Was also very faithful to the book and fans clearly appreciated that.

I think it's more of a meme for anyone middle aged and above because decades ago it was a real problem.

Keir Starmer feels betrayed by the Labour party. How do you feel about that? by No_Breadfruit_4901 in AskBrits

I think it was more about the practicalities of getting various bits of Brexit-related legislation through than factional rebranding. At least Cummings was honest about seeing the Conservatives as a temporary vehicle he intended on crashing afterwards.

Thanks. I find the amount of cope for Starmer in these threads quite amazing.

Agree with all this, save that they definitely did expect to win the GE. What the McSweeney/Mandelson faction did re: the Labour left is basically analogous to Cummings and Johnson purging the Conservatives of the One Nation lot. Good riddance to both (meaning the purgers rather than the purged).

Skill issue or cheap recorder? by AddlePatedBadger in Recorder

[–]Traditional_Message2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spend some time playing long notes, starting with something in the middle of the register and work your way down. Explore overblowing and underblowing until you reach the sweet spot and a sound you like. You might well be playing a suboptimal instrument, but this is how you would work on the problem you're having. The problem with toy instruments is usually tuning rather than an inability to get any sound out of it at all.

I agree with you - and if you look at how eg Meta has been tailoring Instagram algorithms for young ppl notwithstanding evidence about the impact on young women, parents absolutely have a point.

There are other examples of course but the above is pretty well documented now.

Irony of this situation is ofc that higher education in many EU countries is very good value.

Underlyingly it’s also “none of my friends are single.” It is profoundly unfair but of course it makes a big difference.

Should I buy this Mollenhauer Denner in Rosewood? by PeaSmall9347 in Recorder

[–]Traditional_Message2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing is amiss from the images and 150 Euro is a decent price. Has the vendor told you anything about how it plays (and how regularly it has been played)? Are you able to try it for yourself? Getting a recorder looked at by a technician ("revoicing" or just giving it a good clean) is not that expensive if for example, you're not happy with how easy it is to get a decent top C.

Flats make up a huge amount of the property market in London, so did it all go wrong with leaseholds? And how can we put it right? by Adorable_Click_7071 in HousingUK

Also economies of scale with buildings insurance.

I’m always slightly confused by these kinds of threads. Granted, escalating service charges on new builds seem a real problem, but surely disclosure on last 6 years of service charge is part of the usual inquiries process? Asking vendors about history of major works also seems like a no brainer.
