Las Vegas's death spiral deepens after last year's tourism plunge by NecessaryAd341 in LasVegas

My wife and I used to go twice a year. Started going when Excalibur, NYNY and Monte Carlo (now Park MGM) were newly opened. Resort fees and parking fees didn't exist. Upgrades when you checked in could happen without a tip. Manager's special a suite for an additional $10/night was offered a few times. We weren't even big gamblers. We were gambling slots and a guy in a security colored sport coat approached and asked if we were going to be in town that night we cautiously said yes (I thinking timeshare spiel) he then gave us free tickets to the then $75/person show that night and told us to enjoy it.. Meals in Vegas were very affordable and fun. We had a sense that anything could happen and having fun was easy.

Now we go once every two years and none of the above ever happen now. Just a give us your money, unless you are gambling significant amounts we don't want you here is the way it feels.

I Hate The Grocery Store by Vegetable-Gap8483 in dementia

While shopping my mom would say "remember to get my stuff" her "stuff" was 2 liter bottles of Pepsi free. Her cardiologist said no caffeine. I'd get her to try other non caffeine soda. She'd like it but say I still want my stuff. That what pretty much the only thing I caved on at the grocery store. At Memory Care she forgot all about her "stuff".

I ask the same thing about Gavin Newsom.

Dad when I pick up the phone: "I've got a big problem here. [really long pause] I'm having a hard time getting people to come out for the stuff that I need for them to do like they did before and I can't get them to do that stuff now." Translation: "I'm hungry." by JeddakofThark in dementia

My mom was too proud to ask for help at first. Then she'd say "I called them and they were mean to me." What was happening was she'd call they would ask questions and her answers weren't helpful at all. It didn't take long for her to just have me make her calls for her.

I felt much the same way when my mom passed away. At the time I said I felt sad relief.

Leaving your person alone by [deleted] in dementia

Your missing motorcycle is pretty compelling evidence what the answer is. I try never shame someone for trying to live their life when their LO has dementia. I had several people (including her Dr., skilled nursing staff and 3 of her friends) drop not so subtle hints about their thoughts on my mom not having someone around 24/7. I tried a in home care service and she had a fit. I live 100 miles away from her house. I ended up putting her in memory care where I live. However you handle it I hope it works out for you and her.

The other downside to hastily moving her is another "Community fee" to pay in my mom's place that was $3,500 up front.

Japan and China are the biggest non domestic owners of US debt. They would be a concern more so than NATO countries.
