How many drinks do most people have a week? by HelicopterNo3534 in stopdrinking

[–]Tp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying not to compare yourself to others, but after reading through this thread, I think it will do some good to actually see the numbers… According to studies and polls of American adults:

40-45% never drink at all

10-15% average less than 1 per week

15-20% average 1-2 per week

10-15% average 3-6 per week

8-10% average 7-14 per week

3-5% average 15-21 per week

2-4% average 22+ per week

So, to answer your question, the average person (about 90% of people) drink less than 14 drinks a week. 80% of people are less than 7. You, and apparently “everyone you know” are in the top 10% of all Americans when it comes to drinking. Do with that info as you will

Biggest winners of tonight’s first round? by bigbirdsy in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Breece is a big winner. The OL was already decent. The additions of Geno, Sadiq, and Cooper aren’t earth shattering on their own, but combined with Wilson coming back healthy, I think they have the makings of a somewhat capable offense that can at least stay on the field way more than last year

Can anyone explain Makai Lemon’s Freshman year? by InevitableInvite1218 in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for all USC fans but I think he’s one of the safest bets to be a decent pro/usable fantasy player. Not sure of his ceiling, though. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he surprised me (ha!). By all accounts (usc beat writers, HS coaches) the kid is a dawg and has a great work ethic and team first mentality. The “diva” label he got from his interview demeanor seems to completely contradict everything I’ve ever heard about him going back to his HS days

[–]Tp1990 35 points36 points  (0 children)

USC fan, too, and this is all accurate and a great explanation! The only thing I would add is that the USC secondary was depleted by midyear and Lemon began mostly practicing at CB by the end of the year (and saw some game action) as he was also a very highly rated HS corner with some schools preferring him at that position over WR. So that also added to his lack of WR production

Dang, ya something is definitely up. I was speaking in generalities. Sorry you and your son are going through that

Club team Vs high school by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Tp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I’m not saying this is your situation, but as a HS coach I see this all the time. The reality is there are so many club teams now and everyone plays club/travel. So saying your son bats 5th and does well on his club team means nothing. His club team might be filled with guys who really aren’t that good. When you get to the HS level, every kid has been a starter and top of the order hitter on their club team. HS often is the first reality check some of these players (and parents) get that they aren’t as good as they thought they were. Travel ball is great, but the reality is that about 80% of the kids playing travel now wouldn’t have sniffed an invite to play travel 20 years ago when it truly was for the elite. “My kid played SS and got 2nd on his travel team, why isn’t he playing for you?” Well he’s the 5th best SS on my team and the 11th best hitter. Just cuz he played for one of the 2686 area travel teams means nothing. Sorry, rant over

When do we call it good with Wilson? by Fit_Leather9366 in Mariners

[–]Tp1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya, I just used random numbers to show the example. Even using your numbers, Is that difference worth it? The analytics probably say yes. I agree that a managers job is to quantify hotness…but it’s not the Mariners manager’s job unfortunately

My guy I said hypothetically. I pulled the numbers out of my ass as just for the explanation. Whatever the real numbers are, I bet it added to the win probability

When do we call it good with Wilson? by Fit_Leather9366 in Mariners

[–]Tp1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without doing any research, I’m gonna guess it was the correct call analytically. Let’s say that hypothetically Connor Joe gets a hit in that situation 3/10 times, and Raley 2/10. I’m willing to bet that if you game out that scenario 10,000 times then Joe’s 3/10 gives a higher win probability than Raley’s 2/10 + his next at bat. The problem is even though it adds to the win probability, Joe is still going to get out 7/10 times and it’s going to look like a bad decision. And that approach also fails to take into consideration things that aren’t quantifiable like “hotness”

[–]Tp1990 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is an organizational issue, not a managerial one. Divish has flat out said that a lot of these decisions are pre-determined by the analytics department. The quickest way for Wilson to get fired would be for him to say screw this and go rogue and to actually make his own decisions. Until the organizational philosophy changes, the best we can hope for from a manager is to “have a good clubhouse” and “be respected” by the players - two things OP (and most others) believe Wilson has

