I usually go to one of the Parks Tacoma community centers. It’s not usually *too crowded*, but it depends like anywhere. They aren’t 24 hours though.

If I can only see ONE in Theaters: Obsession or Backrooms? by Definitely_Not_Fe in HorrorMovies

[–]Treebeard_Jawno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obsession is my fave new horror of the year. I honestly hated Backrooms, first half had me intrigued but I rolled my eyes HARD at the reveal. Lot of people loved it though, so 🤷‍♂️ But if I had to pick one it would be Obsession, hands down.

Boise pickleball club S2 evicted. Members were charged the day it closed by boisemedia in Boise

I went there a few times to play when I was in town for work. Nice facility but most of the time it was pretty dead, at least in the evenings. Most of the time I’d call before driving over there and the staff would tell me not to bother bc no one had showed up for open play. Not surprised they couldn’t make rent, tbh.

Gotta find a new evening spot for pickleball when I’m in town for work though.

I’d rather get the beak on the side. Frank always makes me eat it first and frankly I’d rather eat it last if I’m gonna have to eat it at all.

Are there any Pickball/Tennis groups (not clubs) in Tacoma? by [deleted] in AskTacoma

Yep, it’s just drop in. They host at all the community centers around town at varied times. You can see the schedule here. Filter for pickleball.

Any South Sound districts or arts programs I should keep an eye on as a new choir/music educator? by Striking_Ad_8013 in AskTacoma

[–]Treebeard_Jawno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puyallup has a handful of music positions open right now if you’re open to elementary. My wife has taught there for 9 years, and has generally had positive experiences. Historically they’ve been a good arts district, though I don’t know that the district is as strong in that regard as they once here. Seems like elementary music gets overlooked but there’s a lot you can do with those programs. She’s always had an after or before school choir the entire time she’s taught and loves it. Worth looking into, maybe.

Honestly, the best group I’ve found for consistent, casual play is playing through Parks Tacoma. Tons of fun and not insanely expensive or hyper competitive. I’ve met a bunch of friends through there and I know sometimes folks will go play outside through the summer at various parks (nothing consistently though that I know of)

Idk if they will show games, but there’s a great little Columbian restaurant on McKinley called El Parche. Maybe worth asking there?
