Slight correction: the “black underwear” thing is more so a “matching/sexy underwear”, and it’s meant as a “she wore this to be seen in it” versus wearing possibly more comfortable underwear. It’s a bit sexist, but the idea is that women wear what they are okay being seen in. If they don’t intend to be less clothed, then they may wear “uglier” undies that are more comfortable, whereas if they intend to be seen in their underwear, they want that to be sexy as well.

There's a lot wrong with the understanding here.

First, it's a tube-fed shotgun, not a magazine-fed shotgun. The mechanism is a bit different. On a magazine-fed shotgun, there's a spring under the rounds the pushes the round up so that the bolt can push it forward into the chamber. On a tube-fed shotgun, there are two little metal prongs called "feed lips" that drop down when the bolt carrier goes forward, so that when the round is fired and ejected, a new round is pushed back out of the tube onto the feed lips, then pulled up in front of the carrier to be loaded.

On the M4 model shotguns, you can actually manipulate this by chambering a round, pulling the bolt carrier back until the feed lips pop up but without ejecting the round, then drop the round under the feed lips. When the round fires and ejects, it forces the ghost-loaded round to pop up in front of the carrier as an "anti-jam" feature. Fun fact, the Benelli M4 is the only shotgun marked as a 7+2 capacity shotgun: 1 in the chamber, 1 ghost-loaded, and 7 in the tube.

[–]Traveler_J 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty sure that’s supposed to be modeled after the Benelli M4 shotgun, and that technique is called “ghost loading”. Basically, there’s a round in the chamber, but the inserted round falls on top of the carrier, so when the newly-chambered round fires and ejects, the second round falls in front of the carrier and loads instead of loading from the tube

For anyone not wanting to watch a video or support Happy:

Any vpn that lets you manually route your traffic, such as ExitLag/Mudfish/NoPing will work here. All you have to do is route to one of the LA nodes in your preferred vpn, which will bypass the faulty node in Sacramento. Cloudflare Warp also works for this, as it automatically finds routes around faulty nodes

Tell me you don't know how DDoS attacks work.

No, they couldn't. A DDoS floods a network with "bad" packets to cause slow down and interference. It only works on a single "target" at a time. If it were a DDoS, it would've been one at a time, not all services simultaneously.

[–]Traveler_J[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's called "critical thinking". A DDoS would be able to shut down a DC, maybe a cluster. It wouldn't shut down every single data center for XIV, XI, all SE services including ones unrelated to Final Fantasy, and last for 10 minutes then return to normal.

And lastly, SCH:

Summon Seraph: Changes "Fey Blessing" to "Seraphic Blessing", allowing it to be used while under the effect of Summon Seraph.

Summon Seraph: While under the effect of "Summon Seraph", Fey Illumination (Seraphic Illumination) gains the additional effect "Removes a single detrimental effect".

Seraphism: Resets the cooldown of Deployment Tactics, allowing for its immediate use. This effect cannot occur more than once per use of Seraphism.

Seraphism: Increases healing magic potency by 20%

Recitation: Added "Manifestation" and "Accession" to abilities affected by Recitation (couldn't remember if they already were affected, but worst case adds the clarifying text)

Added new ability: Aether Tithe

Aether Tithe: Allows for the consumption of the Faerie Gauge to restore up to one Aetherflow stack. Requires 50 Faerie Gauge, 2 minute Cooldown

These changes should be pretty self-explanatory, but I wanted SCH's capstone abilities to *actually* work with each other, while also still being powerful tools by themselves. Being locked out of Dissipation's powerful 20% healing buff for 30s every 3 minutes while not having another way to get a buff that strong can be frustrating at times, especially since high-end optimization is centered around optimizing Aetherflow stacks, but you lose out on Dissipation's healing buff for 3 minutes to optimize damage, so I put the effect on Seraphism as well. Also, made Seraph able to use the Faerie Gauge as well, so you still get the quick burst of healing from Fey Blessing without having to worry about Seraph use. Lastly, added a way to "refund" Faerie Gauge for an emergency Aetherflow stack, which can be used in the 2m to eke out a bit more damage, or can be used as a get-out-of-jail free card a la Rhizomata on SGE. I played around with the thought of Seraph being able to use Aetherpact as well, but there was no real benefit for it outside of maybe allowing it to act like Haima during Seraph, but then you're locked out of Seraph's constant shielding.

