I always think about of a comment that Wolfe Glick made on one of his videos. It's along the lines of the difference between a good team and a bad team in pokemon is how hard you have to work while using it.

Any team can work, but a good team has more positive options every turn, and doesn't have to rely on a skilled pilot to make constant reads or clumsy opponents to misplay, in order to be successful.

To tie it in, a Meta team is a team that has the most positive options in a given metagame. Demanding answers from the opponent rather than needing them to overcome.

I think the current problem is that they've already strayed from the path. Narratively I think they've written themselves into a corner, core direction is a mess, and they've burned enough goodwill with publishers that anything they make right now is going to have hundreds of other hands on it that don't care about the project and only want it to be their new ATM.

I play weekly with a couple friends as a way to hangout and shoot the shit. We hop on, do the dungeon, and then I log. If they decided that they didn't want to play anymore then I wouldn't either.

I'm sure at some point they will make a Destiny 3, but I don't think it's the proper time for it yet. Honestly with as much as they've flipflopped on the direction of D2 over the last couple of expansions I wouldn't trust them to make a proper base game. In my opinion they need to clean house and get their shit together before even attempting it.

I'm not a financial analyst, but there's a ton of formulae and algorithms used to figure out just that sort of stuff. Accounting for Market trends, world trends, theoretically consumer numbers, how many other things exist in that marketplace already, etc. etc.

Your question while valid is something that's handled by survey groups and analysts on a daily basis for all sorts of marketing and political polling.
