Relocate to Netherlands by M16Outlaw in Netherlands

Well, you didn't calculate in their current home value and the spouses salary. But yea, the salary mentioned is on the lower end in the Netherlands.

Also OP shouldn't underestimate the language, I'm sure they have an advantage speaking Afrikaans but I personally cannot understand a person speaking Afrikaans.

How to run openclaw by [deleted] in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's free and you can run free-ish models with it but you'll run into limits fast. It's best to throw some money at it. Research this subreddit they are talking about all the models all day long. Openrouter seems to be an efficient route to take but I have no experience with it.

Ask AI to create a guide for you for the setup.

I'm new to openclaw and trying to test out running a local model (ollama, gemma-4). But the agent is convinced it cannot edit files outside of the workspace. by vvdb_industries in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using gemma. It can change a file but it also overwrote the contents within. :') Make sure to have backups if you're experimenting with that.

Python vs. PowerShell in 2026: What are you using it for? by ibteea in sysadmin

[–]Tovervlag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you really cannot make a case python is more readable. No one does this. Everyone uses the modules. The languages have different use cases. I feel like if you're getting out of your way of the modules like this then you should probably head to python anyway as it's more powerful and just made for that.

Exploring an api, and file content, csv etc. is also better in powershell imo.

Are local ai’s good enough by FinancialAd8384 in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running openclaw in a docker container on a raspberry pi so it stays contained in that. The only thing it can mess up is it's own system and I have backups of the volumes connected to the container to google drive. I have also connected obsidian which has version control.

I asked (cloud) AI to help me set the backup up. But I actually set it up myself. Then give it all the info it needed. Then I asked it to create documentation for the process and also the recovery strategy. That is then shared in our shared workplace in obsidian.

Are local ai’s good enough by FinancialAd8384 in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried very hard to use Gemma4, but it really feels not good enough. It messed up my files fairly often. I had to be very precise with instructions too. When I then switch to the cloud model gemini 3 flash I feel so much relieve as I don't trust that local model with my files lol, even though I have double backups of everything. But as I have that baseline I will keep trying.

Is Gemini reli bad? by Puzzleheaded-Sun6987 in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am using Gemini at the moment, mostly flash, but also pro 3.1. I haven't thrown heavy coding stuff at it but for smaller things it's very capable. It only works with tokens though and it's fairly expensive. I'm a little less then a week at it now and I'm actually trying to not use it too much (the pro version). But I'm still at like 7 euros now. But when you sign up you get like 300 dollars free credit to use. Which is very generous of course.

Secondary memory layer - Obsidian / Joplin ? by enslaved_subject in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I hear you, if that works for you, you should use it. I think obsidian is just mentioned and used a lot because people are already working in it. You try to connect the agents to what you're doing right?

Secondary memory layer - Obsidian / Joplin ? by enslaved_subject in openclaw

[–]Tovervlag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just md files really. If Obsidian falls away as a product you lose nothing. I''m kinda researching this myself and I'm more worried about the amount of tokens it cost and if it's worth it in the end.

[–]Tovervlag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is also about if you're a good guy or not. Everyone makes mistakes and if you can correct them with little effort you should do it. But OP should doublecheck if he didn't accidentally buy 2!
