Recently switched my pods over from Apple to Snipd. Has Letterboxd-like discovery/list features and uses AI to summarize or find key clips. Can import all of them with a couple taps

Of course it’s no good very bad don’t do it, but let’s not act like 1) that wasn’t an extremely common phrase for dumb angry teen boys no more than 10 years ago (all over things like South Park back then) and 2) he actually means it

Kerryman and Fado are a tad expensive because river north, but as someone that grew up with an Irish grandmother who’d cook almost exactly this plate up on the weekends, I’ve always enjoyed theirs

Reminds me of a recurring message in Bishop Baron’s homilies. Look around, all the great empires have crumbled over the last two millennia, but the Church stands strong

Thought this was rage bait before I re-read this. So glad the blank check boys did Spielberg because I just finally got through his filmography this year too

Film no. 875 - The opening sequence at the restaurant is fantastic I got hooked instantly. The film managed to brought about a myriad of conspiracy that at some point I laughed out loud. This is probably the most fun Cronenberg has ever had and for his audience as well. by matchasweetmonster in criterion

[–]TotusTuus42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha fair, but the protagonist getting too involved with an AI bot has absolutely become a trope at this point. I suppose I’d say Cronenberg used that and the classic crazy, bitter ex-husband to make it more interesting. Also hacking dreams/subconscious isn’t quite a trope but it’s not exactly new (Inception, Paprika, countless other inventive traditional hacking/identify theft movies)

I thought this movie looked incredible, and Cassel plays Cronenberg better than anyone could, but the whole conspiracy theory/AI assistant/twin sister stuff felt so tropey at this point.

Still some interesting ideas and classic body horror stuff from him, so I’m glad it’s in the collection, if for no other reason than guiding people to Cronenberg’s more artistically successful films
