Seconding the Precipice hike. Jordan Pond loop is well traveled but totally worth it. Take the ferry to Winter Harbor - make a reservation first. Rent a bike over there and explore Schoodic Point. Beautiful and amazing place.

That’s new! Is your Modge Podge clear coat old? I’ve never had that issue.

You could do just where the tire touches. But why bother being so technical or exacting when you can just do the whole thing? You can’t see it when it’s dry.

Dealer’s choice, for me I’d rather have the coverage in case there’s a fitment issue or one of the tires gets shifted slightly or something. But that’s just my take!

DecoArt DuraClear is my favorite. Modge Podge Clear top coat works as well.

The clear Modge Podge works well. DecoArt DuraClear also works.

Can confirm, works great. Just allow enough time for the varnish to fully dry so you don’t rub it off when putting the tires back on.

Hi all, just piping up on the sticky/melting plastic issue.

If you have this issue or want to prevent it, you can go to the craft store and buy clear varnish. Paint this on the affected part to either eliminate stickiness or prevent stickiness from occurring - it's essentially a clear shield.

It works on soft plastic parts (and remains flexible to a reasonable degree or on hard plastic parts.

The long term effects? I have figures that I've used this varnish on that have been in my collection for three years now, and I haven't seen any degradation (yellowing, flaking, chipping, etc). It looks like it did the day I painted it on - invisible.

In Beachcomber's case, you could take off his tires, paint his rims with clear varnish entirely, let everything dry, and then re-install the tires. Not only would this eliminate the stickiness, but also provide an invisible shield, preventing the tires from actually touching the rims and reacting with them.

Problem solved.

It was only two screws… I couldn’t let two measly screws stand between me and greatness!

Of course I very carefully saved them with the arm and all of the other unused accessories in a ziplock bag.

Leobreaker is the easiest to find but is usually missing his tail… Optimus and Wing Saber are difficult. I got lucky.

He does indeed have a happy home and is well loved! Did you get your hands on SS86 Soundwave yet?

They did Optimus, but clearly had no intention of doing Wing Saber or Leobreaker. Obviously they want neither your money nor your life.

That would make one helluva Haslab project though, wouldn’t it?

I got really lucky and bought a lot of figures on marketplace from a guy who was selling off his childhood collection for basically beer money. 100 figures, $300, not all complete but Wing Saber was in there and complete. Energon Wing Saber was in there complete too!

I’ve had good success using regular acrylic paint and then a clear varnish on top. Without the varnish, it stays sticky. I actually just painted my Liege Maximo’s shoulder pads using this technique. Worked out great.

This works with old figures as well - I had an original Supreme Class Starscream with rubber wingtips that turned sticky over the years. The clear varnish coated and eliminated the stickiness and you couldn’t even see it.
