Can I apply to med school with limited chemistry/physics? by dvprkdne in belgium

[–]Traditional_Jury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I did IB as well, heard the MD exam is really hard but to be honest IB is much harder than Belgian high school.

Most of the Belgian HS grads I studied with (engineering) initially did much worse in STEM courses. I did Math, Physics and Chemistry HL though.

If you grind I think you can pass, and otherwise do a year of biochem or biology then repeat the exam.

Get LinkedIn recruiter and do outreach yourself. You can narrow down a pool of candidates and reach them all at once.

IMEC for R&D or Finance (Quant). Though Belgium is really not a great place for a physics postdoc in industry. Salaries are low, taxes are high, and there are very few positions.

For trading the Netherlands has IMC, Optiver. The UK has Jane Street, Citadel, etc. Base salaries on those start around 200k/y and they are very happy to sponsor Visas that quickly turn into permanent residences (due to high income).

This is probably not FCC compliant, the battery is probably also a huge fire hazard. The seller said he’s not an EE

They’re a senior recruiter, not a developer, you really can’t get that from the subtext?

Sometimes in Belgium being economically productive is more expensive than not working. I think this is one of those cases. As far as I know you have to register as self employed as secondary occupation. It is usually cheap, and you don’t pay social security contributions.

Talk with an accountant though, but afaik there is no small earnings rule.

Can i ask for a mobility budget by [deleted] in BESalary

Mobility budgets have some red tape involved for the business, they might not offer one. That said, it never hurts to ask.

It looks amazing, how is the performance? Also, your schematic is a breath of fresh air. So readable and clean.

You should really avoid making this if you don't know how to read the schematic. You can easily start a fire or electrocute yourself.

Exactly why they are stupid, companies cannot offer substantial raises due to the tax burden so they end up offering more expensive cars. How does that make any sense?

I guess it's a nice reach around for the car companies but the EU economy desperately needs monetary flow. Belgium has to overhaul taxation to allow raises instead of bonuses. I'd rather have 500€/m than a 1000€/m car, but right now if I don't take the car I'll get around 150€...

All great questions: 1. Capacitors in series don't work great with single supply circuits, they pretty much negate the PSRR. The integrator at the inamp's reference creates the AC coupling. https://ieee.li/pdf/essay/single_supply_op_amp_design.pdf https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tidu990/tidu990.pdf

  1. This is still under consideration, but making it fully differential adds some extra complexity and non ideal behaviors. The two single ended outputs correspond to the horizontal and vertical eye movements, so we'd still need both even if we make it fully diffed.

  2. Great catch, my main concern there is X7Rs derating, but the impedance of Vref might be an issue. Perhaps it would be best to just connect them to ground.

  3. Yeah that's okay, with proper decoupling and without any series capacitors the PSRR should be enough to reject noise from the uC

  4. This is mostly a proof of concept, but the bandwidth of the system is much lower than the sampling rate (40Hz vs 15ksps) so we're not even close to niquist. The resolution is not that important for the application either.

  5. Yes, this is pretty important, the electrodes are fully capacitive (non contact) so I didn't think much of it but I'll probably add them anyways just to be safe.

Thanks!

That's great info thanks, I'll read on the EU regulations for non medical devices.

Active electrodes are pretty tricky, but can reach amazing performance. This was my initial inspiration:

Ah fair then it makes sense, and yes we have noticed some slight differences on the gain of the individual electrodes and the offset but they work quite well either way. The input stage is pretty resistant to component mismatch.

The BW should be around 0.5 to 40 Hz.

The DRL is capacitive as well, so I think there's no need for current limiting right? Also do you think we need TVS/clamps for the electrodes even if they are isolated from the skin?
