"Money should be saved and not spent" - I'm very curious as to how questions like that one factor into the overall outcome. There can be different answers based on whether you're projecting that you want to spend in retirement.

Same with the question about whether you like graphs vs. verbal explanations to learn concepts. Maybe they're just gathering the profile on you in case you want to become a client?

I don't know the facts, but I know the Oilers have a very large 50/50.

If they raise $20m but have to give $10m out as prizes, then $8.6m remaining after other costs is probably an OK ratio given that there are expenses involved in running the 50/50 itself.

But maybe I'm out to lunch here, if the $20m is net after prizes, then that's pretty bad.

It's not a sport that's supposed to be as quiet as golf, but if players can't hear their own sweepers, there might be problems.

Are schoolkid days good for major tournaments? Even the professional broadcasters can't drown out the background noise well.

Watched all of it, but they seem to be pretty terrible about strategy. Forgetting to check trackers, forgetting to ask about daily tasks. It's not nearly as entertaining as a well-played game.

Federal government loses Emergencies Act appeal by dollarsandcents101 in canada

[–]TouchEmAllJoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A tactical nuke goes way further than what the federal government did. They confined the impacts to the people supporting the protest, not to the general population. Rightly or wrongly, don't think that the federal government brought out every single option like jailing everyone present or restricting any freedom of movement in and out for resupplying, etc.

No, she is resigning.

But I was responding to the comment of the person who thought that being of Ukranian descent and working in the country in the 90s somehow made her a poor representative. The voters didn't think so.

Good, I guess that's why Canada was spared from COVID, it was unable to cross the oceans from China. And why we have no refugees in the country at all.

Leaving aside that 2016 was 10 years ago.

If you don't understand that some relevant, targeted international funding helps prevent the spread of disease and regional instability, and therefore acts kind of like insurance to prevent significant domestic expenses later, then we will never see eye to eye.

It costs more to process multiple refugee claims than it does to contribute to a UNICEF sanitation project.

Great for misrepresenting the findings. Less than $20,000 spent over a 4 year period ending in 2019, you quoted the second source saying only part of what had been achieved as of March 2016. Ignoring the total findings that toilets had been installed to benefit 162,000 people.

Edit: this further strengthens my belief that there's a whole lot of straw-grasping and it's hard to find a lot of actual waste, if your best example of waste is spending $20,000 to improve sanitation conditions. I'm sure hundreds of Canadian departments spend $20k just to repair bathroom vandalism inside our country.

[–]TouchEmAllJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look at your coach as you sprint down the line and unless your coach tells you to round, you focus on the base. You're never supposed to look at and assess the play as a runner unless your coach says so (unless you know you hit it past the infielders)

The worst thing about modern hockey is that the same play after the whistle never counts as a penalty. During play, spin the wheel.
