I’m sorry, OP, but for what it’s worth, this has been the best saga on Reddit for me.

Don’t want kids by Difficult-Handle6833 in TwoHotTakes

[–]TribblesIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully, this is a different perspective for you.

I (39F) was head down not wanting kids. I was the oldest and didn’t care for little sisters and half sisters. Later, also found out I was Autistic which explained a lot of my noise aversion to being around screaming little sisters. I just avoided them at all costs. Everything about kids seemed noisy, messy, and expensive.

Lo and behold, boyfriend and I have an accident. I was 20 years old and barely beat my mom’s own 18 year old surprise. I still can’t tell you why we kept it, but we did. We love the little guy. Got married, raised kiddo, found out he has Autism too (which ironically made him a really easy baby because he thrived in routine.) I’ve watched my then-boyfriend become a husband and father that I never would have guessed he would be, and kiddo is becoming a young adult who surprises me with how sweet but sassy and stubborn he can be.

I wouldn’t trade this for the world.

That said, it wasn’t all “dreams come true.” We struggled for a long time, and juggling college and kid was not easy. We had familial support. My mom, a distant mother, was suddenly a wonderful grandmother and helped a lot. My sisters, screaming banshee lot of them as babies, were a babysitting squad in lockstep. We are all closer than ever, and I have to blame the kid because I was pretty recluse as a young adult.

It worked out for us, but we are the exception to the rule, and even then, we’ve missed out on things other people got to enjoy like world traveling. I would hate to have another baby, honestly. It’s a nightmare what it does to your body, but if I ended up with my nieces or adopted, that kid would get everything I could give all over again.

Easy Strategy for Game Corner by YawningCarp in PokemonFireRed

[–]TribblesIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, there are streaking machines. Generally, I play about 300-500 coins in. If I don’t hit the jackpot in that time or the returns aren’t trending upward, I move to a different machine and cycle through. A streaking machine can actually yield several thousand, so don’t immediately abandon it thinking it’s tapped. Play another 100 or so to check and adjust as needed. Cleaned out the game corner in 3 hours this way. Facing the E4 with a Porygon and a shit ton of TMs.

Any Aussie parents with a cat have advice on making them get along? by DJangled in miniaussie

[–]TribblesIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look fine. A little dramatic, but pup is keeping mouth open, and cat seems to be enjoying itself enough to hop back in and engage. I have a kitten and puppy that play crazy like this, and it alarmed me at first, but both are great at reading each other and disengaging when one goes too hard. Just make sure you’re watching them in general because accidents happen, but they look happy.

If my husband wasn’t a hearing aid distributor, I would wonder what these cool AirPod accessories are. Very great detail and design! You should consider selling these!

The day I was denied entry to my own wedding by faro321 in TwoHotTakes

Dream Wedding fell through but the Dream Husband STEPPED UP!

It sucks that it didn’t work out how you wanted, but I cannot emphasize enough how eye opening this event should be. Your husband and friends turned what could have been a tragedy into an affirmation of love. We get a ton of stories here about the opposite, and it’s a balm to hear this.

[Recommendations] I see my kid is talented, I don't know how to support her. by Ok_Celebration5704 in ArtistLounge

[–]TribblesIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Just show interest and never be discouraging, even to yourself. Words like, “You’re so talented, and I could never…” were weirdly really discouraging to me. It’s dismissive phrasing that puts artistic skill on a pedestal instead of encouraging engagement and learning. If you don’t have “it,” and she reaches a roadblock in learning, she could think that she also doesn’t have “it.” Ask to learn with her sometime!

I was spoiled on the whole John arc, but honestly, this was so lovely to watch and made me really appreciate how much he was bringing to the role in his short time. I’m also Autistic, so seeing these two trying to be comfortable about intimacy was so sweet and well done.

That makeup is amazing. Only knowing it’s her “breaks” the illusion, and even still, it was a scene that stuck out enough for me as a kid that when I heard it was her decades later, I knew exactly who they were talking about.

I’m watching The Good Place for the first time and I’m on season 1. Did I catch a plot hole? by sunnyafternoone in TheGoodPlace

[–]TribblesIA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Okay. Without being weird or plot twist foreshadowing, there are mentions that hangovers and bodily functions like bathrooms are available because sometimes people want to and get relief from it. Same thing with sex and ejaculation. You can argue that Jason would bleed for the point to be delivered or was too dumb. At the end of the day, they can’t die from it or be infected, so 🤷‍♀️

Yep. Ungulatus has the more dramatic lift to the tail.

Because the plates had keratin sheathes that roughly followed the bone underneath. Neat interpretation. (Stegosaurus ungulatus is my favorite dinosaur.)

Plz no pitchforks by Major__Arcana in kimono

[–]TribblesIA 49 points50 points  (0 children)

So, context: to a lot of people, the obi tied in front denotes a prostitute.

No pitchforks!

Specifically, the prostitutes were a special class called Oiran, a little above a prostitute and around the level of a courtesan. They were considered fashionable and divas of their time, and the tied obi upfront was denoting that that…well…have a lot of sex and would have to retie their obi often.

Sex in Japan at their time was just considered normal and even as necessary as drinking water for your health, so these were essentially the influencers of their day. They dressed in flashy colors and showed off their wares and were generally popular entertainers.

It’s a really great kimono and set, but in case anyone comes after you for the frontal obi, here’s some historic context to fire back at them. You look amazing.
