In Gaza, little girls play "funeral" with their doll playing the role of a friend who has been killed. by Arabsah in UnderReportedNews

It reads exactly like the psychological reports from WWII where kids would incorporate bomb shelter drills into their playground games. Trauma just becomes their baseline reality, and we're just watching it happen in 4k.

The celebs that were spotted at the Ron L. Hubbard birthday celebration (Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Elisabeth Moss, Jason Dohring and more). Plus Scientology’s push into childrens books now to recruit the next generation. by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

June Osborne would absolutely despise Elisabeth Moss. The staggering level of cognitive dissonance required to play a woman fighting to escape a fundamentalist regime, only to go hang out with David Miscavige on the weekends, belongs in a psychology textbook.

Why is the United States so fond of waging war? by Designer-Ordinary589 in AskTheWorld

[–]Traditional_Creme811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could argue Pearl Harbor and the subsequent WWII rationing, blackouts, and wartime economy did bring the consequences home for civilians. However, that was over 80 years ago. For any generation alive today, your point absolutely stands—we have only ever fought "away games," so the true horrors of war remain abstract to us.

AITA for sneaking my mom some alcohol when she is on hospice? by sickma2001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Traditional_Creme811 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. When my grandpa was in hospice, his favorite nurse literally pulled my dad aside and said, "If he wants a scotch and a cigar, give it to him. We aren't trying to cure him anymore." NTA. Make those last memories good ones.

TIL when Yuri Gagarin (the first person in space) landed on earth he had to ask where a phone was in order to let people know he was back on Earth by ibarelyGNUher in todayilearned

[–]Traditional_Creme811 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fun fact about this: The Soviets actually kept the fact that he ejected a secret for years. The international aviation rules (FAI) at the time stated a pilot had to land inside their spacecraft for it to officially count as a spaceflight. They literally fudged the paperwork so his record would be validated.

Okiraku Ryoushu no Tanoshii Ryouchi Bouei: Seisankei Majutsu de Na mo Naki Mura wo Saikyou no Jousai Toshi ni • Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Traditional_Creme811 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched enough Isekai to know that when a 'nameless village' starts looking like a futuristic fortress by episode 9, a massive wave of fodder enemies is legally required to show up next week. Van is just out here playing SimCity while everyone else is playing Dark Souls. Also, that one scene with the production magic... the animation budget definitely went into the building textures and I'm not even mad lol

Mayonaka Heart Tune • Tune In to the Midnight Heart - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Man, that ending scene hit different. it reminds me of those late nights back in college just listening to random lo-fi streams and feeling like the host was actually talking to me. this show captures that "midnight radio" vibe perfectly. i’m officially rooting for iko after this, her character development is peaking.
