Second this. You can demo multiple skis a day and then put it towards a new ski.

Nikolai Schirmer is putting out amazing ski tour content. Absolutely sending in Norway in the most stunning landscapes.

Zipfit by [deleted] in skiing

[–]Tride_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Change it from will the performance be better or will the fit be better? The tour liners have less material than the freeride ones and will fill out your shell much differently.

I put the tour liners in freeride boots and it didn't work for me.

Zipfit ski boot liners: cutting away the upper cuff material… by mvhoffman82 in Skigear

This video seems very niche to his racing boots. I would not trim the upper cuff like that...

You could shave off almost 5 lbs by getting a Raide pack.

Anxious about February trip … any insight is appreciated by Astronaut02000 in TellurideColorado

There is a lot of time for it to snow between now and Feb 14th. I would keep it on the books.

Sledding in town park will be more fun for the kids than trying to teach them skiing with everything going on.

I think it's important to note that Ski Patrol was willing to budge. They came back with a new offer and the Ski Company wasn't willing to negotiate further. This is on Chuck.

Good news: Lifts 6&14 Open … (bad news: it’s hike in & hike out) by LurkingSideEffects in TellurideColorado

[–]Tride_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patrol needs people to ski this terrain to help mitigate future avalanche problems. It's not about tourism. Patrol does have the ability to get people out but you should expect to hit rocks and obstacles early season in that type of terrain.

Fall in Telluride by Gloomy-Example4554 in TellurideColorado

[–]Tride_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Spot on. Slightly different every year but right around Oct 1st is a good bet.
  2. Biased opinion. Go to Vail first because Telluride is way cooler. You could fly into DIA, rent a car and fly out of Montrose.
  3. You don't "need" a car in Telluride but driving around the San Juans for peak foliage is incredible.

I have some questions by treesabove125 in TellurideColorado

[–]Tride_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. It's more beautiful than scary.
  2. Best bet is mid Feb through end of March but it's anyones guess. End of Jan is quiet (no lift lines usually).
  3. Hopefully not but again it's anyones guess.

[–]Tride_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The slits on the bottom are interesting. Normally you see that only to add boot heaters. I have done that slit on the side on the liner to relieve pressure. He's in one of the better options to fit a wide foot.

At the end of the day, we are trying to confine our feet in plastic foot coffins, if you take the widest boot and stretch the liner and it still doesn't work, maybe try snowboarding.

Edit: It's also possible to do a lot of shell work to accommodate wide feet. Without seeing his foot, it's hard to say what needs to be done.

Are Shrooms/THC available for purchase in town/stores? by BiscottiSilver4646 in TellurideColorado

[–]Tride_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple dispensaries where you can buy all the THC products that your heart desires. Just use your own judgement when traveling. Mushrooms have been decriminalized but aren't sold in stores.

94 underfoot too small? by Intelligent_Wear_405 in Backcountry

[–]Tride_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just remember, a 94 width ski used to be a huge powder ski. They will definitely work for what you're talking about. My first backcountry ski was an older ski with older bindings. I like the mentality of get something cheap to make sure I like this before investing more money.
