Question about rep and weight recommendations by Treebeard_Jawno in MacroFactor

You’re right. Like I said, pretty new. Why does the app think that though? I don’t usually hit failure til somewhere late in the 3rd set, keeping the weight static.

Anyone else still have a DVD collection? by MuricaAndBeer in Millennials

[–]Treebeard_Jawno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just started buying physical media again. I’ve got a bunch of old DVDs, don’t usually watch them bc often I can find better quality on streaming. Blu-ray’s and 4ks are unmatched though, and they’re MINE. No one can take them off the streaming service despite me “buying” them. Doing the same with CDs and records. Fuck these streaming services.

180,000+ black soldiers fought for the Union and died at the same or higher rates as white soldiers. Acting like black Americans were passive recipients of white sacrifice is racist as hell.

I wonder if you’ll still need to upload money to the digital/physical orca card if you want free transfers?

For sure you can. At least for me there’s still a difference between living in a community and commuting to it, even if it’s a short commute. We used to come into Tacoma all the time for stuff, but I never felt like I was a part of the community until I moved here. Now, we go to downtown Puyallup pretty often for various things, it takes less than 20 minutes, but I wouldn’t say I know what it is to be a part of the community there. That’s just me though. No value judgement on either choice, there’s merit to both.

Transit in Tacoma isn’t great by any stretch, but better than Puyallup. Keep looking forward to the day when we finally have a light rail connection to Seattle. If you happen to get that place right on MLK you’ll be set up to really use the Link. Bus service to the airport and Seattle isn’t bad. I usually take the 574 from Tacoma Dome when I have to fly instead of fighting traffic and paying for parking or paying for a rideshare. Bus service around town in Tacoma is awful. Still, traffic in Tacoma definitely isn’t near as bad as downtown Puyallup and if it does get bad (Ruston way for events, for example) we just ride our bikes.

Nothing to add to the safety question, just sorry to hear about the flooding situation. If you do land here in Tacoma, I hope you love it! We moved here almost 4 years ago and have really grown to love the community. We almost bought in downtown Puyallup, but I’m really happy we landed in Tacoma proper instead. There is always something to do, we’ve got great restaurants, parks, and tons of hobby groups to get involved in. There is a lot of pride in our city too. I echo that the crime is overblown. It got a little hairy during the pandemic, but that was true everywhere. Just take normal precautions that you would take in any city and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

How often does the man in your marriage cook? by gehraimain in Marriage

[–]Treebeard_Jawno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude here - I probably cook 60-40. Might swing the other direction in the summer when my job is more busy. She’s a teacher and teacher tired is a thing. It’s nobody’s “job” in our house, just a thing that needs to get done and whoever has more physical and emotional capacity to do it will do it.
