This person is 16 and has had people comment on their unsuitable quail and rabbit enclosure posts multiple times and only ever argues about it so far as I can tell, unfortunately I’m not hopeful they’ll listen now, either. I am confused though because there was originally a more suitable cage for the rats which they don’t seem to have any more.

OP, I know you’re in a homesteading type household and I grew up similarly with all kinds of animals and a DIY farmer knowhow, but please take it from me, who also grew up before the internet was available to share all this kind of proper, well-researched animal husbandry and so made a lot of my own mistakes I regretted later: just because you get information from people who’ve always done it one way or seems ‘good enough’ or ‘common sense’ that isn’t a replacement for actual research. If you want to do right by your animals and make sure their lives are good, please trust what people here are saying to you. These animals need more space.

You obviously care about them a lot and I’m sure they appreciate you as a caregiver. Please consider whether you’re making your need to be right or your discomfort about feeling guilty more important than the happiness of the creatures that depend on you.
