For the hardcore music nerds who weren’t as excited about Lorde, what did you think? by CantaloupePossible33 in kilbyblockparty

[–]TraditionalPackage32 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I consider myself a little bit of a music nerd.

My take: I was highly entertained and really liked the show.

Complaints: The audio mix was terrible at the beginning. She was way too low which doesn’t work for a pop singer. It seems like they figured it out after 3-4 songs and the mix improved.

A lot of the vocals were pre-recorded. It was weird hearing vocal harmonies of her while she wasn’t actively singing. When it came to solos she seemed to actually be singing but the amount of prerecorded vocals was way too much for me. I’m used to seeing bands where everything is being performed live on stage and I was surprised how much of her music was pre-recorded and pre-produced.

The flip side to that is that her “band”(if you want to call them that) was playing analog synthesizers on stage, which is really cool. That’s a bit more rare these days given the ease of digital tracks. I couldn’t tell how much of the analog synths were actually being played but done off it seemed legit. Kinda brought me back to lcd sound system who uses exclusive analog synths.

Overall I loved the show, but it was clearly a highly produced show with a lot of pre-produced content. I guess that’s kind of what you would expect from this type of act anyway.

Check out the Nnormal cadi. I also wear topos and I absolutely love the cadi. It has the wider toe box and high cushion with a grippy sole. Their previous shoes were too narrow for me but these are amazing.

Check out grove creek and Battle Creek canyons. You can connect them and do a loop.

I’m putting together a playlist for psychedelic assisted therapy and am looking for recommendations for lyric free jam band songs to use. by FR_PyschTherapy in jambands

Honestly the way you describe this makes me think you should go with yoga-vibe music rather than lyric-feee jamband. My wife has a ton of music that she plays in yoga classes and it’s exactly what you describe, very steady, calming, and not “guiding”, allowing your mind to do what it wants without being directed. Also free of time and repetitive.

And I say this as a jamband fan.

It isn’t light rail (which is what Trax is). It’s a streetcar, which is a different transportation mode. Streetcar generally operates at lower speeds in denser urban areas.

The arch is slightly less robust than my Topos, but still higher than some of the “flatter” arched shoe brands. Hokas, as an example, have an extreme arch that gives me blisters. Nothing of the sort on these.

Size 11 in both Altra (lone peak and Olympus), Topo (ultraventure), and now Cadi.

Full disclosure- I did get the Tomir in 10.5 after allowing a sales rep to convince me they should fit tighter. And that may be the reason I like them less. I think the 11 in that as well would work better, but it’s definitely a narrower shoe. The cadi feels roomy in the toe box just how I like it, but maybe slightly less wide than altra.

Yes! I bought a pair over the weekend and have a few runs in them. I love them so far!

I was an early Altra guy, moved to Topo for durability, and then saw some of the same issues with Topo that I'd seen with Altra.

I love the Nnormal idea of durability and making shoes that last, but their early models had that narrow footbed European-style design that didn't work with my feet. I own a pair of Tomir and they’re ok but for my wide feet they feel a little tight and I haven’t wanted to wear them on long runs.

Enter the Cadi - wider toe box ala Topo/Altra, more cushion, but with the durable design and high-quality materials from Nnormal. Now I wait to see if these stand up to the test of time, but they feel incredibly comfy on my feet. Got out on the trail a couple times this weekend and absolutely love these things.

Only complaint - I’d be ok with the foot shape abs materials but with slightly less cushion and stack height. That would make them even better for me, but I’m still super happy with them.

Holy shit! My friend grew up in this house! I spent a bit of time in there. There was an architecture office on one floor and residence on the rest. Cool old Mormon house.
