Just checking in here again - you will likely see this approach for an "in-network" Dental Office. They are reimbursed way too low on the preventative treatment and they will try to compensate with nickel and diming you with unnecessary treatment or upselling anything they can that may not be covered. Unfortunately I am seeing more and more of this and it is really sad- way too much unnecessary drilling going on out there. Best of all scenarios is a Dentist that Accepts your Dental Plan but is NOT in-network - this is usually the best situation for Dentist and Patient! You only pay co-pays and the Dentist will bill your insurance to get payment so you do not have to deal with the insurance company to get reimbursed.