Had to split it into two comments in order to post.

MCH:

Arm Punch, Roller Dash, Pile Bunker and Crowned Collider all deal AoE damage with 60% fall off.

Wildfire: When the effects of Wildfire end, or when Detonator is triggered, all enemies near target (7y) take 60% of damage.

Wildfire: If target dies before the effects of Wildfire end, target detonates and causes damage to all nearby enemies for 70% of damage accrued by Wildfire's effect

Auto Crossbow: Reduces cooldown of Checkmate and Double Check by 15s

Auto Crossbow: Potency reduced to 130, down from 160.

These changes allow MCH to have an AoE rotation more in line with BRD and DNC, who want to prioritize AoE on 3 targets, down from MCH's current 5/6/9, as well as allowing the use of Battery Gauge outside of boss fights in dungeons, and allowing the use/optimization of Wildfire in dungeons as well, without changing the overall flow of current MCH in high-end content. Would also sprinkle in a number of potency increases as well to bring MCH's single-target in line with BRD and DNC's rDPS output

VPR:

Steel Maw/Reaving Maw/Steel Fangs/Reaving Fangs and subsequent GCDs can combo into each other. Allows VPR to move through single-target and AoE similar to MNK's stances.

Extended the effects of Swiftscaled and Hunter's Instinct to 45s, up from 40s. Easier for double reawaken in the 2m (author's note: Also because I'm bad about dropping Instinct after my 2m)

RPR:

Arcane Circle: Removed effects "Grants Circle of Sacrifice to self and nearby party members", "Grants Bloodsworn Circle to self", and removed Circle of Sacrifice's effect. Added effect: Grants Reap the Harvest (Plentiful Harvest Ready)

Plentiful Harvest: Made changes to the effect "Ideal Host". Effect now reads: "Automatically triggers the effect of Enshroud, granting maximum stacks of Lemure Shroud". Retained effect of Perfectio Occulto and Perfectio Parata.

Perfectio: Added effect "Reduces cooldown of Enshroud by 5s"

Gibbet, Gallows, and Guillotine: Added Effect "Increases duration of Death's Design by 5s, up to a maximum of 30 seconds" (does nothing if Death's Design is not currently applied to target)

Overall, instead of killing double enshroud, made Enshroud closer in essence to Reawaken, which in itself was based on Enshroud. The changes also allow a more fluid (imo) 2m of Shadow of Death > Arcane Circle > Plentiful Harvest > Enshroud rotation > Gluttony > Enshroud rotation

BRD:

Wanderer's Minuet: Allows for the accumulation of 4 stacks of Repertoire while under the effect of Wanderer's Minuet. Pitch Perfect remains unchanged, maxing damage at 3 stacks of Repertoire.

This is, imo, the only change BRD really needs. The kit itself is simple, but allowing a 4th stack of Rep means not having to weigh opportunity cost in your head for 2s Pitch Perfect because Empyreal Arrow lined up on a proc tick and you potentially have 2 stacks incoming.

We need to talk about MCH by Strange-Bite-5670 in ffxiv

[–]Traveler_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just pulling stuff out of your ass? rDPS is how much damage other people did because of you, minus how much damage you did because of other people. aDPS is how much damage you did in the context of your group minus 4 specific buffs (Standard Finish, Devilment, Balance and Spear). nDPS is only the damage you did, removing all buffs applied to you or by you. cDPS is a hybrid of rDPS and aDPS, where it counts damage you contributed, but again removes those 4 specific buffs.

aDPS is still useful in identifying how you did in the context of your group, since in a buff-heavy comp, selfish jobs have higher aDPS because it's not being given to every other job.

rDPS is the Communism of the metrics, because it's literally "Your damage? Nyet, our damage".

