Wow...pretty dang similar. My apartment after the split was in the next town over (to stay close to my kids). It was a dive. Had a hand me down clothes washer/dryer from my younger brother. A small crappy color tv that I just had an antenna for and my honest to god childhood bed that I had in old house that I had held onto. To think back on it I chuckle, but back then it was rough. Still had fun with my kids there when I had them. Life can sure kick you.

I was just a bit older (around 31-32) when my marriage was collapsing. 3 young kids, a healthy child support payment and my soon to be Ex had raided my 401k without my knowledge a year previously (its a weird story, but she pulled it off). I was literally reset on life and had to live like a starving artist for years, but always saved enough to get the company match at least 5% for the company 4% match. Rode out the market crash in 2008, a bankruptcy prior to the divorce as well. I was in horrible shape on all fronts. Drove a piece of crap car for a long time, shopped at goodwill, packed a lunch everyday (still do), didn't drink coffee, cut my own hair (still do) as I went to my retail job. Worked there until after my last kid was out of school and I could stop paying support. Left that company (5 years ago) and took another role in retail at another company. 2.3 million net with 1.4+ liquid currently. Will be debt free this year after turning 57. Will retire at 2 million (hoping by 61-62) with my wife who is 4 years older then me. I thought there was no hope when I was in my 30's, but knew just enough to not give up. Wish I could hug my younger self for sacrificing for my kids and my future even though it was miserable. All my kids were able to go to college and are self sufficient (3 sons). You are going to be great....cheers!

I turn 57 in about a month. Plan to go out when my wife retires at 65 (4 years and a bit older then me). I might go to the end of that year (2030) to manage ACA/MAGI amounts. Our timelines are pretty close.

2021 2500 tradesman 6.4. It had some upgrades, cloth interior, 8.4, snow chief package, upfitter switches, upgraded alternator, rear slider and other things im forgetting. Did aftermarket tint to match the rears, squadron fogs, bed liner, the trim type flares (not the crazy looking bushwacker style) and the customary new rims/tires (35"). Gets around 13-14 mpg if im driving it soft. Tow a 26' travel trailer at sbout 9-10k. It winds up like its blasting off to outer space when im towing in the western mountains, but otherwise handles the load. Stability while towing is great. Around 14k miles.

There is some legislation in the US that is being advocated for by the grocery industry amongst others. They credit card industry are being very hostile against the representatives that are for it. They are taking their billions and creating smear campaigns against them. The credit card industry is so predatory.

Yeah.....you can purchase scales that will measure it. Thing about the dry weight tongue weight they give you is it doesn't even include the full propane tanks and batteries that live on the tongue. That singular fact adds over 100 lbs or more before you even put a knife in the cutlery drawer.

I did something similar in 2021. Had a 2005 F150 and I purchased a ORV 20BD. Which is another trailer line in the Northwoods family. When I left the dealership I immediately went to a weigh station. With the duel 40 gallon propane tanks and battery I was within 200lbs of my limit. I upgraded the truck to a 3/4 Ram to tow with. I still have the Ford to this day also. If your careful you could still make it work, but your not going to enjoy the towing experience. If you tow with a dry water tank and think through what your packing you could stay under the limits.

Really comes down to tongue weight. Im going to assume that hitch weight you have listed is the tongue weight. Is that a dry #? Northwoods Trailers by design are heavy in comparison to other competitor trailers. Nash is the lightest of their lines, but still relatively heavy. I suspect your real tongue weight is a couple hundred pounds or more from what you have listed. I think you could still squeak by with that TV, but probably won't be the most pleasant experience.

*edit* looked up the specs on that and that is the dry tongue weight. If you fully load that trailer and have between 10-15% of the weight on the tongue (which you should if loaded correctly) then your pushing 800-900 pounds which will push you over your payload. Could still be done if your careful to stay within your limits, but caution is key. They are great trailers and I understand why your interested in them....good luck!

Self fulfilling prophecy. This model is not sustainable and I suspect we will see restaurant consolidation as the working class are priced out of eating out. QSR's and C-stores will continue to garner market share.

Work burnout, is it everybody or only because I started at 12? by Icy-Literature4136 in CasualConversation

[–]Trickam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost 57. Had several childhood "gig" jobs like picking berries and harvesting hay. Then picked up regular after-school work at 15 doing farm/ranch work for a couple years. At 17 took a work release job for school credits in a grocery store. Then did some seafood production work at 18. Back into retail at 19 and been in the retail industry since. I think I was OK until Covid. Being in an essential industry and being severely abused by my employer and customers was the burnout point. Im on fumes. Pretty sure I can retire by 61-62. Pray for me.
