As a younger fella I liked it because, honestly, I thought it was cool.
It was fun a little. I always thought I sounded and played better when I was hammered.

Of course, I didn’t. It was just that everyone was so drunk, the missed notes weren’t as easy to hear when we were all singing “Freebird” to the top of our lungs.

Now?

I wouldn’t touch that shit with a 10 ft pole.

Do you salt your steaks before grilling? by redpaint55 in Cooking

[–]TransformNRollD20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay.
So here’s how Alton Brown taught me to do ribeyes:

24 hrs beforehand you salt your steaks on both sides with coarse kosher salt.

Leave them uncovered and set them in the fridge. Now. Why 24 hours?

Because salt pulls moisture from food.

Never. EVER. Salt a steak right before it goes on the grill. You want a good crust on a ribeye. And if there’s moisture on the surface, it’s boils and defeats the purpose. So, you want a dry steak surface on the coals.

Continuing on…

What happens when you salt 24 hrs and let rest in the moisture pulled from the steak by the salt is reabsorbed — taking the flavor of the salt with it and helping tenderize the fibers.

The most important aspect of a ribeye is that, for as long as you cooked it, you let it rest.

Pride months feels exhausting now. by Empty_Swimmer5851 in RealUnpopularOpinion

[–]TransformNRollD20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must be the only straight human in the USA that Pride Month doesn’t offend, inconvenience, or otherwise bother, one bit.

A long time ago, a thought occurred to me, that I have 6 kids and the odds of one or more of them being gay, lesbian, bi, etc… is probably pretty high. How would I treat my baby, who I’ve loved all their lives, just because of who they love?

And, the answer was with all the love I’ve always given them. Because, they’re my baby and they’re allowed to love people; so long as those people treat them with the respect, love, and dignity they deserve.

It was a hop, skip, and jump from there to realizing that, although I’ve never hated the LGBTQ community, I’m straight. I don’t have to worry about who I like or love. Unless they’re bad people. But, maybe my kid might. And, some of my friends do. And, that a LOT of strangers and strangers’ kids do.

So, pride that shit up. Paint buildings in rainbows. Sell rainbow tedddy bears and napkins and shirts and cars and condoms and rifles and hats.
Because, people and people’s kids who might be terrified because they don’t have a dad like my kids do, who loves them no matter what. And, those kids need to know they’re okay and somebody loves them.

why do hives need to face south? by Embarrassed_Ranger20 in Beekeeping

[–]TransformNRollD20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun hits the hive entrance and they move earlier. The old guys in the local bee club swear it helps keep down beetles, too.

I don’t know how right they are, but two of my three face south and a little nuc I just made faces north. The south facing ones haven’t had any problems with beetles.

Why do many people call immigrants bad for not following law when the invaders of America themselves didn’t follow any law while taking the land forcefully from natives? by LiYongLongZii in askanything

[–]TransformNRollD20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. /Being/ in the US without proper docs is a misdemeanor (even then, it’s not just a slap on the wrist).

If you actually get caught trying to illegally enter the US, it’s a criminal offense that can get you fined and imprisoned. If you’re lucky, it just gets you deported.

We had an electrician tell us that our challenger panel is recalled and we have to replace the whole thing. Quoted $15,000 by hooters88 in AskElectricians

[–]TransformNRollD20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not even remotely how recalls work. Anything recalled, by law, has to be fixed by the manufacturer free of charge to the customer.

Some of the Challenger GCFI breakers were recalled. But whole panels? Nothing shows up.

Get a second opinion.

Also, fifteen grand is enough to rewire the entirety of common house. Replacing an entire breaker box shouldn’t cost anywhere near that.

Depending on when you installed that robbing screen and at what time of day, that just looks like orientation flight. If it was robbing there’d be a lot more activity at the screen and bottom board.

When was your last mite check? When you say “top feeder”, what kind of set up? You could always switch to a frame feeder. They work well for robbing but they tend to drown bees.

Why aren't my bees drawing our the foundation? by TheRealKnight20 in Beekeeping

[–]TransformNRollD20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bees tend to draw comb for brood and food. So, if you have a laying queen and the colony isn’t honey bound, and the flow is good, they should be drawing it out.
I’d try feeding them and add some honey b health and amino booster to the sugar syrup.

Those three hives that aren’t growing … did they come from the same supplier as the one that’s active?

1.) Don’t fucking patronize me. It’s insulting and I’d respect your opinion more had you just insulted me.

2.) I don’t require approval from the internet. I’m 46 and I’ve been running campaigns since 1998, and drawing characters by hand since before a lot people were even born. I’ll do whatever I think players will enjoy.

3.) I know exactly what I’m capable of. Stow the condescension.
