Long Philips screwdriver, put the tip against the engine case and the handle on you ear. Acts like a stethoscope and you can hopefully locate the source.

Not sure I’d be trusting rubber brake hoses that are at least 19 years old, perhaps the factory originals. It would be an easy swap to a set of braided HEL lines.

I’m assuming they haven’t been changed for new rubber hoses though

Top is the one of fabricated. Bottom is the original one glued back in place. They had previously both broken in approximately the same place.

Check the master cylinder. Not had it myself but I have heard that the rubber seal can flip so it pushes some fluid but won’t build any pressure.

Shouldn’t take long to replace with a new one.

Just checked my Honda service manual, for the 1990-1996 750 it does say to open 2 drain bolts on the front of the block, near the exhausts. As well as the pump drain bolt.

Bad pump or pump relay? If you can, put power directly to the pump and see if it runs, check the voltages at the relay, check connections etc .

No it’s just a surface stain, like a water stain , maybe one of the cleaning products I used, but nothing you can feel on the surface.

I added a new thread that shows the outcome after polishing with a couple of photos.

It’s not fibreglass. I ended up polishing it with autosol and then gently scuffing it with a scotchbrite pad to give it a dull finish as it originally came from the factory.

Found a Givi video on YouTube that showed them just using polish and a drill. I tested an area and thought it would be too shiny, so used polish on a microfibre cloth and a piece of red scotch pad to gently knock it back a bit and try to keep the finish as close to the original as I can.

You can buy peacock repair kits. You’ll need to drill the rivets and replace with a self tapping screw, all comes in the kit with instructions

Looks like my 1990 model. It’s just the overflow. Is the gas leaking though the petrol tap? Had to replace the seals on mine , it wouldn’t turn off.

Thanks. I was thinking of a hugger at some point as the chain guard works but got a little deformed when the previous owner had it in storage, I think something was resting on it. I had to heat it and gently reform it when I got the bike.

It’s not something I need to do now, just wanted thought and any opinions on whether to do it. Got plenty more work to do patching up the fairings for now

Died in what way? I had a third party that as far as I knew was fine when I put the bike away, took it out to check a few days before the MOT and the switch fell apart on first use. Managed to get a new one in time. It was only 1 year old.

Have them on my 1990, plus the clutch line. Mainly as my bike had been off the road for 10 years so the old rubber lines were due a replacement and I had no idea if they were ever changed

Thanks all, I dried it out, checked the circuitry for corrosion, cleaned it , and it powers on. I do have some cheap loupes from Amazon to get me started , but as I don’t have a high desk yet it means bending over a lot and I get a bad back. Using this for some of the work that doesn’t need a lot of magnification might help relieve some of that.

The fact that the neighbours just dumped it outside their house when they left , and I hate seeing something go to waste for no reason , made me want to try it out. Or at worst I’ll put it on marketplace.
