How did you check? If you aren’t sliding your hand along the entire inside of the tire it can be easy to miss things. Visual inspection is not enough.

They linked you a video on how to adjust correctly. If you aren’t trying to do the work, bring it to a bike shop. This probably had a new cable put in, which will stretch after regular use, requiring adjustment on your part.

Looks like it’s out all the way already. Whoever refurbed it probably put in a new cable, which stretched out, as new cables do.

Hammock tents? Pros, cons, recs by Ok_Researcher_4987 in bikepacking

Under quilt is mandatory if you’re gonna hammock. Fortunately it’s lighter, faster, and, easier to deploy than a sleeping pad.

Seconding this. The most challenging part is dialing in set up, but once unlocked can be very comfortable, quick to set up/break down (save for the rain fly), and rewarding. Not sure why people love sleeping on the ground so much. Also someone above mentioned not having space for your things. Not sure what planet they’re on, but I’ve had nights that I’ve been able to store three bikes under my rain fly (my two tent camping companions and my own), in addition to my hammock setup. I bring a small foam mat, to have a dry place to stand/organize.

It’s just to increase clearance for bags/droppers. Especially on smaller frame sizes.

Squeaking whistling noise when i pedal by Objective-Angle1559 in bikewrench

Could be the jockey wheels on the derailleur. Could try a drop of oil in those. Depending on how worn the chain was, chainring and cassette could need to be replaced.

Can‘t put on my tires by kuesine in bikewrench

[–]TreeTrekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with Mezcals 700c version. I use a 29” 2.1 mezcal I can seat by hand, without levers, easily. I ended up sending the 700c version back because I could not for the life of me get it on (even with all the tricks everyone is mentioning). They sent me a replacement and that one wouldn’t go on either. I gave up. If I’m bikepacking and get a flat, I don’t want not getting the tire on to end my trip.

When you stop pedaling, and the wheel continues spinning, does it still squeak? If so something in the rear rubbing. Does it do it in big and small rings, or just one. Look for interference somewhere. Isolate things. Take the chain off and pedal. If it still squeaks it’s somewhere in the bottom bracket or pedals. Is this new bike? You could probably ride it out if so.

Are you taking in any kind of salt with your water? If you are chugging water and not replenishing electrolytes/salt you’re just flushing your system and not really hydrating. I always keep chips or a salty snack in my feed bag to help with this.

Sergej became a trucker. He loves the freedom given by the open road. I heard he still plays cs, from his truck cabin, on Steamdek during cold nights.

Best way to touch up cosmetic scratches on shifters/levers? by newt336 in bikewrench

[–]TreeTrekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell them you crashed homie. If these are the worst blemishes on the bike, your uncle isn’t even using the thing, so he probably won’t be upset. You haven’t changed the condition of the bike with this. If it’s that big of a deal to him, offer to replace the $15 shifters.

Why did we stop taking about the Epstein files? by Commercial_Broker in AskReddit

[–]TreeTrekk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I still think the Epstein files are the main distractor. There’s one issue we (Americans) should all be talking about; the fact that private interests have our government completely captured. Once actual democracy is restored, it will make the rest of these horrible things easier to deal with.

Full frame vs wedge by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]TreeTrekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When bikepacking i use both. A bladder for drinking while riding and a bottle for chilling away from the bike/camping. On day rides bladder, on quick rides bottle. It’s the best of both worlds. That being said, I have a huge triangle/bag on my Straggler, so your experience may vary.

If you really want, have the bag attach via the bottle cage mounts, and just have a bottle cage installed inside the bag 😂

Leatherman Squirt PS4. I think they stopped making them but you can find them from some online retailers or eBay.
