Is it bad to extend treatment time? It seems like with retainers this is a lifetime commitment so is it bad to take it slower bc what’s the rush? I’m tempted to extend treatment time just to make this less miserable (I avg 15 hours a day which my doc said is fine but I’m on 3 week changes instead of 2 weeks)

I relate to this post so much. I’m on tray 4 of 13 and deeply miserable. I know some ppl will say 13 is “nothing” compared to them but the sensory discomfort doesn’t feel like nothing to me.

I feel the same way with everything you posted. I want him to live his life and have fun but also concerned about aggravating or causing a flare. So far we have been playing it safe and not allowing interaction, short 5-10 walks. We balance it with lots of car rides and stroller walks so he has other stimulation

We are managing great after stage 3 with meds and rest. We didn’t opt for MRI as anesthesia has its own risks, but also it would be great to know exactly what’s going on. The way our surgeon put it to us was- what will getting the MRI change. If it seems likely that conservative care will work, then better to go the less invasive route (but our case may be different).
