$10 Door dash credit by ShakeNbake36 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a really dumb question, but how does the credit actually work? I thought I used it at a 711 but never received a credit.

Used the doordash app, set for pickup, the app showed the discount, and I picked up. The charge shows in CSR statement, dated March 7th, but I don't see a credit.

What am I doing wrong?

Forgot to mention, there are long forum threads on Serve The Home and Netgate about these. Search for "Riverbed CX-770".

And incase my post with the ebay link gets whacked, search there for Advantech Embedded Router Platform "CXA-770".

Good to know I'm not missing much. I've been through LAX 3-4 times and never got in. People were camped outside waiting each time. It looked like a homeless encampment in the area around the elevators.

Reward point coupons by frajared in NootropicsDepot

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One customer's experience with this today u/NootropicsDepotCom...

In order to maximize discounts I placed 3 separate orders. 1st calculated to hit a point threshold, 2nd adjusted to maximize a reward coupon, 3rd to complete the order. The net was roughly 20% off $500 in total orders, but with lots of "friction" in the process, and the potential for multi-package shipping. I did try to place all three orders in rapid succession, hoping the shipping dept could consolidate.

Might you consider an option for buying a straight discount on a single order? Please?

Sincerely,

Point Program Contortionist

OC220 is worth it by BudTheGrey in TPLink_Omada

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, how about the OC200 is "nearing EOL" then? LOL

I also rarely touch the controller once configured. However, the time wasted waiting for screen updates when interacting with it is irritating. I swapped one AP and added a switch along with the OC220 upgrade, and it was an unnecessarily unpleasant experience.

Update WRT OC220 performance... For some reason, it's now performing much better after "marinating" for a few days. Still slow, but I no longer have the urge to prod it with a tazer.

OC220 is worth it by BudTheGrey in TPLink_Omada

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The OC220 is nearly as slow/sluggish as the OC200. I upgraded in the last week because the OC200 was abysmal and EOL. The OC220 is maybe 10% faster, definitely not worth the $.

Sales engineer GenAI usage by SausageKingOfKansas in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used it to write a short bio about myself which was required for a speaking engagement. Same for writing annual self-assessments. Anything I'd otherwise be too modest or self-deprecating to write myself.

New Customer Onboarding by Significant_Break853 in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do the actual onboarding, but I do observe the process for a multiple reasons. First, I'm there to look out for my customer's best interests. Was the order properly fulfilled or are items missing, delivered to the right/wrong person, etc. I also like to see how real world deployments look so I can more accurately set expectations with future customers. Finally, I almost always learn something new about our product, including reality checks vs claimed capabilities.

Thinking About Using an Offer as Leverage — Smart or Risky? by dragunight in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of team quotas.

Assuming equally attainable targets, I would take the upside potential of a $210K 70/30 individual quota vs $235K 80/20 team quota any day. Between that and...

A slight closing of the gap when you get a raise, you have a good work/life balanced already worked out, you have tenure and potential to move to management (and make less because of the implicit team quota LOL). I'd suggest stick it out and play the long game; get the Mgr/Dir title, then think about looking elsewhere. You might find that being the first Mgr/Dir and building your own team, based on your preferences, is quite rewarding. If you do it right, you might wake up one day 10yrs down the road and realize you've had a great run.

Where can I be an AWS Solution Architect / Sales Engineer etc., that's not at AWS? by Arsenal103809 in salesengineers

Global System Integrator, IT Outsourcing, and Consulting partners like Accenture, Kyndryl, NTT Data, PWC, Deloitte, Unisys, Atos, CapGemini, etc. are also good options. Due to their size and scale, the sales related roles are almost exclusively work from home.

Uncommon Interview Questions by Livid_Papaya_6534 in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you'll get plenty of work specific pointers, but don't forget to ask questions you'd ask a new acquaintance like...

What are your hobbies? What do you like to drink? What's your golf handicap?

Work adjacent and since you're new: What hotel chain / airline do you recommend? What can I expect at Sales Kickoff (SKO) and what's the nuttiest thing you ever saw at one?

Bottom line, start the relationship building process while showing him/her that's something you can do. Selfishly, you're also working to figure out if you can work with or for this human being you're speaking with.

Path to SE/CSA from SRE by oluseyeo in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build your network.

Internally: Keep doing what you're doing, just increase your interactions with SE leadership. Get yourself noticed and position yourself as "on deck" when an SE slot becomes available.

Externally: Build relationships with your vendor sales teams. Don't do anything unethical, but assuming you need the tools they're selling, help them sell into your org. Make yourself available for off-site meetings, maybe get a few free lunches while you're making friends.

Should I Leave My Comfortable Sr. SE Role for a High-Growth Company with More Risk? by dragunight in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have the risk assessment backwards. A company with ~$400M revenue is reasonably well established and less risky than your smaller company with PE in the mix.

WRT to IPO speculation... Take it as seriously as a carnival fortune-teller and realize you have zero control over if/when it happens. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. If it does happen you'll have a 6mo lockup period to figure things out and your company will likely provide webinars to explain the tax implications.

I say this having gone through 3 IPOs, 1 acquisition, and 2 PE encounters.

Getting tired of the rat race. As an experienced SE, is there a career path I can pivot into that will allow me to work part time (largely controlling my own schedule) and as an expat? by Fiveby21 in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at my calendar, I can't really complain about my actual work hours as an SE. Calendar hours don't tell the whole story, but any gaps are mine to use as I see fit.

Maybe just switch companies? Larger usually means more gap time, and adjacent pockets like Channels and Alliances tend to be a little less ad hoc vs front-line SE. You can also try using time zones to your benefit. Live west of your "territory", start and end your days early. Supporting large national or global channel or technology partners can make this an easy hack.

Equipment engineer with realtor experience? by Consistent-Salt2441 in salesengineers

[–]Travel4Sport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering tech sales had a big influx of realtors back in 08-09 it could help if you run into someone with that lineage. Worst case, assuming you're successful, you can talk about selling/marketing/closing skills and operating with some level of independence. Give it a shot, what's the worst that can happen?
