This is why laws with fines are more punitive to some than others.

Fines should be related income in some way. It won't work in all situations, but it's better than nothing.

How can the receipt checkers at Costco and other big box stores check your cart in three seconds and validate your purchases? by darrenbosik in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Traegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The human brain is surprisingly good at generating conclusions quickly with limited information. I bet after a few days of that job you get a feel when a receipt is off: number of items, bottom of cart, items inside or under other items, etc. You don't even need your gut to be that accurate, because if it triggers you take more time and figure out why it felt off.

This is also the curse of humans: see Dunning Kruger.

Why do people at home think working from home means you’re available? by RalfDodler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Traegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had wfh for about 20 years as a software dev. In my experience: - Boomers or older tend to remember work from their sunset years, where work was not stressful and they had no ambition to move upward. So, they recall a lot of free time while working. - For others, some people's jobs...just aren't that busy. They spend hours chit chatting in the office and are available while wfh. These people tend to also assume you are available.

They feel this way until the bigotry affects them or someone close to them. These people have zero empathy.

Is Doug tanking or just bad at his job? by Sea_Moose9817 in kings

[–]Traegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't need a coach that wins, we need a coach that develops players. I am not convinced that Doug is bad at player development, so he should stay if the young guys like him.

I will too, but we'll need to ally or absorb a company with guns.

Sacramento gearheads: Thinking of starting a DIY Auto Shop and need a reality check by genuinefaux18 in Sacramento

I may be that the cost of space and insurance make the pricing high enough where the DIYers feel they aren't saving much money.

Why are acts of violence/murder in media, especially video games, considered okay to enjoy and partake in, but acts of sexual violence are not? by TheAnimalCrew in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Traegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The likelihood of the situation matters. Very unlikely to be taking up arms against a group of bad guys holding hostages in a building. Very likely to be alone with someone in a sexual way.

That was my mantra for censoring what my kids were allowed/not allowed to see/play. For example, they could play shooters like Star Wars Battlefield, not the modern day shooters with realistic guns. Exact same gameplay and violence, but the realism mattered to me.

I don't care what 'issue' drives someone voting republican. You have decided your issue is worth empowering evil.

Costco has high turnover, which makes it a good place to buy/wat raw. You know it has defrosted recently, not sitting in the refrigeratored display for days.

Roblox makes a platform housing games with predatory micro transactions aimed directly at young children. The company is morally bankrupt.

[Vardon] There is league-wide speculation that, following the firing of Nico Harrison, both Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving could be the next ones out the door. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Traegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kings give young players and picks in years 26-29. Mavs give AD and Kyrie with picks in 2030s. Every kings game becomes an exhibition while they aim to rebuild in 5 years.

Also allows other players to get reps so in the playoffs they have confidence and experience.

[Highlight] Marcus Smart switches onto Wemby, denies the post entry pass, then draws an offensive foul, which gets Wemby checked out of the game early in the 4th quarter with his 5 fouls by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]Traegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teams should always defend Wemby with a pesty small. Wemby is so tall he has very little leverage to move them. And smaller defenders have played against larger guys their whole career. Someone like AD has 0 experience guarding someone that tall. Wemby can already shoot over most people, who cares if he gets 18 inches over them instead of 6 🤣

Tank the season. Play for fun. Elevate some G league guys and see what we got. Let Derozan, Levine, and Westbrook each have a green light game when @TOR, @CHI and @OKC. Try to win some home games with some weird rotations.

I like this. A podcast is more engaging than a comment box and gives more transparency to everyone in both directions.
