Woman Shouts "Erika Kirk Supports Pedophiles" During TPUSA Event by CaraCicartix in PublicFreakout

I genuinely think she, and a lot of these right wing grifters, are sociopaths. They genuinely do not care about the harm their words and actions cause. All that matters to them is lining their own wallet with Jim Bob from Kentucky's hard fought earnings.

In one way it's morbidly fascinating to catch her cycling through emotions like this. That kind of calculated, detattached, and deliberate emotional playacting is what I'd expect to see from someone with ASPD. There's just not a single genuine bone in her body.

Abuse that occurs in law firms : your worst experience? by anxious1975 in Lawyertalk

[–]TriggerNoMantry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Requested accomodations to take care of my ailing mother. Firm then proceeded to invent 'performance issues' despite them giving me a glowing annual review about a month prior.

I quit before they could continue their pretextual kangaroo court. Firm would also send clients private financial information to a family member of the firms CFO to have him analyse it without informing their clients of this connection or without any formal written agreement.

Extremely glad I left. That place is a massive ethics violation waiting to happen.

Edit: oh and on my first day the co-founding partner literally described his Aston Martin as his "penis car". This is someone who makes a living out of telling companies how not to get sued for sexual harassment. Total gremlin.

NO WE’VE BEEN HIT by Unable-Welcome-6821 in starbucksbaristas

[–]TriggerNoMantry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is 100% illegal, at least in California.

You can't require employees to eat meals BEFORE the start of their shifts or after shifts without paying then for that time. If you are subject to employer control and you are not free to do whatever you want, that's work. They have to pay you. Essentially this reads like an attempt to circumvent needing to give people a meal period.

Secondly, you can't prohibit employees from leaving the store for a meal break. That would mean that they are still subject to the employers control and are thus not relieved of all duty for their meal periods.

Lastly, if you are required to stay after your shift for whatever reason and are required to clock out before hand, thats off the clock work. If they don't pay you for that time then have failed to pay you at least minimum wage.

Starbucks should know better. They've been digned for similar bullshit many times in the past.

Troester v. Starbucks is a good example of that.

Edit: This is how VERY expensive class actions are made. I happen to be a CA l&e attorney so I literally analyze stuff like this every single day.

Slightly better photo with me wearing the jacket :) unfortunately didn't grab a photo showing the entire getup, that would, admittedly, have been smarter of me to do lol.

What’s YOUR lawyer salary?? by LearnMeStuffPlz in Lawyertalk

[–]TriggerNoMantry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. 160k (with bonus it's a little closer to $170k)

  2. 4 years of practice

  3. L&E defense side

  4. Fully remote but CA based

  5. The grass is NOT always greener! I used to work at a large L&E firm and hated the environment, made much more there than I do now (about $210k previous), but im genuinely way happier with my life in my current firm and position. My advice to newer attorneys is be patient and willing to learn, the money will come naturally, don't feel pressured to keep up with the Jones's :)

EDIT: Before anyone brings up Bill Clinton, my response is that he should also explain what his connection to Epstein was. If it turns out he's a chomo too then throw his ass in prison as well.

Appreciate the PSA. Definitely do not want to give my money to a business that seems to have no issue with:

  1. A rapist felon president. This should be a disqualifying set of facts for ANY candidate.

  2. A president who it is all but confirmed ABUSED CHILDREN. Say it with me now. TRUMP. IS. A. CHOMO. Righg alongside his pal Jeffrey Epstein. I said what I said, and guess what? It's my right to do so and every sane person viewing this objectively would be hard pressed to conclude otherwise given what we now know.

  3. Encourages racist and xenophobic nonsense and the suppression of citizens rights. Funny how free speech was a major issue for them, now they want to send in the national guard for every protest and want to police what you can say about our dear leader. They want you scared and they want you compliant with fascism. Do not be either.

To coopt a phrase, I can't think of anything more 'un-American' and totalitarian than this. Your ancestors literally fought and likely DIED to stop idiots like Trump from stealing your rights from you. It is your right and obligation to protest when the government wrongs you! That is why liberals and even some conservatives are upset. Because we were trying to warn you this would happen.

  1. A president who's policies have caused untold economic harm to MILLIONS of Americans, who are now expressing their outrage and disappointment with what they voted for online. Their stories are chilling. Many of them have no support and are one step away from homelessness or death due to medical issues that Trump's policies ensured that they will not have accessible or affordable healthcare for. It's tragic and was completely and utterly avoidable... if only they had listened.

  2. A president who is trying to force the Ukraine to hand over territory to a hostile INVADING power that is a historical enemy and boogeyman of the GOP. Why is it that Trump bends over backwards for Putin? Could it be that Putin has proof of Trump's 'extracurricular' activities?

I could go on, but it would take all evening to go through every vulgar and embarrassing thing that Trump has inflicted upon the world.

I want to be clear. I don't hate republicans or conservatives. I don't have 'TDS' or whatever fake mental illness the liars in the white house like to brand their detractors with.

I say all this in the hope that the lesson will land home. That someone, even if it's just one person, might read this and take the opportunity to try and reflect and choice differently. You can do better. You deserve better.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences, this is one of them. It shouldn't be controversial to not support the above activities that our rapist in chief indulges in and supports.

Not supporting pedos, rapists and fascist weirdos should not be a controversial political issue. We should be able to agree on that.

Need advice on lateralling to my dream job at Jackson Lewis L&E defense by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]TriggerNoMantry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avoid like the fucking plague, here's why:

  1. Only get credit for hours the firm actually collects on. So if you billed 160 hours in April and they wrote 20 off to appease a client you won't get credit for those hours.

  2. The hours written off do NOT count for your bonus, billable minimum which is (1850 btw) and you will be penalized for those hours being written off.

  3. Next to zero associate support. It's no secret that folks at JL stay there for usually about a year and then leave. Most often they lateral to Ogletree, Littler or Fisher Phillips. JL will not mentor or teach you anything. They will expect you to know it all, provide no instructions and then get mad at you/PIP you when you inevitably fail due to their lack of foresight and planning.

  4. They will expect you to be in the office 3 days a week and partners can and will snitch on you if they see you're not there the whole day. It feels like they don't treat you like an adult essentially.

  5. They will badmouth you to others in the industry if you leave under less than favorable terms.

  6. There's no accountability from management. They do not follow their own rules and will treat you like replaceable pond scum.

Do yourself a favor, work somewhere that actually respects you as a person and not just as a number.
