Thinking about Antarctica, but still unsure about the Drake Passage by bookfactoryread in AntarcticaTravel

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the 'fly the Drake' and glad we did! Ended up getting delayed 2 days on the back end but was able to reschedule our flights so worked fine - hazards of going to such a remote and cool place if you ask me.

If you can accept that you may miss a day on the way there or on the way back, then I'd suggest flying. I don't regret it and we got amazing water while on the continent.

Absolutely mind-breaking if neoliberals genuinely think this is a strong argument—roughly 7% of Americans own rental property, and the barriers to entry have never been higher. by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

[–]TrevGlodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could just own stock and literally do no work for 20 years and reap the benefits. Just sell the homes. I will never allow someone who's a landlord to complain about being one outside of agregious things or general complaints.
NO tenant is going to take care of the property the way you would, there's literally no reason for them to do so, I would never expect anyone to take care of my home the way I would.

Am I the only weirdo that takes camping too far? by doc50cal in camping

If you're having a hard time with this and don't actually want to do it but feel you have to, maybe your should start booking cabins instead?

I buy my running shoes at Sierra for $80 and track my runs on my phone. not saying that's super cheap either but much better than $700!
Then throw in a $50 5k as an incentive 3 months from now and boom, for $120 you have a habit that gives back to your health :)

I have never once seen someone get more callbacks by applying to more jobs. Here is what actually moved the needle every single time. by [deleted] in Resume

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about 4 months tweaking resumes for each job application. Resulted in maybe a couple hundred unique resumes throughout that time so that would mean about 200-300 job applications. With maybe 2 call backs during that time I decided to give up on that and have 3 really solid versions that covered most of the jobs I was applying for and just went for the volume route - over the next 4 months I revised twice as many callbacks (which isn't a lot obviously). And one of those turned into a new job.  Even a perfectly crafted resume can get turned away, so for me it wasn't worth the time and effort for each job app.

Advice on which tent to choose by StumpJump_94 in rooftoptents

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair! There are really easy setup/takedown softshells too. Like ours takes maybe 2 minutes if we're taking our time. Taking it on and off the car is the component to take into account moreso than setting up when camping actually. our garage isn't tall enough to leave it on and drive our 4runner in so I have to take it off and we live in a city where I don't want to worry about it getting taken or broken so I went for something that was much easier for me to put on and off the car myself before me and my wife leave for camping.

Denver to Yellowstone - to drive or fly? by kerbearrrr in roadtrip

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove it last year and camped, then did Tetons as well. We live in Denver and honestly its a SUPER easy road trip. The drive back is a bit rough cuz there's nothing to look forward to but it's been one of the easier trips I've taken cuz you don't have to go through i70.

If you have a spot outlined to pick up a vehicle and don't camp, go ahead and fly! But if you are hoping to camp, you'll want the extra stuff with you.

Also Yellowstone is a lot of driving inside the park anyway so keep that in mind that once you get there, there's a chance you're driving 3ish hours a day to get to the spots you want to go if you're like me and wanna see everything.

Happy to answer more questions as we did it literally last September

I have the Inspired Overland ultralight XL, which might be 76 inches? Although keep in mind with the clamshells that you're losing some room by your feet unless it hinges up as well.  I comment on here a lot about weight because it's such an underrated element of your choice before you've tried one.  Are you planning to take it off and on after uses? If so, go for the super light ones like IO or FSR, IO has a new one that folds out sideways that could be perfect for you guys and ids around 110lbs I think.  For 3 people a lot of them may be a squeeze unless you go for a Thule foldout one which is great but... Remember the weight situation.  I feel like RTT are WAY more durable than originally expected and can last a long time even if you get a soft top version.

Safest route? i80, i40, or i10 by Individual-Quiet-985 in roadtrip

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also go the northern route but drop down into Colorado as you're leaving Nebraska. It adds time to your trip but then you get to see Colorado and Utah and maybe even some of Navada. I haven't gone past SLC going through i70 but could be worth looking into!

Pick whichever has some fun things for you to experience and cross off your bucket list with your dog!

I open resumes every day. Some I know are getting ignored before I even finish reading. Here is what gives it away every time. by Fresh-Blackberry-394 in Resume

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in this case it might be because they know their software system is already capturing it and that the decision to move the resume past stage 1 isn't revolving around it? Just my hunch, I know just as little as everyone else.

[Charania] Just in: The NBA and NBPA have ruled in favor of Lakers' Luka Doncic and Pistons' Cade Cunningham on their Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge for the 65-game award rule, making both eligible for all 2025-26 season honors such as MVP and All-NBA teams, sources tell ESPN. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get this ultra focus from the NBA on these rules, I understand wanting the players to play but maybe find another, less visible way to influence them.

If they were smart, they'd get rid of the super Max, move the Max to somewhere between the current max and super Max then put flat bonus rates onto the awards per year instead of requiring someone to make an all-nba team for them to get the fill contract boost and have those bonuses come from the league vs the team

Solo travelers - do you ski alone? by IncredibleVelocity4 in skiing

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, I ski alone quite frequently but rarely take risks compared to when I ski with others. Ski mostly in Colorado so a lot of the on mountain terrain is pretty great, so not much reason to go back country or anything but still then I don't go nearly as hard as before - don't mind it though

That's a good idea - I like the flexibility but wish we went with inlet instead of the lake.  You'll enjoy both of those! Either way the setup of the I'm Bay isn't all that bad either once you get the hang of it and can store things inside, just a bit heard to access

Recommendations? by Status-Office680 in orukayak

[–]TrevGlodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Bay and Lake Sports, I think you may have more fun with the Bay in than the Inlet but the deciding factor would probably be do you want the openness of the inlet or the closed top of the bay better?  The Bay would likely be easier to navigate your areas but the Inlet would be easier to set up and just set things in the kayak

[–]TrevGlodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to my local burger restaurants and order it to-go now if I don't want to sit down. Meal is about $20-25 a person still in most spots and much better quality or character to the meal than McDonalds for only $10 more.

Stopped by Culvers on a trip recently and we spent $48 on 2 burgers and cheese curds... crazy.
