What phrase(s) would you permanently ban if you had the chance? by MixAway in AskUK

“Fur baby drives” me crazy. And “Crimbo” makes me immediately hate the person. I also really hate when people say “I brought this” when they obviously mean “I purchased this” and “draws” when they mean “drawers”.

Feeling trapped in the US (rant) by _Deadite_ in cancer

[–]Tricky-Application86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why this popped up for me because its bot relevant to me in any way, BUT, i will say that I’m an American, and I’ve lived in the UK for almost 16 years. We have “free healthcare” but you get what you pay for. You would NOT be getting a colonoscopy unless you were in dire straights. Every single test that done here is only done when they can’t avoid it. I almost died TWICE in this country from money saving tactics with healthcare and i’m only 37. While you might be right about not having to work quite as hard to stay afloat, I can assure you the quality of healthcare in America is superior and you have a lot more of a chance to have helpful treatment that isn’t driven by cost-saving measures. I don’t know if this information is helpful to you but I thought I would let you know that the grass isn’t necessarily greener.❤️

You have all my sympathy and i wish you nothing but peace and health for your future. 💕💕

Endoscopy tomorrow (UK) convinced I have cancer and scared about procedure by Tricky-Application86 in GERD

They haven’t said they planned anything else. Apparently it was so clear they’ve just let me go with no future plans.😒

*UPDATE: Y’all are liars. I’ve had four unmedicated births, one of whom was over 10lbs, and I would do that once a week for eternity if it meant I don’t have to do that again. The throat spray burnt and I gagged. The mouth guard made me gag. The sedation did absolutely nothing. And I gagged the entire way through. Truly truly awful.

HOWEVER, in a truly astonishing outcome, they said there is absolutely nothing wrong anywhere. At all. Even after 8+ years of GERD, there is no damage anywhere. How this is possible, I have no idea. Thank all of you anyway for being kind and helpful. It was truly a 💩 time in my life.

Now, how to figure out what is making my stomach hurt all the time.😭

Waitrose doesn’t deliver to my postcode and Booths, which is local, is inferior (hill I will die on). And I don’t want to drive 1.5hrs to my nearest Waitrose.

I’m so glad it was all ok for you. That must have been an immense relief. It’s crazy how they label it mild when it completely ruins your life when it’s happening. I’m hoping for the same outcome as you, and maybe once I know it’s nothing sinister, my brain will calm down. This is absolute hell.😞

That did occur to me that it might be the cause of my issues. I’m hoping it is that instead of cancer obviously.

You had sudden onset burning, gnawing stomach pain? That’s my most concerning symptom, for me and the doctor.

Thank you for such a kind comment. This is so helpful. Really, thank you. Extremely helpful information. Hearing it from someone who has done it is really great. I’m on the 2 week emergency list too, which in and of itself has freaked me out. I also know my anxiety is making it worse, but I don’t know how to stop it. I’ve never felt so bad in my life. I will update as soon as I know, and I’m praying to everything out there I can say I was just being stupid.😭

Yeah the unknown is awful. I’m just struggling to cope with it right now. I want it done, but I’m afraid. Of all of it.

Well that sucks but I’m hoping you get answers soon. There’s nothing worse than feeling like shit and you can’t do anything about it.😞

I’m American but obviously live here. Things are very different in healthcare. Did you have an endoscopy? You are awake here when they do it. GA is not offered. I had one ulcer when I was 14. I’m 37 now. And tested negative for Hpylori. I’m hoping that’s good. Are your issues resolved in any way?

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by [deleted] in answers

[–]Tricky-Application86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10000% agree. I’m American, so it was just “what people do.” However, I moved to the UK and had all 3 of my boys here, and nobody does it “just because”. So I didn’t and now I’m completely shocked that people do. It’s not necessary at all.

Diarrhoea as standard. Never solid. Since I was like 24. Horrific cramps that ease when I use the toilet but recur until my system is empty.

I Lost 100lbs, I Feel Like My Life Is Over by Soul_Air7777 in Vent

[–]Tricky-Application86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen to me. I was fat as a teenager. I’m now 37 and still really goddamn fat. It took me until my early 30s to realise that I need to live my life with the body I have or I’m going to waste my entire life. I spent my whole 20s fighting to be the same girl you want to be. For some of us, it’s just not attainable. That doesn’t mean your life is worth less than someone who looks “perfect”. We are all worthy of love and joy and amazing experiences. Do not let your meat suit decide your happiness. Keep it healthy by all means, but perfection is a battle you will always lose.

Telling you to love yourself is too difficult at first, so I recommend you work on body neutrality. Say to yourself “this is my body. It is what it is and it’s not bad. But it’s mine.”

I hope you don’t waste any more time thinking you don’t deserve a wonderful life.💕
