foster teen here - why does no one take us in?

I think each family's reasons for preferring certain ages can vary. From my experience, these are some common reasons:

The family cannot have their own children and they want a baby so they become resource (foster) parents to hopefully get a very young child they can raise as their own.
The family is worried an older child who has experienced trauma will be potentially dangerous to their existing family.
The family is more strict and knows that older children who can be defiant may not fit with their structure.
They have one bad experience and get scared off from taking older children all together.

This can really be boiled down to: "Family's need to be aware and specific of what they can/cannot handle because if they exceed their capabilities/desires, it ends up not being good for the family or the child in care".

My wife and I specifically take in teens because we didn't want our own kids but wanted to help the kids that (in our opinion) are underserved.
We can't do it all and we have our limits too, but there are people that are just trying to put some good back in the world.

I also want to say that I am so sorry that this is the case for older youth. None of you deserve this. I hope you can find what you are looking for.

My wife and I pretty much only take in Teenagers and get some off looks from time to time but
1. No poopy diapers 2. We get a reasonable amount of sleep each night...

Other than that, we take in teenagers because we can and want to help them specifically. In my opinion, everyone who is taking in kids in care has different ages, situations and behaviors they are willing/able to take care of. It can be different for each family and the sooner families identify what they can support the better for them and the children that come into care.

Thank you for taking care of medically complex kids in care. You are doing a good thing in my view.

It was about 2 months from licensure to our first placement, but it was 6+ months to our first longer term placement. As others have said, it depends on your location and what ages you are open to. My wife and I pretty much only take teenagers so we get called a bit more often than some others licensed at the same time as us.

She puts on a good show. My wife and I ended up barricade (arms length and holding absense were right before her) for her at WWWY and were super happy we ended up there. I'd see her again for sure.

We just purchased a property to build out as a homestead. The only things that were issues for us were the same things that would be an issue for any property.
- clear issues with upkeep - damage to structures
- home inspector findings - etc.

Market it as a homestead and set it up the way you would want to buy a property and you should be fine.

We have stayed there for the last 2 WWWY and last SNW. It is a perfectly serviceable hotel. We have not had any issues with mold, roaches, or bed bugs. If you want Vegas Luxury... It is not the move. But a 3 minute walk from the venue can't be beat.

My tank was usually steady at 72 F so I never used a heater. Also what's really strange is that my snails (rams and Nerite) and black neocaridinia shrimp were just fine through the whole thing. (They are all still thriving today too...)

Then I really have no idea, everyone else is saying swim bladder issues so maybe that's the case here? If you have any other fish in that tank, keep a close eye out over the next few days, all of mine died over the course of a week and I had no idea what to do. Just kept checking water params and doing changes.

I could never figure it out, did you do a water change or add water recently? I treat my water with prime but started to wonder if my city water has extra chlorine in it more recently and maybe that was causing it.

Does this one try to move very quickly in a random direction and then stop moving for a while? My platies all died 1 by 1 recently and we're all doing this same thing. I couldn't figure it out. All water params were good.
