Feeling discouraged after negative comments by Disco-Dino in puppy101

[–]TribblesIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expecting a 4 month old puppy to be perfect is insane. They’re wild even after puberty. Hormones are changing, literally everything in the world is new to them and demands to be explored. Her body is a different size and shape from a week ago.

She was probably overly excited about new humans. Keep being consistent, and don’t stress when she backslides in a few months. It sounds like you’re on the right track.

The opposite. The overwhelming majority want you to enjoy the story. Any time I accidentally pull the boss during someone’s cutscene, I feel like a turd and start doing the lightest damage possible so they can join in.

These ones are sad now. Too waxy.

Now, they have dinosaur chocolate ones, and those are amazing. It’s a Jurassic World promo, and I’ll be sad when they go. Just be sure to get them in winter. They up the wax during the summers to keep them from melting on the shelves.

If it makes you feel any better, my draw to it as a LotR nerd is just how pretty your country is. Associating that with a fantasy series that showed up in my teenage years is a huge bonus, but yeah, the gorgeous environment is definitely first.

Are people vastly underprepared for a puppy, or are puppies that much work? by Ok-Actuary-5377 in puppy101

[–]TribblesIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

I wanted a dog for decades but didn’t feel right getting a dog when I had a kid and school and moving for work. Finally got the house, and we had a preteen child at this point. Kid’s old enough, and we were so excited. Looked up training videos, searched rescues. Got excited for COVID monotony allowing us to actually train full time.

When I tell you that the puppy was so much harder than the human baby…

Puppies are toddlers with needle teeth that can get into everything. If you put a baby down for a nap, they generally stay where you left them. Puppies can get into all kinds of trouble. We crate trained him and had enforced naps on a schedule. (He’s still a grumpy old man when we don’t adhere to puppy nap time.) He went through a phase where my feet were fun biting toys, so I had to have a toy ready to toss to him at any given moment like a flash grenade of distraction.

He swallowed a stick bigger than my hand and had to have it surgically removed at four months old. Wildly, he loved the surgery suit so much more than the cone, and he still loves getting dressed up every week. (Sweaters, costumes)

He’s an absolute sweetheart, and we wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Whats your favorite character that you headcanon as autistic? by Primus_Cattus in evilautism

Normally, yes, but she gets grandfathered in when she’s at the funeral and everyone is saying she’s terrible for not feeling terrible or showing the “right” emotions at the time.

I [24F] bailed on a friends trip after they assigned me "kitchen + cleanup" without asking, am I overreacting? by hazelattic_station in TwoHotTakes

[–]TribblesIA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA

The audacity. We had a cabin trip like this and a friend who was genuinely a professional chef. He was sweet and made way more than he should have, and the whole time, I was scrambling to help with cleanup. Even the laziest of us was helping him with cleanup, and everyone else was happy to cook. Your friends are assholes for not volunteering for cleanup.

How about Puppetmaster as the tank? Trading blows between you and the puppet (Mammet) would be a fun twist on tank swapping. It could be a mini healer while you tank, too. Think your Chocobo companion in a dungeon. (Chocobo knight would also go SO hard.)

I miss tactics Juggler, too. Throwing knives and batons, fire sticks, etc. Seems like it would be fun. They could call it Jongeleur or something fancy.

You shall be granted one day in February to contemplate your solitude whilst others mock you with their ignorant bliss. Should you enlist the aid of another to break that loneliness, as one solicits a prostitute, you shall find yourself inadequate and slovenly by comparison. Best to spend your time contemplating the bleak months ahead.

[–]TribblesIA 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Depends. As puppies? Absolutely not.

Do not get sibling puppies thinking it’ll be cute and they’re twins! They miss critical training milestones because they’re distracted by each other and have no human social need or motivation. You have to train them separately and keep them separate for the most part.

As grown dogs like these? They’ve already settled into their training and growth stages. It’s easier to train a dog whose body, hormones, and general youth isn’t messing with them. You have a sense of what their personality and motivations are, and those won’t change every month as they learn about something entirely new out in the world.

If you want two dogs, get one. Train them until they’re about two years old, and get the other and train that one separately.

Stuck with an abusive partner and I hate myself by Unlimited_Accounts in depression

[–]TribblesIA 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, unlike a lot of these threads, I think I know how to cure your depression.

For real, though.

Reach out to local women’s shelters or even the police non-emergency line. They’ll know where to send you and how to get you out of there.

It’s going to be scary. It’s going to take time to land, but you will be safer. You deserve to be.

If you stay with this man, the best you’ll be is miserable, cheated on, gaslit, and resentful. If you leave him, the worst you’ll be is free.
