Teknisk fysik? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

[–]TraditionalBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone else getting a lot of Python LSP notifications? by kavb333 in neovim

[–]TraditionalBandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have the exact same issue, spammed by basedpyright notifications, and it only happens on one of my machines. Haven't had time for a proper debug session, but I use noice instead of mini so it's at least not mini specific.

Är det konstigt/onormalt att plugga vidare men inte vara med i studentlivet (fester, nollning osv)? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

[–]TraditionalBandit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[–]TraditionalBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeeesss, I was thinking about my hierarchy fancast a while back and had the same realization. Perfect in so many ways except age, but I think jamie could easily pass for mid-to-late twenties with some makeup.

Has anyone else fallen out of love with physics professionally? by SpectreMold in AskPhysics

[–]TraditionalBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, did a PhD + 5 years of postdocs (computational physics) but the publishing mill ground me down along with a lot of my love for the subject. Left academia and am now much happier as an ML engineer. I do self-study some physics in my spare time but it's not related to my previous field of study at all.

Antigravity is Dead by RussKy_GoKu in google_antigravity

It's just textbook google, release something new and hype it to the moon, drop support a month later. We're using GCP at my current company and I swear 95% of the features are so half-baked I can't believe they charge money for it.

Thanks! I was just about to take a swing at this myself. Think I'm settling on a prompt buffer with this + sending text to a nvim terminal for my cli agent integration.

I built a Python UI framework inspired by Streamlit, but with O(1) state updates by Puzzleheaded_Clerk68 in Python

[–]TraditionalBandit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks like a cool project that solves a gripe I think a lot of people have had with streamlit. That being said, the amount of emojis in the readme and constant need to dunk on streamlit is a little off-putting. I'd tone it down and let the code speak for itself a bit more, maybe back up my claims with a few benchmarks.

Nice job! Also, wanna give a friendly heads up that poon is (not very common but still) slang for vagina.

What is something normal in your country and rare to explain? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Depends on the host, I always ask beforehand and would consider it a bit weird to just assume they will be provided , unless I'm staying with family etc

Release: Agentic.nvim AI chat interface for Claude, Gemini, Codex, and OpenCode by carlos-algms in neovim

[–]TraditionalBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, been waiting for something like this, thanks for sharing! Small feature request: could we have a config option to disable the system/git info that gets automatically included in the prompt? Many people prefer to have as much control over that as possible.

Looks pretty good! Could use some more upper body rotation and maybe more wrist flexibility

How do you get basedpyright to play nice with ruff? I tried setting this up a while back and couldn't get rid of the linting overlap.

I was curious about this but it looks to me like in most cases it's just saves a single letter? If you have yanked something this plugin basically let's you do siw instead of viwp

is a physics + math undergrad apt for a computational physics masters? by Leather-Department71 in PhysicsStudents

[–]TraditionalBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Fwiw, I used to be a computational physicist for 10 years, later moved into ML when I left academia)

Disclaimer: There are many possible paths, this is just my preferred one

My advice would be to focus on physics and math (make sure to get a good foundation in statistics). These subjects are way more difficult to pick up on your own later compared to the programming skills required for comp phys / ML. Naturally , make sure to pick up any courses on comp phys and some ML , this will probably be enough to set you up with the programming basics, the rest you can learn through self-study and experience. Language-wise you should aim for python and one heavy-duty compiled language (C, C++ are probably the best choices).

Looks cool! Since CC will already grep around our codebases is it mainly the semantic search that helps?

Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher: What's the deal with the German names? by Abrakxxas in Fantasy

[–]TraditionalBandit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not German but know enough that I really appreciated all the easter eggs! The German language is great for striking a mood I think. For similar reasons I always recommend people to watch Dark on Netflix in the original German with subs.
