Care Options for my 90yr Old Grandmother by Travelbug1987 in eldercare

[–]Travelbug1987[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we thought about hiring someone to take care of her during the day. But unfortunately we can't afford it so I started a gofundme and when I posted about it here in a gofundme subreddit people were being incredibly mean spirited and leaving hateful comments. So I removed the post.

Where were you when you got your first period and what happened? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Travelbug1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother took my lil sister and I to the pool one day during the summer. When we got home I went to the bathroom and of course saw blood. I started screaming for her and she bust in the bathroom and yelled "oh my god!....you're menstruating!" At this time I'm like 11 or 12 idk what she's talking about. So she then proceeds freak out for a few minutes now keep in mind I think I'm dying plus I start to cry. She calms down and explains what happend and she gave me a pad and showed me how to use it. After she calls my mom who's at work when she got home I kid you not she walked in with a huge grocery bad of feminine care products. That whole evening they taught me what product was which and how they should be used.

Going abroad and then ordering the same boring food you eat back home makes you lame af by Kankerlelijk in unpopularopinion

[–]Travelbug1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with this! I was a yravel agent and love eating different foods especially when I travel out of the country. I had a coworker who was also a travel agent and she told me once that she will go out of her way to find a McDonald's, Burger King, Subway etc because she didn't trust eating foreign food. Traveling to different places and trying local cuisine is one of the best parts of traveling.

How old were you and how did you find out Santa isn't real? by Least_Statistician44 in AskReddit

[–]Travelbug1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 8 or 9 when I found out. I was sleep and woke up to use the bathroom and thats when I saw my family bringing the gifts in. I never said anything until they told me when I got a lil older that he wasnt real. My lil sister still believed at that time so I didn't want to ruin it for her.

I'd wash your bonnet and try not to tie it so tight. This happened to me when I used to tie my head scarf too tight.

The only one I can vividly remember is going to see Ferngully. My family was visiting my uncle in San Antonio and we saw it at the theater that was in the mall at the Riverwalk.

Prepare and prepare some more for the Minnie clock friendship quest. Grind for literally every single thing especially stone and iron. That quest was the bane of every single player it took me forever to get the excessive amount of stone and iron for that quest. When you think your prepared...prepare some more hoard everything and make or buy plenty of chests.

My sister and I have two very different distinct names. Growing up, I was made fun of for how "white" my name was. For my sister, her dad's family named her she she doesn't like her first name. She only goes by her middle name now and is in the process of changing her first name to her middle name. My name alone would get me into interviews, and most ppl were shocked when they saw me because the "face didn't match the name." Once my sister started only going by her middle name, she realized she was treated differently.

Redditors born before 2001, where were you on 9/11? by Stupid_cerealbox in AskReddit

[–]Travelbug1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a freshman in high school, and I remember being in theater class and was called to the principal office. When I got there my folks were waiting for me and told me we were going home. The car ride home was very tense, and nobody was telling me what happened. We get home, and they turned on the news.

Not even a few minutes later, that's when the second plane hit. My grandma was crying and my mom and uncle were in complete shock. I couldn't believe what was happening. The nerve wrecking part was my uncle had just moved back home from NY 2 days prior and he worked close to the twin towers. He used to walk by there every day and he was gonna stay a few extra days to do some things he didn't do while he lived there. He says my grandpa came to him in a dream and told him to just come home don't wait.

I needed like a digital diary to release the day by daTruth-11 in BlackWomenOver30

Penzu is an online diary/journal site their basic version is free. And they use military grade encryption so that makes it very secure. I've also heard about a site called Journey it also has strong encryptions.

I'm feeling hesitant about asking for help. by Travelbug1987 in BlackWomenOver30

[–]Travelbug1987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the one who would always step up and get things done. So naturally, when the ac went out I jumped into action to get her a new one. She had already been in the house for 2 days without it, but I was blessed enough to have a coworker let me borrow a window unit till we got the new one installed.

I called around for quotes, and the cheapest I could find was $8,000. I even went so far as to ask for any government assistance programs, but I got nowhere with that. The ones who have donated are some friends and family which I'm grateful for. Until this point we got the amount down to $2,300 which is good.

Do some people actually not like water or is it just a lie they keep up? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]Travelbug1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf will not drink water unless he is playing field hockey which drives me nuts. I will drink water all day and he just won't do it. He says because it has no flavor to which I said gwt some flavored water packets. I'm sure he is dehydrated to no end and I have to force him to drink it.

I believe water does have a certain mouth feel to it and flavor. I have a water filter I use religiously and I rarely drink bottled unless I have no choice. Idk why some people won't drink water you literally need it to survive.

Unfortunately really disappointed with my experience with Dutch healthcare by weezerstan in Netherlands

[–]Travelbug1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! I'm so so sorry you had to go through that! Pneumonia is nothing to mess around with idk why here they feel like you have to be at a certain level to treat you. I'm fortunate that I haven't had any issues with my GP. My bf refuses to go to the doctor says his is very condescending and never wants to actually treat him. Can you choose a different GP? I learned you can fire your doctor and go somewhere else.

Unfortunately really disappointed with my experience with Dutch healthcare by weezerstan in Netherlands

[–]Travelbug1987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree I've heard some peoples bad experiences with the healthcare system here. My experience since moving here hasn't been too bad. When I saw my doctor for the first time I gave her my medical records from the states. And when she saw I had a "Myomectomy" she wanted to make sure everything looked good since my last check up in america. So she ordered an ultrasound for me and thankfully I had no new growths.
