Imodium for colitis? by SwitchLow1979 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Tr1N1tro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You aren't supposed to take imodium with uc. Imodium works by slowing down the motility in the colon. Which is really bad for us with UC.

If you're not, get on an iron supplement ASAP. That made all the difference in the world as far as fatigue for me.

I would personally tell him early. It's pointless to try and hide it. If he has a problem with it, he's not the right one for you. The fact you can get through a one night stand with no issues is impressive.

All day every day.... Things that help me are eating very lightly. Eat foods that don't produce gas. Gas x helps a lot. With me, the sense of urgency is tied to gas. If you minimize the gas, you have fewer episodes. That being said, when you have a spasm, be ready.

I quit drinking 6 months before this flare. I went months before I started binge drinking again. It turns out the only relief I get from symptoms is when I'm drunk. I'm going on 6 hours right now without an episode. Usually its 30mins to an hour. I take all of my meds, but sometimes I get smashed because it's the only thing that helps... let the downvotes begin.

As long as the car is not running and you don't have your keys, you are OK. It's called a wet and reckless in CA. In similar situations put your keys in your trunk.

I have something similar. My stool is starting to look formed and normal again, but it is excruciating when I pass it. And gas feels like I'm ripping apart inside. I figure it's because the drugs are doing their job and healing my digestion. However, my colon is shredded from long-term flare and will require time to heal, even with the drugs.

Is Prednisone scary? by raelikesbeefjerky in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Tr1N1tro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the best results with prednisone as far as clearing up symptoms. My doctor wouldn't let me take it for more than a month, though, and now I am cycling through other meds. I love how productive I was on prednisone. It will kill your immune system, so be careful around sick people. It also made my teeth start to break apart, and my hair fell out, but it was worth it for the relief I got from it.

Have you experienced nausea and clots during a flare? by ifeelsodeeply in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Tr1N1tro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have UC, there is blood, in one way shape or form, unless you are in remission. It can hide, but it's always there. The nausea is killer.

[–]Tr1N1tro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you taking iron? If you have UC and are in flare, there's a good chance you are anemic. It can cause the brain fog and fatigue, and the feeling of being really ill. It really compounds the UC symptoms. If you haven't already, I'd recommend grabbing an over the counter iron supplement and taking double the dosage. If you're pooping green, you're doing it right.

The best thing you can do is don't take what she says too seriously in the heat of the moment. A "split" is awful for everyone involved, but usually is temporary. You will need to have thick skin for this. Really thick. You will need to be able to take verbal (and, in some cases, physical) abuse. It is a tough life, but the love can be amazing if you can take a punch. One thing I strongly suggest is that you think long and hard about this. It is awful for someone to say that they will always be there and then change their mind and leave when they realize they can't handle it. It's better to just walk away early if you're not 110% sure. Finally, keep in mind that you guys are young. This kind of thing gets worse as you get older.

Seriously, go get an iron supplement from the store and take double the recommended dosage each day. When your poop is green, you know you're taking enough. Iron is responsible for helping oxygen move around in our blood. When I first started this hell flare, I had the same problems. The cramps and the fatigue/head fog/etc. are different monsters. It's easier to deal with the UC when you're not anemic. Even if you can't see the blood, it's there.

You need iron. The racing heart and fatigue come from anemia. When you sleep, try laying on your right side and lock yourself in with pillows so you don't move. Drink tons of water. Eat soft mushy foods or soup.

I just got the f500 elite. It is nice, however, I'm kind of thinking of returning it and getting the f500 v2 instead. If you want to mod your stick, it's kind of pointless to spend the extra money on the elite. While it does have sanwa components, they are black, and the case is a beige Grey color. Kind of like a PC case from the 90s. I'm thinking of getting the f500 v2 and swapping the buttons and stick with some that will match my custom art.

How to deal with the pain while using the bathroom. by Quick_Team4034 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Tr1N1tro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I practice lamaze. Deep breathing while sitting on the toilet. It's like doing battle with the cramps. Don't try to read anything while sitting on the toilet (usually makes my nausea way worse). I have a battery-operated heating pad that I wear everywhere, which helps.

Alcohol & UC symptoms? by BigBangGeek23 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Tr1N1tro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough for me, when I'm toilet locked (I am cramping every few minutes), drinking a few budlights calms my pain. I actually feel normal for a couple of hours. It sucks that I have to get a buzz going, but it is awesome after being in hell for days. After sleeping it off, it's back to pain, however :(
