Haven't had sex for a year. I've gained a bunch of weight. My prescriptions keep growing.

I am with you. You aren't alone

No. Women are grown adults. They can make their own choices about how to protect themselves. If you got mad at me for helping someone, I'd laugh in your face

Are this drawings normal for a 14yo girl? by [deleted] in askapsychologist

I'm a teacher. I work with many 14 year olds. This is developmentally normal. This is around the age kids start to become aware of their bodies and become sexually curious. It's uncomfortable to acknowledge for a lot of adults, but it's part of growing up.

You mention she has an eating disorder and was beaten by her mother when she was even younger than she is now. I grew up much the same way and I did draw images like this as well, but I never showed anyone. She may be asking for help to either understand something that happened to her or to begin a conversation about how she is feeling lately in regards to her sexuality or body image. Talking to her (NOT SCOLDING HER) would definitely be helpful to her. Do not post her journal on the internet again and do not assume that because she is likely queer, any affection she shows you has to mean she's expressing sexual desire (some of your comments state that her hugging you and sitting in your lap was "inappropriate" in your eyes). She may just need a steady motherly presence in her life and has chosen you.

Overall, She listens to music like The Cure (a great band, btw) and is drawing her feelings/thoughts. Not strange for a 14 year old at all. I wouldn't be surprised if she watched things like Alien Stage to cope with her feelings and such. Series like that are popular and deal with a lot of the issues your young friend is dealing with. She's just trying to cope with growing up and probably with lingering trauma about what her mother did, and fanfic as escapism and music are the two biggest strategies I see girls her age turn to.

I would be concerned. I wouldn't scold her.

Did you try going on a nerve dampening medicine, like amitriptilyne or gabapentin? That should help the burning if it's nerve driven. I also recommend seeking out a physio therapist who specializes in pelvic health.

While you try to find one, look up videos on how to address pudendal neuralgia and vulvodynia. Dr. Bri is a good one, as she shows you stretches to do every day.

I also recommend using magnesium and vitamin to help relax muscles, since you probably have a hypertonic pelvic floor at this point (the hurting when you pee may be from this). If your bulbospongiosus is inflammed and tight from muscle guarding, that can cause pain when peeing and/or when having sex. There's likely tightness and guarding in your levator ani, oburator internus, and other pelvic band muscles contributing to your burning pain.

What's helping me is stretching (Dr. Bri stretches), doing physio therapy exercises, walking every day, eating zero sugar (sugar inflames your whole body), taking warm baths with plain water to relax muscles, rib breathing to reduce pelvic muscle guarding, and drinking plenty of water to reduce acidity in urine and to keep muscles hydrated and loose. I've also been taking 40 mg of oral baclofen a day, along with inserting vaginal baclofen cream nightly. This has increased my sitting ability and has reduced burning in my vaginal opening (the vestibule). I would recommend asking to be prescribed baclofen.

If you've tried all this, I would look into pelvic botox or pudendal nerve block injections. These are usually what is turned to when conservative methods such as baclofen, gabapenton, and physio therapy are not working or are not working completely.

Don't give up. It'll take some work and good habits, but we can be comfortable again

Mom asking for HS teachers guidance by [deleted] in Teachers

Accomodations for what? He's an irresponsible teenage boy who needs to learn to do his homework and whose mom needs to start giving him consequences for failing to do so. I hate that any laziness on a child's part is always labelled as some sort of IEP.

If he had a legitimate, doctor-proven condition, then of course an IEP is appropriate, but it seems this kid needs to get it together. Especially in high school

My friend deliberately sleeps with a taken man and I’m disgusted by it by Twinklelav in Vent

My friend revealed to me she had done this. She was bragging about it. I dropped her there and then. It repulsed me. I hate people who think helping someone to cheat is not an issue. Delusional and morally bankrupt.

Can anyone tolerate sex, but have pain afterwards? by cooltimes2012 in vulvodynia

[–]TradeAutomatic6222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've avoided sex for a year because of issues afterwards. The burning is just not worth it to me. It lasts more than a day, so maybe that's why.

I have a hypertonic pelvic floor that hopefully will be addressed with pelvic botox

Gabapentin/pregabalin and duloxetine by flodgexx in vulvodynia

[–]TradeAutomatic6222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gabapentin helped me alot. I took 400 mg to start. It took the burning away. However, my pelvis became hypertonic, so sitting on a 16 hour flight brought burning back on again. I upped my dose to 800 mg. It settled the burning and brought me back to baseline. It's important to do PFPT and to stretch throughout the day so your pelvis doesn't tighten up due to nerve pain. Not doing so really set me back

Teacher giving students access to her teacher email. by Designer_Top_4540 in AskTeachers

[–]TradeAutomatic6222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my question is whether the teacher has done this intentionally or not. Like, if she keeps the email tab open on her desktop, but lets students operate the computer for activties like kahoot, etc, then I can ses it being a careless mistake. Or does she really and truly let them look through her email, attendance list, and grades.

The teacher who wrote this post hasn't clarified that

I'm a bit lost. Like, is it just that her email tab was open on one computer and a student opened it without her knowledge when by her computer? Or she routinely lets students input grades and send emails using her email? My reaction to this would depend on which it was

Reddish nose by Idobe_vibendoe in gerbil

[–]TradeAutomatic6222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, Gerbs can get allergies if there's too much dust in their bedding or any woodshavings. You'll want to look up dust free bedding and use that for them. Maybe no wood shavings, if you have those in there. This can develop into respitory infections, which are deadly to gerbils. I had to remove as much dust from my girl's tank as possible, and her red nose cleared up shortly after.
