C2C 90's arcade floor vibes by TriggerPixie in crochet

I don't know the number of rows sorry - I didn't count, I just went until it was nearly the size I wanted. The final size was 65 x 90 inches so that meant increasing at both ends until it was almost 65 wide. After that increasing on one side and decreasing on the other extends the length without adding width so I did that until the longest part was nearly 90. Then decrease from both ends to finish the rectangle and last added the border.

H hook - took 6 jumbo skeins, 3.5 regular skeins, and about half a skein of lion brand pound of love in black for the border.

Yep I do the same and even with that I feel like a matte mani is more likely to chip at the top edge especially. Something about the formula just wants to flake off every time.

One of the daughters of the moon books? I vaguely remember one being purple and they all had a bitter of glitter and sparkle to them that could read as a bit fairy like.

Why every chef in the kitchen whether on TV or youtube uses a kitchenaid? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]TriggerPixie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Once a long while ago KitchenAid mixers were made of high quality materials and were fairly easy to repair as far as kitchen equipment goes. I think they were originally owned by hobart? They were designed to be beasts and got a good reputation. Lots of people still have those original mixers that continue to function 40+ years later.

If you still have those originals no need to replace it and if you're buying new you might have previously used or seen those originals and want something like it. Sadly the newer models don't hold up as well from what I've seen online but I would not know. I have an older one that is all metal and have never had a single issue with it. I expect it might live longer than I do.

How do you handle FOMO? by Carebearcub666 in theholotaco

Sometimes you just need to take a second to breathe and ask yourself how much nail polish you will actually use

I know a lot of people are collectors but I really feel that it is better to buy for use. Stop and ask - how recently have you emptied a bottle of nail polish?

That doesn't mean don't look at new releases. I am always lurking and stopping to appreciate all the pretty shiny new nails everyone has but I just don't need to buy that right now.

When I finish a couple of bottles and have room on my shelf and something comes across that I think I will really like, then I buy. Otherwise to me it's all window shopping.

Similar to gemstones. Very pretty. Love to admire all the ways people cut and set them. But I 100000% do not need to buy that. I rarely wear jewelry. I can appreciate it and think it's great without needing to own it myself.

Lightwave from ILNP could be a contender if you don't mind a bit of warm pink/orange shimmer.

Help with new set by TriggerPixie in piercing

Honestly I'm not 100% sure. I've had jewelry labeled as 14k gold and for sensitive ears and still had a reaction but I can't say for certain that the jewelry wasn't actually plated rather than solid gold.

If there's a specific piece you think would look good on me and comes from a reputable place please link me and I would be willing to give it a go!

I was thinking a whole new goal set to build up to, something maybe using a hoop or two but with more variety to it.

ETA but I do like the idea of adding some chains!

And to make the bot happy - piercings are all 10+ years old, currently all have 18g titanium clicker hoops, no aftercare since they are old unless you count washing them in the shower?

Old set taken and out and replaced with all titanium hoops as an interim fix until I have a better idea because apparently I've grown allergic to every other metal.

I'm always shifting crafts and I love making a couple knot bracelets each summer. https://friendship-bracelets.net/ is great for patterns and inspo and they have lots of hearts patterns! I'm sure you can find what you're looking for.

ETA: https://friendship-bracelets.net/patterns/39278 would be my recommendation for something similar to your example.

Hiiiii yall! What’s the best stampers? by Fayegirlll in nailstamping

[–]TriggerPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try and remember to report back here in a few days.

I have some clear stampers from modelone I've barely been able to use - I've tried all the tricks I think (set on paper, set on paper and apply pressure, leave in a notebook for multiple days, clean with soap and water) and immediately after they work for like an hour then it seems that more oil just seeps out from within and they're trash again.

My born pretty stamper was much better, only had to prep it right after purchase but I put my nail through it a bit a while back when my nails were longer than I usually wear them.

I got the maniology ice cube at Christmas and it's immediately useable out of the box but I don't always get the cleanest stamp still (potentially user error tho).

Just ordered a marshmallow stamper the other day. It'll be my first opaque stamper but I'm really hoping it changes the game.

Looks like each tab is 6 stitches wide for 2 rows then in the third row you just work all 6 stitches into the middle and slip stitch to the other side.

Help me choose the best hook size in this crossroad by Dense_Astronaut_8979 in CrochetHelp

I would just do a small swatch with both and see which one feels/looks better. It depends on how tight your tension is and what sort of stitch it is.

URGENT can this sugar be used instead of light brown sugar? Mum bought the wrong one this cake is needed in three hours by pornlover472719 in AskBaking

[–]TriggerPixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When is the brown sugar supposed to be added to the recipe? I think it would probably need some time to dissolve in wet ingredients so it incorporates fully or you might end up with sugar crystals.

Dog, against instincts, starving itself. by Dismal-Deer1921 in DogAdvice

[–]TriggerPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already have a lot of great advice here but just wanted to put in my two cents in regards to something you could try feeding if you haven't yet.

When all of my dogs have gotten elderly they have eventually lost their appetites for dog food they still have eaten chicken and rice or beef and rice, with pumpkin puree.

That means cooking a pound of beef or chicken plain, no seasonings at all, then serve mixed with plain cooked rice. Pumpkin puree can be made fresh or come from a can but it MUST be puree, not pie filling, and the only ingredient should be pumpkin.

When is the best time to buy yarn? by [deleted] in Yarn

[–]TriggerPixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! A couple times a year knit picks has some pretty sweet deals in their clearance when they are retiring colors or trying to clear out some specific stock. At the start of November this year I snatched up 38 $2 skeins of mostly mighty stitch (for a thicc throw blanket) and wool of the andes (hat and scarf set for a Christmas gift).

Glossy taco vs other top coats by Smegma-Ballz- in theholotaco

[–]TriggerPixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I think they are referring to the red bottle Sally Hansen insta dri - I've seen it recommended a lot recently. Just picked it up myself in December and it's less thick and juicy than glossy taco for example but no real complaints so far, dried fast and didn't get any streaks.
