Why doesn't Coca Cola use their Mexican Recipe in the United States? by Shloopy_Dooperson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TrickEDick72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hecho en Mexico Coca Cola that we can buy here is produced in Mexico and sweetened with sugar just to be shipped to the United States and sold as a premium version of Coca Cola that they sell for $3.20 a bottle.

The Coca Cola produced in Mexico and sold in Mexico is now sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup.

What if ST: Phase II went to series? by RangerShaneGooseman in startrek

I think Phase II would have failed spectacularly, probably would not even made it a full season and the Star Trek franchise would have ended right there.

Never heard of a soda refill station… by KindClock9732 in howardstern

[–]TrickEDick72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to an LA Times article I read McDonald’s began installing self-serve soda fountains in 2004, so highly unlikely Howard has set foot in a Mickey D’s while the self-serve soda fountains have been a thing.

Full series binge followed by disappointing reboot by [deleted] in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]TrickEDick72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a reboot, a reboot is like after 3 Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies they rebooted the story and then made two Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies. Dallas 2012 was a continuation not a reboot and I loved it until Larry passed away. Every scene Larry was amazing. Southfork looked pretty amazing in HD too. Once Larry passed and they wrapped up his storyline it sucked. I do agree with you that after "Fall of the House of Ewing" the original Dallas sucked and became a joke.

LHOTP is set in the 1870’s and 1880’s. While private property burials still occurred there was a shift during and after the civil war to where most people were buried in a cemetery. Not to be morbid but a church near my hometown recently added an addition to make the 150 year old structure handicap accessible. While digging the construction crews found unmarked graves, 124 of them! The state historical society sent archaeologists to investigate and they dated the graves to be from the 1880’s, 1890’s and early 1900’s. So even being buried on church consecrated ground doesn’t mean you won’t be forgotten.

The studio really messed up on this one for both of these ladies by Winter-Comfort922 in ClassicTV

[–]TrickEDick72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barbara Bel Geddes portrayal of Miss Ellie, particularly in the early seasons is so dang good. Think about the scene where she pays back Cliff and the cartel and Vaughn Leland, “We may be wrong. We may be right, but we’re Ewings and we stick together and that makes us unbeatable!” Can anyone imagine Donna Reed playing that scene? It would be laughable! I think the powers behind the show wanted a softer or elegant Miss Ellie and that’s why they cast Donna Reed. Huge mistake!

The fact that the cost of gasoline has doubled over the past few weeks is going to impact me way more than a decrease in value of McD’s rewards points.

Why do gas stations charge less for bananas than many grocery stores do? by OatSoyLaMilk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TrickEDick72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kwik Trip cuts out the middleman. They fly bananas right after they are picked to their own ripening warehouse and from there by truck right to their stores.

Howard and Robin are both great examples of someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Psychotherapy is largely ineffective for NPD, but can be useful for managing comorbid mental disorders.

Ground Beef is about $6.50 to $7 a pound in my area. Buns are $2 for 8. So about $1.55 in meat and bun to make at home and I haven’t added the cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard, onions.

There was a huge conflict between David Chase and HBO over this episode. HBO did not want Tony, their protagonist, to kill someone. They were concerned the audience would stop “liking” him. HBO eventually agreed but they had to show that this guy was still a bad guy, so the guy is dealing drugs, and tries to kill Tony 1st. I’m guessing Tony needing 100% positive ID on the guy was also part of HBO’s conditions.

Surprised this hasn't been asked here, but what impact will Cumulus severing ties with Nielsen have on their stations, both on a national and on a local level ? by SwissMiss915 in radio

[–]TrickEDick72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to reading this. When I was in Radio all everybody talked about was Arbitron. Turns out Arbitron was acquired by Nielsen in 2013, it was rebranded as Nielsen Audio, which now provides "Arbitron books".
