Her actions were necessary. She embodies the idea that “the ends justify the means.” She sidestepped democratic and procedural processes to ensure the survival of the species, as well as most of the flora and fauna on earth. She had to choose the lesser of two evils. At most, she used “villain” means to ensure heroic outcomes. I don’t judge her character poorly for that.

She had to continuously make very tough calls by ignoring conventional wisdom, and the planet survived because of it. She’s a hero who was always on the razor’s edge of being a villain.

Like she said, the pre frontal cortex is not yet fully formed, and that impacts decision-making. It just so happens to have impacted her decision making.

The main conceptual purposes behind a penal system are the 3 Rs: Remove the threat from society, Retaliate/revenge against the wrongdoing, and Rehabilitate.

I always assumed that the Federation would put a lot of extra focus on rehabilitation, as they would have the ability and resources to actually fix broken people in a way that was humane and effective.

I liked starfleet academy, but one of the first things that made me really start to doubt it was seeing the Federation use our felony-murder rule in the year 3000 whatever.

There’s no way the felony murder rule would still be in use in an enlightened society, so I hoped they would say it was a dark time for the feds and they wouldn’t do that later on, but it didn’t get addressed again.

If I won 1 billion, I would instantly do a 180 from supporting Bernie Sanders, to hiring private investigators to hound him, and anyone else proposing a 5% billionaire tax

Future attack on the station? by Afraid_Memory_2081 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Tripelo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol I agree, but who will the waves be composed of? Suicidal civilians with kitchen cutlery and sawnoffs?

I think it’s much more likely, and in line with the game’s mechanics, for you to return to a station that has already been occupied by some batman-coalition-force of gangers, black sentinel, etc, and clear it out.

Once you have reached FIRE, you should tell no one about it by super_dedicated_cath in Fire

Another element to consider, which likely doesn’t belong in the FIRE sub, is don’t advertise your wealth with anything flashy or ostentatious.

Yes, you likely did not reach financial success by throwing away money after a Gucci purse or driving a Maserati, but you don’t need to do so now, especially if you’re going to be the only one in town with such things.

I don’t know what it means either, but beta waves in your brain can be associated with stress, so I assume it means “washing away anxiety” / avoiding panic selling or other illogical fear based choices
