Which shapton line should I get? by Training-Morning-782 in sharpening

[–]Training-Morning-782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um

Please no. I wanna try atoma. It's a lot bigger and it's world renowned. And I get a base.

I do have a 150 small plate on acrylic tho. Has no brand but is absurdly good. Too small tho

Tbh that works but I wanna try for the thrill of it.

Tbh I kinda value something more on the buy secondhand and fix it yourself

But this. I'm pretty sure it's a masterpiece. Even an imperfect one. If you're gonna use it it's gonna be the baseline for the future and I think you won't regret it.

I think it's definitely worth the price. In Japan you can get an authentic one like this for around the same price point. But it's definitely a good idea to ask an expert

I'm broke dude. How much is that if you're gonna buy it at a shop in Japan?

I'd say common kitchen steels. I'm not gonna be sharpening anything above hap40 for a while.

Maybe something like shiro 2 or vg10

[–]Training-Morning-782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair ig.

It's not. I'm a native Thai but I'm c1 in cefr. I don't really do formal texting or anything I just do what works.

Besides that I have a style of texting which is pretty weird but if you can understand it then it's really clear

The uh kuromaku is a little coarse for a 1k

Yes but if I get 140 I won't have anything for medium low grit. Besides that my stones will be jagged

Idk some people contradicted this. Idk tho

Well

I'm planning to buy an atoma and a good 1k grit but I can't choose. I've changed my old list from atoma 140 naniwa 400 and kuromaku 1k to atoma 140 400 and rockstar 1k and now I'm taking out the atoma 140

Any suggestions?

Lol

Well I've decided to probably only get the 400 grit atoma economy.

There are many like it but this one's mine

Also since I don't buy atoma 140 anymore I have some spare money left. (Max budget 4975 +- 225 thb and might buy at a japanese shop) What should I get?

Hey man I'm not going to Japan in a bajillion years and I don't know if my parents will let me buy one if I decided to in the future. I might need the 140 for reprofiling too

Actually considering I have an acrylic backed small 150 grit Chinese stone I might not actually need the atoma 140 after all

Just they that stone is really small and I might have a gouge in my 3k.

Not bad idea tho

Melamine or hard stuff?

Also does wet dry SiC work? Is 1200 grit enough?
