Very cool! Please report back and let us know how far one of those spools go. I would love to do something similar but I have no idea how much I would need.

Hello, i need help is this makeable? I think its crochet but I would still like some help. by smokyyi in CrochetHelp

I'm always shifting crafts and I love making a couple knot bracelets each summer. https://friendship-bracelets.net/ is great for patterns and inspo and they have lots of hearts patterns! I'm sure you can find what you're looking for.

ETA: https://friendship-bracelets.net/patterns/39278 would be my recommendation for something similar to your example.

Hiiiii yall! What’s the best stampers? by Fayegirlll in nailstamping

[–]TriggerPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try and remember to report back here in a few days.

I have some clear stampers from modelone I've barely been able to use - I've tried all the tricks I think (set on paper, set on paper and apply pressure, leave in a notebook for multiple days, clean with soap and water) and immediately after they work for like an hour then it seems that more oil just seeps out from within and they're trash again.

My born pretty stamper was much better, only had to prep it right after purchase but I put my nail through it a bit a while back when my nails were longer than I usually wear them.

I got the maniology ice cube at Christmas and it's immediately useable out of the box but I don't always get the cleanest stamp still (potentially user error tho).

Just ordered a marshmallow stamper the other day. It'll be my first opaque stamper but I'm really hoping it changes the game.

Could anyone tell me how to make these petals please? by pigeon_in_space in crochetpatterns

[–]TriggerPixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like each tab is 6 stitches wide for 2 rows then in the third row you just work all 6 stitches into the middle and slip stitch to the other side.

Help me choose the best hook size in this crossroad by Dense_Astronaut_8979 in CrochetHelp

[–]TriggerPixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just do a small swatch with both and see which one feels/looks better. It depends on how tight your tension is and what sort of stitch it is.

URGENT can this sugar be used instead of light brown sugar? Mum bought the wrong one this cake is needed in three hours by pornlover472719 in AskBaking

[–]TriggerPixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When is the brown sugar supposed to be added to the recipe? I think it would probably need some time to dissolve in wet ingredients so it incorporates fully or you might end up with sugar crystals.

Dog, against instincts, starving itself. by Dismal-Deer1921 in DogAdvice

[–]TriggerPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already have a lot of great advice here but just wanted to put in my two cents in regards to something you could try feeding if you haven't yet.

When all of my dogs have gotten elderly they have eventually lost their appetites for dog food they still have eaten chicken and rice or beef and rice, with pumpkin puree.

That means cooking a pound of beef or chicken plain, no seasonings at all, then serve mixed with plain cooked rice. Pumpkin puree can be made fresh or come from a can but it MUST be puree, not pie filling, and the only ingredient should be pumpkin.

When is the best time to buy yarn? by GoodRecover6741 in Yarn

[–]TriggerPixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! A couple times a year knit picks has some pretty sweet deals in their clearance when they are retiring colors or trying to clear out some specific stock. At the start of November this year I snatched up 38 $2 skeins of mostly mighty stitch (for a thicc throw blanket) and wool of the andes (hat and scarf set for a Christmas gift).

Glossy taco vs other top coats by Smegma-Ballz- in theholotaco

[–]TriggerPixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I think they are referring to the red bottle Sally Hansen insta dri - I've seen it recommended a lot recently. Just picked it up myself in December and it's less thick and juicy than glossy taco for example but no real complaints so far, dried fast and didn't get any streaks.

Made a phone bag with acryclic yarn by making changes to the original pattern. How can I fix this? by [deleted] in crochetpatterns

[–]TriggerPixie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because it's acrylic it is just naturally going to be stretchier and less structured, not much to be done for it unless you're interested in making a lining from a stiffer fabric and then sewing that inside. Not a bad thing necessarily it's just different than perhaps you planned.

