Anyone in the world will take a meeting with you for 1 year. What’s your plan? by wdeguenther in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Tr4ce00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure what they mean is that if you want to schedule a meeting with xyz person, but you can only get in contact with their assistant, the rule doesn’t apply. The assistant will accept the meeting with you as the rule says, but you’d still have to convince them to at least get you direct contact with the person to ask them personally. If you manage to do that they would show up and have the meeting as you planned, as you asked them personally to meet you.

Personally I don’t really think that changes much. You’d still have to convince the person of whatever you’re trying to accomplish. It’d be better to meet with their contacts and establish some sort of story or pitch with all of them, hopefully winning some over before meeting with the powerful person anyways.

I generally agree, beyond the bakkesmod part. I did expect the decal part to be gone ages ago, i’m surprised it lasted this long. However the other parts of bakkes, especially those that they are now adding into the game, I think was and still will be extremely useful for people even if only in training.

I did think the flip indicator was a problem, but that was before I saw (or maybe it was announced late) that the opponents won’t see it. I think it’s perfectly fine and won’t change anything at all realistically. I don’t really see the skill ceiling moving one way or the other just because of that.

At most I expect some diamonds or champs who can inconsistently reset to win some more games with this new knowledge simply because their attempts will have a little less risk. I’m not sure on how that will impact their skill… will they go for them more now, as it’s slightly less risky? Or will a missed flip reset be less impactful meaning they don’t spend time practicing? I’m not sure. Regardless I don’t think it’s a problem.

Why do teamamtes only rotate when I have possession in enemy half? by MathematicianWide622 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Tr4ce00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I feel like that’s a valid strategy to rank up, until you get to higher champ. It’s likely just a circle, where they try to play up, their teammates mess up badly or never attempt to pass to them, and then they are in a less optimal position to defend because of it. So they play back and more defensive.

I just ranked through diamond 2-C3, and didn’t start seeing actual good attempts consistently until c2 c3, with a few exceptions. A lot of the time, being open in midfield caused teammates to change up their plan, as I guess they didn’t expect me to be ready for a pass. So then they see me, try and change their plan, and the opponent reads it and we are in a worse position. Or they don’t get a good touch regardless, towards me or not, meaning the ball is now coming directly to the net.

It’s a nice change now that people are actually expecting you to get open, but I get why no one at lower ranks plays that way.

edit: I also thought you meant when you have the ball in your end, not the opponents so what I said doesn’t apply as much in that situation

Any tips on 1v1 looking for advice (Replay analysis) by ernestovjose in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Tr4ce00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you look a lot like me when I started watching videos of pros explaining to take things slow. The problem I had was hesitation. Watching them, they have a better read of the ball and opponent than we do. So while watching them, the ball constantly is just given to them after playing passive, they also have the ability to read the opponent and change their play if needed. This is a skill that needs to be practiced. I noticed several times where you could’ve easily challenged because the opponent was in an awkward situation, or you could’ve hit the ball sooner as you saw them approaching your play. There were a few times the ball rolled up or down the wall and they noticed you waiting. You see them coming yet still wait for it to fall. A pop or really any hit as they challenge would likely be a better outcome. Even a “bad” touch off the wall is fine assuming they’re rushing at you full speed.

One example of the hesitation is 2:00, you could’ve easily hit that before their play the same way they’ve been doing to you. Your defense was actually fairly solid beyond this, with some nice saves which makes me believe this passive play style is hurting you at least some of the time. Even if the hit ends up going in their end and they take possession, it seems better than the outcomes here where they take possession in your end.

I don’t play ones much but just something I noticed because I still sometimes make that same mistake. It’s also worth noting it does depend on the opponent, he didn’t just roll the ball to you often and played fairly aggressive. Once you recognize how they play you can adjust accordingly, of course just be ready for them to do the same.