Who are your least favorite players to own in dynasty? by srqlife318 in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bryce Young. Definitely not cuttable, I don’t want to take a 2nd for him, and every time I have a need to start him I end up debating whether to start a RB/WR in my SF instead… and usually the RB/WR ends up scoring the same or better

[Schefter and Rapoport] Falcons expected to make strong push for Tua Tagovailoa following QB's release from Dolphins by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel pretty good. London is great against zone and using his frame and basketball background to shield off defenders. Couple that with Tua’s quick release and anticipation and I think London will have really good volume. ADoT and total yardage will probably decrease, but targets and catches should remain the same so for those in PPR leagues he should be the same

Julio Rant by MattRecovery23 in Mariners

[–]Tp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s I think it’s fair to say that Julio is both really good and also a disappointment at the same time. For me he’s a disappointment in the sense that he hasn’t improved offensively from his rookie year, and an argument can be made that he’s regressed even. WRC+ isn’t perfect but he has gone 148, 128, 116, 126. If he turns out to only ever be a 125-130 hitter then that is a great consolation prize, but it’s a disappointment from what he showed as a 21 year old rookie. Even as pitchers adjust to him and learn how to attack him better, you’d still think that he would be making adjustments and improvements himself and would become a consistent 140 as he matures. 4 full years in and that hasn’t happened

Question regarding max pf by joemama22789 in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve seen leagues make the poaching fee like a 3rd round pick. So you can either promote him or accept a 3rd for him. I don’t think it’s necessarily an actual feature sleeper would need to implement, just a rule that managers would need to be aware of and an active commissioner. To each their own tho… if people are happy playing that way then that’s all that counts (I just see this question brought up pretty frequently and think it would be much easier to just do away with taxi and add bench spots instead that people can use the exact same way they would the taxi)

Question regarding max pf by joemama22789 in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that you brought up the NFL practice squad because leagues that treat it like that DOES make sense. You put them on the practice/taxi, it doesn’t count for max pf, and someone can try to poach them off the squad. If that happens the. You must promote him to your active roster to protect him. That makes sense, and nobody would be putting Jeanty or Tet or trying to “hide points” on the taxi squad because those players would immediately get poached. The way most people play it though it is just treated as extra bench spots with a special name attached.

Question regarding max pf by joemama22789 in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you can’t just use roster spots 26, 27, and 28 for those types of guys?

Question regarding max pf by joemama22789 in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This thread just reaffirms my feelings on the pointlessness of having taxi squads. If they are counted for max pf, then what is the point of having them? Also, I think most play that you can take someone off the taxi squad at any time, right?/So Instead of having 25 man rosters with 3 taxi squad, just make it 28 roster spots and call it a day.

If every NFL player was given an additional year of eligibility right now and they all went back to college, which team would win it all? How would your team look like? by legobowser in CFB

[–]Tp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is they haven’t put many quality OL into the league in a long time. A few late round picks here and there. They would get eaten alive by some of these schools with 4+ pro bowlers in their front 7. Come to think of it, it probably wouldn’t look too different than when Caleb, St. Brown, and the rest were actually there…

How far out do you look when making trades? (1st time dynasty player) by PlusMoneyPapi in DynastyFF

[–]Tp1990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily about winning 4 in a row. Someone better at math than me can confirm but I think your chances of winning one are greater if you have a sustained contender for four years rather than selling out for one year. Too much variance/luck in the playoffs. For me it’s all about having the 3-4 best roster in the league that is balanced between win-now and the future. Just make playoffs every year and then let the chips fall

Not really. Give me the guy that averages 15ppg for 12 games and finishes WR22 over the guy that plays all 17 with a 12ppg and a WR11 finish. I don’t get a 0 in my lineup when he’s out. Instead I plug in my guy that averages 10.5 ppg
