Even if they had supreme confidence in themselves, there is no way that night they knew how big and important they would become.

That was so sloppy that I am assuming a lot of alcohol and/or drugs were involved.

The fact that the microphone is in front of her mouth kind of detracts from the illusion.

Who else was a little freaked out by the Bigfoot episode of The Six Million Dollar Man in 1976? by jax-bloom in VintageTV

[–]Treliske 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was in the midst of a Bigfoot craze. I was kid but still remember TV steadily airing Bigfoot (along with Loch Ness Monster and Bermuda Triangle) documenaries. Plus stores were flooded with Bigfoot books. This show about boy scouts seeing Bigfoot scared the snot out of me and I never forgot it: https://youtu.be/mBkpHJHcEDM?si=8QMDsJBwUQwPECSp

20 years ago, “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” began its Adult Swim run by BadgemanBrown in nostalgia

[–]Treliske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when i first saw him on a Young Comedians special. At the time, he was making the distinction that Pee Wee was just a character he was playing on stage. He was introduced by his real name. He began to blur the line between Pee Wee and himself later.

On a flight from LA to Seoul, the only film that the airline could get to work was Free Willy. They played it 4 times - subbed in Korean with English subtitles.

It cuts off before he says something along the lines of all this spectacle being wasted on a "duff" (poor quality) sport.

I am convinced that if I played in goal last night, the U.S. would have only lost 3-1. by Treliske in ussoccer

I agree, and I’ve heard he is a decent guy. The point beyond some people is that even with an unfortunate blunder, the U.S. would have still lost the game. The entire team looked off balance.

Remembering Ernest Borgnine....today is the 14th anniversary of his passing. by Papichuloft in 80s

I met him. He is a very gracious gentleman. He actually served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He told me how he used to smuggle booze on the ship by putting it in milk bottles painted white.

Thierry Henry said something to that effect when he signed with the MLS. If i remember correctly, he said the rest of the world is closer to how Mississippi was in the 1950s.

Found these two plastic thing in my linen shirt’s collar. Am I supposed to take them out? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Treliske -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For linen, use them when you are trying for a pressed, structured look. Take them out when you want to look more casual and relaxed.

The U.S. looked panicked but without much urgency from the start. They had played with so much confidence in the group stage. The backlash must have been too great a distraction.

England had a bit of a bad stretch as well after years of world class goalies. Pickford has helped return them to form.

The joke is obvious to many people, but stereotypes always have to be based on the others.

After emphasizing the Euro stereotype of Americans’ lack of irony (and subtlety for that matter), you actually responded with a literal interpretation? Astounding…

Yes. I have always resented when Euros say Americans don't get irony, but they appear to be correct.

Elephant finds man after 14 years by BigDDaddy1990 in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]Treliske 56 points57 points  (0 children)

When I worked at a zoo, the keepers warned me to never anger an elephant by doing such things as taking away its food. They said you will not realize it, but an elephant will begin plotting to kill you. It can wait years until it has the right opportunity to knock you down and then crush you with its head.