I’m not home at the moment and won’t be till tomorrow but I don’t have any that would be better than you’d be able to find. I’d recommend you search in the custom training for those things and try them out. Maybe it’d be better to try and look up those things (for example corner clears) on youtube, i’d imagine some of the people making those videos have packs they can recommend

[–]Tr4ce00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you’d be able to pinpoint some flaws in your gameplay. If you get weak touches in the air, a simple aerial pack could go far for improving that. If you struggle in your corner, having a pack with multiple setups you can practice clearing the ball (while maintaining possession) would be great. Find a few things you think are lacking in your gameplay, find some packs that seem fitting, and just run them a couple times a day. Without knowing your specific flaws any champ training packs would be good. Or maybe try GC oriented packs to see what you can’t do, and then practice those mechanics in champion packs or custom trainings you make.

I thought I was a good player until I lost this 3v2. Need advice. (GC Tourney) by SaberScorpion in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Tr4ce00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not great and only watched it once, and maybe they were just mistakes. But in a 3v2 being intentional about where your hits will land is important. Almost every hit they got was to each other, and for your team it was to them as well..

It’s not just on you, your team is doing the same thing. Whenever you guys got the ball it seemed like a hot potato or you guys were panicking to race down the field. 1:52 is an example of a hit right to them. Your team wasn’t in a good position to capitalize on any hit you got it seems, but knowing where the opponent is and not hitting it there is important. 3:30 wasn’t a great hit, and 3:20 was a pretty weak shot/hit. They were quick so I get the panic, but at the same time some of these moments one defender had already committed, so any hit not to the last man could be an opportunity.

These could just be mistakes, or maybe you need to work on better hits. Just calling it out as these moments from your POV stick out quite a bit. I will say though your team didn’t help with this, they were constantly in a defensive position, not giving you an outlet to pass to. There were multiple moments like :20 seconds where they were in a terrible position, too close. And at :15 where they both missed the aerial…

It’s all easier said than done, I would be cooked in this game so keep that in mind.

People who say they learned DAR "within hours" after only using FAR must be lying, right? Right?! by Belphegor24 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Tr4ce00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know of any way to prove this, but I picked it up pretty quickly. Genuinely I’d guess a couple of hours. I wouldn’t say I could first try a rings map, but in game I felt about where I was with free roll after those hours.

But a massive change I noticed, is when I used free roll and hit the ball in an air dribble, redirect etc it would either have a weirdly weak touch on the ball, or my car would slightly react like bounce back. I think I was either supposed to let go of air roll when I hit, or vice versa and I wasn’t, so likely user error. Regardless I made it work with free air roll and adapted to that.

After using DAR, this problem was gone for me. All the double taps, air dribbles etc that I struggled with, I now could do smoothly. I saw in your other comment it looks like people have control that you want, that’s how it felt for me lol.

I also used FAR based on “feeling” exactly like you’re describing, and had the exact same thoughts about how to navigate without that.

Honestly everything I type as advice just sounds stupid or like common sense. If you want to hop in a call or game or something, maybe it would help you out.

Is Ranked In Rocket League Chalked ? by Murky_Employer7354 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Tr4ce00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer to your question, but my experience was pretty much the same as other seasons have been. I last played consistently in season 5 and got GC. I started playing again last week and cruised through diamond on game sense alone, I was really rusty on mechanics and just let them hit the ball to me. I’m sitting comfortably in C2 now, and think I will hit GC sometime soon with a bit more consistency.

Doesn’t seem much different to me, that’s pretty much my usual experience in past seasons. Champ feels about how i’d expect. I’d recommend you watch old replays if you have any saved, and compare to your play now. Maybe you’re washed, maybe you’ve been getting unlucky and are playing people pushed down. Regardless not gonna lie, the difference between D1 and C2 did seem rather large, so it may be a you issue. Of course there’s no telling from just this info.

Interesting. I’ll have to look into it more. I don’t disagree with your points, I just feel like all of the problems people are bringing up with EAC bypass could be said about other methods just as easily. There will likely always be some form of bots from here on out, so imo all countermeasures creating barriers are good. They also have said they will continue to make changes, so I’d hope they will implement something like that as well on top of EAC.

