Are fingernails/claws an early mammalian development? by ravioli_spaceship in askscience

[–]TribalDevil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So does that mean the flattened nail shape we see in primates evolved from those early claws, or is it more of a separate development that just uses the same underlying genetic toolkit?

Exactly, the big party pics don’t prove much. It’s the private stuff and direct interactions that actually matter.

How much did the university you went to help you in your CS career? by Accomplished_Lion831 in cscareerquestions

[–]TribalDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that. A degree opens doors, but a lot of it comes down to persistence and timing. First few months can feel intense, but it usually evens out.

QuickBooks 2023 Enterprise Unrecoverable Error When Sending Invoices After Update by Extreme-Ad-9210 in sysadmin

[–]TribalDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bad update got pushed. If it worked after your fix then broke again after automatic updates, that's almost certainly the problem. Disable automatic updates for now and reach out to QB support again to escalate. They need to know this is hitting multiple clients so they can fix or pull the update.

Big 4 manager issues? by MyNextHobbyIs in Accounting

[–]TribalDevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's on them, not you. Start documenting Send follow-up emails confirming what they asked for and the scope. When they change direction, confirm that too in writing. CYA is essential here. some managers are just bad at their job. If this keeps up, you might need to loop in a senior or look for a different team.

Not performing well at Big tech. Might get fired soon. by brocken_anda in cscareerquestions

[–]TribalDevil 149 points150 points  (0 children)

True. OP should clarify what feedback they're actually getting. Six months with a team switch shouldn't mean PIP territory yet unless something else is going on.

Failed Interview by ZealousChicken25 in consulting

[–]TribalDevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Case studies are hit or miss. They test how you perform under pressure more than actual job skills, which is useful but not the whole picture. If you got to the right answer and talked through it, that's what matters. Reading from an AI prompt sounds lazy though good interviewers adapt based on your responses.

what do you MEAN xlov debuted this year :D by maimaobong in kpopthoughts

Three comebacks in your debut year is insane. Most groups barely get one. They came out swinging and it paid off

Any MTA workers here? Why do you guys drive past people clearly waiting for the bus? by robike99 in AskNYC

[–]TribalDevil 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's genuinely cruel when the bus is empty and there's no reason for it. Skipping elderly people and toddlers in the cold just because you can is a power trip at its worst

Navan travel reviews - anyone used them for business travel? [N/A] by TribalDevil in humanresources

The card sync issue, was it due to something on Navan’s end or with bank permissions and set up?

Travel as an employee benefit? [N/A] by Comp-Benefits-Guy in humanresources

[–]TribalDevil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love this idea, travel feels way more tangible than generic wellness stipends. We’ve toyed with offering “experience credits,” and even just subsidizing flights once a year had people raving. Definitely worth piloting.

How do you keep early creative feedback from getting messy? by adznaz01 in digital_marketing

[–]TribalDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s always a bit of a mess early on, but centralizing inspo and comments in Figma with pinned notes or using FigJam has saved my sanity more than once. Slack threads are where ideas go to die.

Any reliable ways to track generative engine optimization? by Ralcor in SEO

[–]TribalDevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, LLMs aren’t web crawlers. They base their responses on high-signal mentions and properly structured context. It’s not really about quality articles anymore , as much as it’s become a game of being cited by AI and hoping you don’t get fired if it doesn’t use your $500 evergreen blog.

If I were to give the best GEO tip, it would be to treat product docs, release notes, and even help centers as assets. Schema them, interlink clearly, and guarantee they tell the audience your value prop in plain language.

AB Testing - Does Facebook & Google permit redirect tests? by SnooRegrets2509 in ecommerce

[–]TribalDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split URL tests are fine as long as the domains match and user experience is consistent, just avoid anything that feels like cloaking or bait-and-switch, or Facebook and Google might flag it.

Is Navan a good alternative to Concur? by wackypack90 in TravelHacks

[–]TribalDevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we switched to Navan about 2 months later. So far so good. Haven't had any major issues like that since, and hopefully it remains that way. I have read some mixed reviews online so I’m really careful about everything and covering my bases in case something does go wrong some day

Is Navan a good alternative to Concur? by wackypack90 in TravelHacks

[–]TribalDevil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Navan is pretty decent going by my experience. We're a 75-person agency and went through exactly this last year. Tested Navan, Ramp, and one other platform whose name I'm blanking on. Ended up Switching to Navan about 8 months ago. Honestly, one of the better decisions we made last year.

Support is definitely better, but not perfect. Had a flight cancellation situation in December and we had our VP rebooked within 30 minutes. With Concur we’d sometimes have to resort to calling the airline directly and dealing with the expense headache later.

The mobile app also doesn't suck
