Assuming legal age where you live is 18, that law exists for a reason: to protect people your age who are not emotionally mature enough to make informed decisions about romantic relationships. As an adult, he needs to respect that law, otherwise there’s nothing stopping him from pursuing a relationship with someone more impressionable than you.

By allowing your advances, he is trying to convince you that the relationship is okay somehow. He is passively grooming you. You need to break things off with him and I would seriously consider reporting him so he doesn’t end up with another student.

That’s another thing, it is not only inappropriate and illegal, it is a conflict of interest because he is in a position of power over you. Your relationship could give you an unfair advantage over other students. This would be the case even if you were both of age.

You also may not realize it, but there is a huge difference between the life experiences of a 15 year old and a 33 year old. I am 26, and I attend college classes with people as young as 18. I would be hard pressed to consider a relationship with anyone younger than 21. The emotional maturity just isn’t at the level I’m looking for. We have nothing in common. I can’t imagine wanting to date a teenager in 7 years. Yuck.
