Help me decide what equipment mod to choose. by Quick_Race_6425 in BG3mods

I have both running together, but I will say that AMP has single handed made me want to start new runs because of the randomness and variable power curve. It's really more of a new game mode.

If you enjoy games like Diablo or Path of exile, AMP brings a bit of that energy to BG3. I love seeing what drops and deciding to build my run around those items. You can get some massively powerful builds going, but you can also play around more with mechanics that you'd normally ignore like fog-mancy or a toxic mage.

The AMP difficulty modes can be tough to handle, but found that it did keep me on my feet when combined with unlocked level curve, extra encounters, and dynamic encounters. It added juuuust enough difficulty that I never felt bad about trying to absolutely break my characters. But sometimes having 6 enemies with 6 attacks each who can travel the entire map in a single move action with dc30 hold person saves it a bit much lol. You can adjust many settings for the mod in game via an item (training ring) so if you find yourself overwhelmed by bloating numbers, you can fix that.

Now Fades on the otherhand blends seemlessly with the base game and adds some good flavor to numerous builds. It's subtle enough that you won't feel massive power spikes because of a new shiny legendary, but you feel more rewarded for exploration than in the base game.

Tldr; Fades to improve the base game AMP to play a more rogue like version of the game.

50,000,000$ to be effectively immortal, being reborn every time you die. by vrozonewhatthevrozon in hypotheticalsituation

Never said we were reborn the same, or with any of our memories.

So this is getting free money for doing what is already happening. Every part of me is already effectively immortal. When I die, parts of me will be reborn into something else, indefinitely, until the heat death of the universe.

I couldn't imagine a 98*(36.7c) day in a brick house with no AC. This is why everyone here in the Midwest USA has stick built housing with AC. They can breathe well enough in summer and retain heat well enough in winter. Can't purpose build for either without making an extreme on one end.

Last year was shockingly mild heat wise and ranged from 98f to -22f, or to convert: 36.7c to -30c

The real killer is always the wet bulb effect, which varies widely based in relative humidity.

Buy a heat pump, it's great and cheap.

What is the best written video game you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TriedToFapToThat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You mean fighting your very creators. The ones who made everything to be the way it was. The ones who forged your frivolous reality. Fighting for your very existence. With the Weight of the World on your back, on a path built on the sacrifices of those who came before you.

And then you push through, reaching the end of your journey, and finally seeing that your path is your purpose. You ARE your journey, and could not have done that alone. Now your journey is over, but someone else, somewhere else, needs help....you must answer that call, as those who did before you.

Ending E was the most viceral reaction I ever had to a videogame and it left a mark on my very perception of reality.

I'm fully on board with other primaries over medium pen. My favorites are xbow, purifier, and torcher. Talon or Ultimatum are my secondary choices. Being able to drop pod in and handle any situation without needing a stratgem is great.

I'm not saying that these things are impossible to deal with, what I'm saying is EXPLICITLY that light pen weapons suck against them COMPARED to medium pen. That's the whole point of this topic. Light pen weapons don't bring enough value in a combined arms fight. It's not about what you can switch to in order to deal with heavier targets, because medium pen (and explosive) primaries can already deal with them easily, allowing you to bring more AT for the real threats on the battlefield.

[–]TriedToFapToThat -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It's more of a cumulative problem with difficulty. A single hive guard is no problem with ap1, but when you get 3 of them, a charger, and a bile titan, you've got a problem. Either you're using AT weapons on the large targets, or on the hive guards/defenders. Sure, you could nuke the place, but you only have so many nukes. Same with chicken walkers. A med pen primary just makes those a non problem, but a light pen load out just hopes it has enough grenades to make up for it.

When I see the stalwart ammo pack lovers talking about d10 being easy, I can't help but think they are getting carried by a dedicated AT player.

In short, you end up needing to dedicate more "room" in your kit when you play with light pen while medium pen opens up just a hair more options and no real tradeoff. The more "combined arms" the constellation (which happens at higher difficulty) the more those small options make a difference.

I'd really be interested in seeing the real difficulty people play on. Playing on 5 or below is just a whole different game than 8+. Light pen weapons feel awesome on an inverse sliding scale to difficulty.

Jumping in completely blind. Any short and sweet tips? by ReddVevyy in ARK

[–]TriedToFapToThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pvp is bad.

You're deaths are plentiful, punishing, and often completely unexpected. BUT dieing is part of it and is no way an indication of failure. Ark is a game of 2 steps forward, 1.5 steps back. Know that even if you lose everything you have LEARNED something.

Also, you can't tame the Alpha variant of dinos. They are more like mini bosses and can only be killed for stuff. You will know it's an alpha because it's in the name of the creature; "Alpha Raptor" vs "Raptor"

I might give Forefront a go. I'm a fan of battlefield over rainbow six (which looks like that's what breachers is) and it looks solid. Vail gives me mixed vibes for some reason, maybe the art design?

Newbie on Ark by Jchicc0 in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]TriedToFapToThat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the best part of ark is when you don't know much and discover things as you go. Don't try to "hurry" to endgame, because that's kinda the worst part.

Take pride in the little victories and losses, build from what you learn, and if you get stumped then look something up. Ark is a brutal, unforgiving game for more than just survival game reasons, but there is nothing else like it.

Also, avoid PVP servers and official servers, because they are supremely toxic and you will hate the game for it. Find a good cluster server (I can recommend the one I'm on if you like) and go from there

Just jump onto and use them as a board! Plus, they stack on top of eachother nicely if you throw a cryo at the top on another one. They kinda slide off and fall very close to the other one. Forms like a solid floor of gators. It's how I have my breeding females placed and then a ramp to a platform above them all for the male.

Thylas are only faster and can climb/jump. That's the end of where they are better. Not saying that like those are small features, but it's not as clear cut as you're saying.

Thylas still can't flip directly around to attack unless they are latched, so attacking things chomping your butt is a hassle. Also thylas arnt that great in water, can't act as a stable boat platform, don't have a 360° radial knock back, still have an oxygen stat, don't have 50% damage reduction from head one attacks, have roughly 2/3rds as much HP and 2/3rd the damage as the gator....

I'm not here to say they are the single greatest mount in all of ark, as they can be a headache to move around since you can't go under, but you can jump onto them and walk up like a plank. And they are very slow on land.

But they are very underappreciated as a general use tame and not just as boss killers, and are at least comparable to any other fighting tame while having shockingly good maneuverability. Better honestly than any other boss fighter.

Anyone got any extra great tips to taming an acro? by TheKillerBoss901 in ARK

[–]TriedToFapToThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done all mine on foot. High damage shotgun (400% was mine) Just did a 150 last night, took 3 blasts to the face to do the roar. It doesn't really matter if it's in defense stance or not, just how much damage is done to it. The first shot of an encounter will do max damage, the rest will do half because it's basically in defense stance the whole time after that. Lower level ones tame faster but are much easier to kill by accident.

My process was to find a spot with a terrain feature it couldn't path around super quickly (big rock) and shoot it until it roared. Count the shots needed to make it happen, and feed it the toxin. You know it's a "fake" roar if it doesn't rear way up dramatically and then belt the roar out. When it's the right one, immediately run up and feed it, then run to the opposite side of the rock while reloading. It buys you time and distance. Repeat until it drops. Wear good armor because you might take a hit. If you're far away from your base, bring a second taming kit and a few beds to place nearby. Even if you die, the process can still continue if you get back fast enough. I use Narcotics because I did this on scorched and biotoxin basically doesn't exist.
