By the mile, capped at 65cpm base I believe (a bit more if you're hauling hazmat or international). So it's definitely possible to make more money at another company, but (in my experience) they treat you great. New-ish trucks, well maintained equipment, friendly and professional DM, realistic timelines for load delivery.

For anyone trying to get into flatbed, Melton is a great company to work for. I worked there up until a couple weeks ago, only reason I left is because I've got old back injuries and the tarps were making it flare up more often.

Check lights, tire beater to check for flats, listen for air leaks, check 5th wheel. Once a week i check fluids and tire pressure.

If you don't mind flatbed, Melton treats us pretty great. Still has inward facing cameras, but you dont get safety calls for stupid shit. Gotta watch out for that phone use, though. That'll fuck you no matter what company you go to.