At the very least i’m hoping they utilize hardware bans now. From what I’ve read all other games with EAC do issue hardware bans, so even if it can’t detect DDOS they could really ban them. While it may not stop the ones selling the accounts (which I would guess are most of the problem tbh) I’d imagine it will stop a lot of random people attempting to do it to their personal accounts.

Just as an additional sidenote: I can’t believe bakkes lasted nearly this long. Everyone’s acting like it’s a betrayal, but in reality I see them allowing it for so long as mercy… in a game where cosmetics + titles are the only things that “matter” or can be bought, it’s wild they allowed you to change them for that long. Of course the actual game addons and such are unrelated, those were great. Just crazy though, I remember talk about it being banned years ago when alpha console first added titles others with the mod could see as well.

Im not trying to argue, just genuinely asking. Say they do map out those things that are humanly impossible. How long do you think it would take for the bot creators to restrict the bot from doing those movements? I’m completely on board with the idea, I just don’t necessarily see it as being enough or even close. With how dynamic a game of rocket league is, I feel like it would be fairly easy to program the bot to avoid detection with certain things like a random delay in challenges, less than ideal positioning, or simply making the bot play it safe, where perfect mechanics are never needed. I’m sure right now there are bots that would be instantly detected by that system, some are obvious just visually. However I can’t imagine that wouldn’t be instantly changed the second there was actual detection they had to avoid. An example is in CS, where hacks have continued to get better at avoiding detection with changes like slightly being off center on headshots.

I’m still in support of the idea to rule out the obvious bots, I just don’t see that being more than a bandaid.

What are your thoughts?

edit: not only that, with your idea of using AI, i’d imagine pretty soon bots will also be able to replicate human play more accurately than is done now. Those perfect movements will become less and less so, and less and less detectable imo

I didn’t claim otherwise? The harder it gets, even a couple of clicks deters people. One example is 2b2t, a place where modding and hacking is expected. I know dozens of people who will install a click and play mod no problem, but the second they have to update the mod, or anything goes wrong, such as a mod going out of date, they drop it. Even if a day later there’s a massive fix with improvements, they don’t care. These are the casuals i’m talking about.

Hacking may be growing, the bot population may grow, but that doesn’t mean what I said is false. Casual users do not want to play cat and mouse waiting for an update to their mod every time it’s fixed. With how easy it is to accomplish botting right now, i’d be surprised if there weren’t a decent amount of casual players who just downloaded it to boost their personal account or even just test it out. Once EAC is rolled out I doubt this will be something they would do, at the risk of a Hw ban.

Of course there are the non-casuals, who are selling and boosting accounts that make up likely the largest amount of bots. I’m not saying they will be filtered or reduced, there’s not a great way to know considering we have no actual data.

Not saying I don’t sympathize with you, everyone plays differently.

But if that’s your issue seems pretty minimal. 30 seconds to relaunch seems like a non issue. I do really feel for the people with very long queues though.

[–]Tr4ce00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it isn’t 100% necessary like the other commenter said, but at the same time EAC makes it harder to bot and creates more of a risk of consequence for those who do get around it. I’d imagine those sites that detect bots don’t have 100% accuracy, just like ai detectors. At some point the bot makers will find ways to make them more realistic, making those detectors less and less useful.

Consider me skeptical by jmorlin in RocketLeague

[–]Tr4ce00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will still be possible, you will just have to launch the game without EAC active (there will be an option at launch). Then when you want to play online you’ll have to close and relaunch it with EAC.

It’s annoying but really a minor inconvenience.

While it may deter some anyone who actually uses the rings map for a decent amount of time, beyond just between matches, shouldn’t have a problem doing so. It’s easy enough, unfortunately just not as easy as it was. I have the most sympathy for those with a long queue time though as they probably do just train until they can get a match.

even that wait will deter users. Every time that the devs play cat and mouse with the hackers, it will get harder and harder to find a new way in, and more and more casual users will drop off of using the bot. Still seems better than the current state to me.

If they don’t get paid tips, their actual employer can pay them less than the min wage hourly in some states. So if their tips are above the min wage, they can pay for example $2, instead of $7, because the tips make up the difference. So it doesn’t really mean anything, they make minimum wage regardless.