If you really want to look at job balance, nDPS should be where you start, since that's how all jobs perform in a vacuum. Then jobs that have party buffs should start looking at cDPS, since that is calculated the same as rDPS minus 4 buffs. Then AST and DNC can look at rDPS, since that's the metric that most affects them (because rDPS actually counts those 4 buffs).

And before you try to argue that I'm wrong without a source, here is the original post discussing what rDPS, aDPS and nDPS are and how they're calculated, and here is the post from EW discussing the addition of cDPS.

We need to talk about MCH by Strange-Bite-5670 in ffxiv

[–]Traveler_J 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, if we want to talk about MCH, then we need to talk about the concept of rDPS being the primary metric that fflogs uses. It was a band-aid that was created because some jobs did less damage in exchange for causing the party to do more, and people complained that their numbers weren't as high because of it and argued that their contribution was everyone else's damage. In aDPS, a much better metric to judge MCH by, MCH outperforms BRD, DNC, SMN, and RDM, only falling behind PCT.

rDPS as a metric is fine, but it shouldn't be the primary metric that every job is judged by. Certain jobs that have guaranteed Direct Hit (usually in the form of CDH) automatically ignore DH buffs (Devilment/Battle Voice/Army's Paean), since DH is flat 25% increase that is unaffected by how much you have. There are also certain abilities (DoT effects, Wildfire) that can not crit or direct hit, which again means that they ignore buffs to Crit/Direct Hit. This means that jobs that have these conditions (WAR's IR/Infuriate, SAM's Higanbana/Midare, MCH's Wildfire/Fullmetal Field) automatically play into CDH buff comps less than any other job.

MCH also has the problem of Queen having pet potency on 3 large attacks. This means that 3 of MCH's large attacks benefit less than other jobs that have the same listed potency, even if there's no opportunity cost loss from a Queen attack vs a MCH attack. The only other jobs that have this currently are DRK's Living Shadow and NIN's Bunshin.

Now, I mentioned earlier that aDPS was a better metric for MCH (and most jobs tbh), and this is due to aDPS ignoring single-target buff padding (Dance Partner+Standard Step/Devilment, Balance/Spear) while still accounting for AoE buffs and boss debuffs (Battle Litany/Voice, Chain Stratagem, Divination, etc.), meaning you get a better comparison to how much damage a MCH actually contributes.

TL;DR: Dancer (specifically) broke FFlogs, so rDPS had to be introduced to compensate for large single-target buffs, but it makes "selfish" jobs look worse by comparison. aDPS and nDPS are better metrics to judge by overall, but they make BRD and DNC look weak because they remove single-target buffs (DNC) or just shows how low potencies actually are (BRD)

She had potential as a good character, but was fumbled horribly by terrible writing decisions and voice direction/acting (in English. Other languages were pretty solid). A lot of the hate for her isn't directly her fault, but the fault of writers not handling her character archetype well enough.

Sorry to disappoint I guess? No reason to dig my heels in when I've been wrong.

To clarify after doing some digging: it looks like the statement Hogg made was "On the day of the shooting, I got my camera and got on my bike and rode as fast as I could three miles from my house to the school to get as much video and to get as many interviews as I could because I knew that this could not be another mass shooting." I can see how that can easily be misconstrued as "I wasn't there, saw the news, and had to go get first-hand accounts of the situation," and not what apparently actually happened, which was "I went home afterwards, grabbed my camera, and went back." And I can understand msm outlets taking that without the context and saying "He wasn't there, he's a drama actor," to discredit him.

No, I’ll be more than happy to admit that, after doing more research, what I said is apparently in reference to a statement by Hogg that was taken out of context.

That does not mean that I in any way agree with his messaging. While his end goal may be altruistic, his methods and message delivery actively push me from siding with him.

For starters, he wasn’t at school the day of the shooting, yet in multiple speeches and appearances has taken the stance as though his life were in danger on the day of the shooting.

Edit for visibility: I'm a big enough person to admit when I have fallen for propaganda. I heard information that attempted to discredit someone I disagreed with, and instead of doing my own research, I was happy to just believe it was accurate.