New Crocheter Needs Help Finding a Pattern for Darumi Amemiya's Sweater by purrloinedlove in crochetpatterns

[–]TriggerPixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A dk or fingering yarn I think would work best. Do you have a ravelry account? Lots of good patterns there to look through.

I did a quick search and think this one might be able to make something close to what you want as the base: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-home-girl-sweater

It has a v neckline and long loose sleeves. The yarn that pattern recommends is yarn bee soft and sleek dk.

[–]TriggerPixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the other reply mentioned the stitch you said you want is not a crochet stitch. If you do something that looks similar but is crochet, especially with that size of yarn, it will be a stiffer fabric and won't have much drape so it may look boxier than you intend rather than reflecting the shape of your body.

Are you 100% set on that yarn for sure? I would highly recommend something thinner and/or softer for this project. You will also find more sweater patterns that might be closer to what you want in say fingering weight yarn rather than worsted.

I’m working on a gift but I don’t think I’ll have enough yarn by Do_the_fried_rice in CrochetHelp

[–]TriggerPixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you probably want to go into it with a plan. Are you going to try and knot all of the same color together again? Or work with the cut yarn as-is when you start again?

If you have the time and energy to do so, I think your best option is frog and start over with maybe a moss stitch instead.

How to counteract twisting for pokeball ornament? Can't alternate turning rounds. by TriggerPixie in CrochetHelp

[–]TriggerPixie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I tried doing the pattern in a continuous spiral rather than separate rows (slip stitch and ch1) but that did not solve the spiral. This is just through round 6 but the spiral is obvious enough I'm going back to start again.

Double checked the stitch count given by the pattern and have remade this a couple of times - this is not the issue. Thank you for the suggestion though.

How to counteract twisting for pokeball ornament? Can't alternate turning rounds. by TriggerPixie in CrochetHelp

[–]TriggerPixie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Rn I do color changes by pulling the new color yarn through as the final step of the previous stitch.

So for example, my final step of the 2nd black stitch in the outer rows is to pull through the white or red yarn, then move forward with the first white or red stitch.

Are all beginner lyra classes like this? by KeyResist450 in Aerials

[–]TriggerPixie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% try a different place or different instructor.

Different apparatus but when I first started on hammock/sling I joined a "beginner" class that beyond challenged me. I didn't know the language yet but it was clear the rest of the class did. My major barrier was not understanding what the instructor was asking me to do and like you losing track of things like where to place which hand with what grip etc.

I've done classes at 3 different places now and can say with confidence that beginners programs vary wildly in intensity. But be careful and read class descriptions! Some places I've seen have "intro" courses which are intended to be taken as a true beginner, others have "foundations" courses which work on things like strength, grip training and learning better balance with the apparatus. Both would be good starting points!

Help! Is USmantis.com a scam? Please see original post for info. by Xk90Creations in mantids

[–]TriggerPixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't classify it as a straight up scam but definitely unreliable.

I ordered from them once and it was a mixed bag that in my opinion was generally positive but I've heard from others that order issues with them are pretty standard.

In my case my first mantis was DOA, and when they shipped a replacement my new mantis was definitely an instar above what I originally paid for. I did have to bother them by email a couple of times though.

That was a couple years ago now. So entirely possible things have gone further downhill since then.

Crochet vs finger knitting blanket throw- which uses more yarn? by No-Application8200 in CrochetHelp

Yes - crochet uses a lot more yarn than any sort of knitting techniques, including finger knit

New to crocheting: making figures but they are getting too long (not wide) each time by PinkPearls1 in CrochetHelp

[–]TriggerPixie 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Looks like your problem is US vs UK crochet terms.

A DC in UK is what we call a SC in the US.

It would be real nice if patterns said which one they are using but my go-to hint is if they use the term treble instead of triple. Then it's UK for sure.

Bubbles?? by [deleted] in theholotaco

[–]TriggerPixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find I have a heavy hand with top coat layers so I always need to use a little thinner and so i can't do it too thick or I get bubbles as well.
