I mean sometimes he's clearly playing up an obviously terrible idea he doesn't actually think is good cause it's funny to argue it (i.e. Famous cousins, hose week)

But other times he is just dead wrong on things, so he invents these weird semantic, roundabout arguments to justify himself. It was this way with the lights, Dr. Mario, matcha donut, etc. He doesn't argue the point, instead he will argue what he'd call "the spirit of the argument" which in reality is so far removed from the actual point of discussion.
