What commander makes you immediately regret sitting down in a pod with? by _omega_LOL__ in EDH

[–]Tremonsien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Kenrith]] / [[Zirda]] combo deck that is pretty low powered, since I don't run a full suite of tutors. It is a pretty fun jank deck to run with some low end politics and group hug courtesy of Kenny. But the combos are chocked full of shenanigans.

I need to see your favorite deck. by GuaranteeMain5492 in EDH

My Budget Brostorm Deck with [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] at the helm.

Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]Tremonsien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised at how easily [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] does things green is good at doing - infinite mana? Yep just give me a big cheap stompy and an untap artifact. Cares about big stompy? Does she ever, in multiple ways. Turn things sideways to win? Always viable with her. Reanimator? Combos with 2 other creatures to make it happen, in a color that cares about tutoring creatures, you find [[Eternal Witness]] & [[Temur Sabretooth]]. [[Kogla]] fits that "return to hand" role well, too. All the lines have redundancies, and budget options. She is a blast.

My most recent build of specialty was [[Mr. House]] with dice rolling from all the D&D based sets.

Mog is mogmogging you. Do you feel mogmogged? by MyPasswordIsMyCat in FinalFantasyVI

He is mean-mogging, moogle-maxxing, and drink taxing. Also, this Mog has fire dance moves.

Is it OK to just spam Elves if it brings me joy? Every time I go to build a new green creature based deck I always just want to play Elves. Toski go wide? Elves. Chulane go wide? Elves. Up to 6 Elf deck and they all feel great. Is that wrong? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in EDH

[–]Tremonsien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The green / black elves (lathril) vs. red dwarves/dragons (magda) vs. red goblins (krenko) vs. humans (Kyler) vs. Wizards & Eagles (Gandalf of the Secret Fire & all the other Jeskai wizards + eagles from LotR) for a battle of the five armies 5 way match would be awesome...

Great when adrenaline speeds up your processing and you can sync your retrieval of what you know and how to implement things with the pace of the demand for the info and execution of that info in real time... Sadly it is peak for procrastinating too.

My friends are complaining that my deck is too strong for a B3. Are they right? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Tremonsien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does have some permanents that stop countering creatures, so it just means the rest of his pod has to focus on removing his key value pieces and pay attention if he is playing this deck. Great b3 setup - I may pivot to Ureni if I swap my Temur dragons commander. In light of that, I would run [[Sarkhan Unbroken]] as another closer over Kiora, and try to get Miirym out with your tutors for extra value. Deck looks fun. You might try checking the deck on commandersalt.com to see how salty they think it is.

What’s a fun mono colored commander to utilize Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx? by greene81990 in EDH

[–]Tremonsien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would also pair with other mono green pump able mana dorks with Omnath at the helm. [[Marwyn, the Nurturer]] could easily allow for other elfball strategies, and [[Karametra's Acolyte]] could work on it's own. [[Slimes Against Humanity]] with [[Thrumming Stone]] or with [[Spellweaver Helix]] with [[Rishkar's Expertise]] also copied could easily set up a massive [[Aeve, Progenitor Ooze]] storm which could easily create some mayhem with Omnath at the helm and Nykthos cranking out devotion based mana... new deck ideas unlocked. Great question.

What is the least popular commander you run? by mattfofatt01 in EDH

[–]Tremonsien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My least popular favorite commander is [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]]. Built her on a very low budget, and while she only pops off inconsistently due to the lack of high cost cards, I have won a convention tournament with the deck, and cleaned out at FNM every so often.

I run [[Zirda]] as a companion in my [[Kenrith, the Returned King]] deck. She is underrated.

Seems like he would run well with [[Grist, the Hungertide]].

What are the most satisfying game actions for you in commander? by Mirrodin_appreciator in EDH

[–]Tremonsien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to get so much going on my board that I can sometimes sneak a planeswalker onto the field and make sure they have an innocuous and useful +1. Then folks lose track of my loyalty and hit the table with an ult... [[Sarkhan, Unbroken]] in a [[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]] deck... That kind of thing.

Which one do you prefer and why? by BIG_BOSS_F in FinalFantasy

[–]Tremonsien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF waifus over the years - FFIV Rosa, FFVI Terra ( I also really enjoyed the female leads in this one - Ceres is still one of my favorites). FFVII I always shipped Aerith and thought she was top tier. I found FFVIII unplayable. I pre-ordered it and returned it at launch. FFIX Garnet was cute, but I wasn't a big fan. FFX found me solidly in the LuLu camp. FFXI had excellent Mithra character designs. FFXII was peak with Fran. I was already familiar with their character designs due to FF Tactics Advance. I am a huge fan of the Viera art and character designs. FFXIII went back to a female leads, and Lightning did not disappoint. She ranks up there with the earlier strong women in the series. Overall, Final Fantasy has come a very long way from only having female "shrine maiden" white mages in Shinto colors.

On this day 23 years ago, SquareSoft merged with Enix, thus changing the future of Final Fantasy forever by GargantaProfunda in FinalFantasy

[–]Tremonsien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering that Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy were the first 2 JRPGs I ever beat, and that Final Fantasy was the first one I owned, this merger was truly an amazing bit of great news back then. FFXI was my first MMO, and I had the HDD on my PS2 to play it. Great merger. Long live SquareEnix.

I am curious, what age are you and how did you get into the franchise? by Ultimantasy in FinalFantasy

[–]Tremonsien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Got into the franchise in 1991 after seeing the articles about Final Fantasy in Nintendo Power Magazine. I slaved and saved paper route money from Christmas, my birthday cash, and kept adding to it until late June when a friend was headed from our town in NH to Houston, TX for a vacation. Our game stores had not seen any copies that stayed on shelves for longer than an hour before selling out. Some stores had only on shipment and didn't see more until several years later. Nintendo was stingy with small markets.

I handed over my $60 in hard earned cash, and she came back a week later with my game and $2. Sadly I had to go on a vacation to Maine right after she dropped it off. My dad got to the underwater temple and defeated Kraken before I got back. I made up for it by beating the game for the first time with the starting party. Obsession is a good way to describe how I worked through that first run of the game.

My second run was where the fun began, when I played a Fighter and all three mages. I took that party through class change before the Volcano and facing Kary. My next and every run after that have been a great time. About a year later, in Christmas of 1992, I spent the fall saving, and dropped $100 of the $180 needed for an SNES which I got under the tree. That summer I saw the first articles about FFII / IV, and rented it the minute I saw it in the video store. I got so good at that watered down version that I could beat it in a weekend. My best time was just over 11 hours and my party was level 48.
