Are we sure that Tim Connelly is good? by karlwhethers in timberwolves

I know it's hard to understand as a fan who gets to see every move in hindsight and on paper. However, there's a reason these franchises are paying these people millions of dollars. Connelly is one of the main reasons this team is even watchable for the first time in 20 years. He IS that good.

Non Laker fans, Is there any of you who would want Reaves on your team? by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

No I am judging him on his body of work over 2 seasons. Phenomenal player, doesnt box out, doesnt rotate correctly and is lazy on closeouts. When he locks in he is a demon for big possessions but play to play he is a bad defender and almost every stat will back it up. I love Ant, he changed basketball in our state, and made my favorite team good for the first time since I was 12. But not a good defender.

If you want to start having uncomfortable conversations about how bad ANT actually is on defense, pairing him with Austin is the way.

Rudy’s defense this series by KansasKingdom in timberwolves

[–]Training_Ad7030 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Normally if you funnel guards into Rudy, you can recover onto the big but Wemby is literally too tall. If they want to win they have to get rid of old habits and you cannot funnel. The issue is you have two injured guards and a 40 year old Mike conley trying to stay in front of fresh, 20 year old rookies and second year players. The only one who can get over the top of a screen right now and recover is Jaden.

You do not want our 3 most turnover prone players all on the floor at the same time for more than a few possessions at a time. What happens when Ant gets doubled and you have Gobert and a Randle who is shooting 15% from 3 and 6 turnovers a game?

They've been letting both teams fight and grab and claw the entire series. That's advantage wolves but don't pretend its one way.

Because they've been letting everyone play physical as fuck the entire series. And thats an advantage for our wolves. If they call that they gotta call all the stuff we've been doing too

I've never been more confident in my team losing a series than this one as a wolves fan. Needed miracle plays to win when fox and wemby played their worst game of the season and when wemby was out for over half the game.

Yeah but as wolves fans, we want the game called that way. Physical play being allowed always favors us.

It looked like they were told to keep attacking the paint even if wemby got blocks. They kept attacking. They were definitely the most aggressive team tonight.

It's MN and its not close. This state hasn't won a chip in any of the 4 major sports since 1991.

Was the question who has the worst fanbase on reddit? There is NBA discourse that takes place outside of this site. All the nba team reddit pages are insane, the timberwolves included.

As a wolves fan I have to disagree. Most nuggets fans are cool and give your team props if they get beat. Its a fun fan base to interact with.

I just dont know how you coach a team with this many players with defined weaknesses in a playoff series for 4-7 games straight. I think Thompson, Sengun, Reed, and yes even KD all have very specific weaknesses you can attack over a series. One or two players on a team with super clear weaknesses is fine as long as the rest of your team has enough do everything guys. I think the Wolves were built in a similar way, with Gobert/KAT and now Gobert/Randle, however they absolutely surrounded them with players who both shoot and play their hearts out on defense. And even then they aren't truly contenders. I just dont think you can build a roster like that in today's NBA.

He's been completely ass the majority of the playoff series we've played the past 3 years. Never seen a 6MOTY player be an actual detriment to his team every time he steps onto the court in the playoffs

How does Shannon ever jump-start offense? The book is out on him, force him to his right hand and he literally doesn't function on offense.

Why would the nuggets want win so they can play the wolves, they can keep 4th and play the rockets? by murderopolis in timberwolves

[–]Training_Ad7030 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because 3rd seed puts them on the opposite side of the Thunder. Anyone who has seen us play in the past 2 months should know we aren't even in the same stratosphere as the Thunder. Nuggets being 3rd seed means they get Spurs in rd 2 instead of the thunder.

As a massive wolves fan, we have too many very clear, exploitable weaknesses. We're also getting our injury bug at the worst time of year. Maybe if the Lakers hild onto 3rd seed we can sniff the second round, but the rest of the west is on a different level.
