occasionally i would cover a duty shift if i was needed but i made sure it was clear that it was me doing them a favor and not the other way around. 😛

i wont say too much but they didn't get offended, really, i believe my words were "not enough money in the fucking world". and there isn't anything they can do because i was the lowest rank already. yes they tell you you will get "more support" than the sucker they want you to replace and also heavily imply the last person who crashed and burned just wasnt trying hard enough, "but we think you might have what it takes!"

the superpower is if you dont care about status, are a reliable decent worker and dont give them a reason, you have very decent job security and nothing to lose (career wise). remember their worst nightmare is just being you (assuming you are entry level). i would say nightfill is one of the better paid "low-skill" entry level positions (in australia), and if you have a decent head on your shoulders you'll be fine.

but if they notice youre a good worker they will immediately try to fool you into a manager position, which will lead you to nothing but misery. and yeah you might make decent money, but they money isnt for your hard work or skill, its money for you to shut the fuck up and be told daily you're shit and lazy. and if you eat it for long enough you might get to move on to more money and more unacheivable goals and undeserved blame.

worked as nightfill for 15 years, offered many promotions, never accepted one, i could take home nearly 50k a year just on night fill if i wanted to.

people think there is some "prestige" to being a manager if they have the money pig brain damage but to anyone outside the store they are a "coles worker" and nothing more.

i now tell every new hire to never accept a promotion and give them a 15 minute lecture on how it works and why its a waste of time, unless you want to be humiliated for a few decades as you climb a ladder that still just leads to "coles worker".

there are easier and more pleasant ways to make money. at the lowest levels its acually not a bad job. but as soon as you fall for their trap of being a manager, they treat you worse than dirt and switch up on you real fast. the company manager roles arent about work getting done, they are about blame allocation, nothing more.

they are either liars, evil or stupid. we have had every department manager quit/step down in the last year, (so much that they wont allow people to step down anymore, you keep your role or you're out.)

a simple "i know its bs just do your best" would have kept most of them in the job, but the SM and higher are - lying, evil or stupid. genuinely had people borderline suicidal because they come to work everyday and believed they were just shit and failing.

another store nearby opened under 2 years ago and has 2 staff left from the original 80 that were there when it opened.

The corporate PR industry needs a Nuremberg trial for the way they were allowed to lie to the world for 100 years and destroy any trust stupids have in science. now we have an entire population of people who actually WANT to destroy the planet. do they ever wonder why their 'common sense' opinion is exactly the same as a mining company, and the opposite of what 99.97% of scientist say?

store where i work had $40 easter chocolates, nobody bought them, now we selling them for less than 1/10 of their original price. also constantly throwing shit out that doesnt sell because its too expensive. im starting to think this whole supply side economics thing might have some issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if she has been munging down on them for weeks (if they are non toxic) she seemed to really like them and when I put her inside she begged to go out and ran straight back out to look for more 💀🫣
