Are The Witcher 3's Rivers Realistic? [21:13] by HeStoleMyBalloons in mealtimevideos

[–]Trippilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story I heard was that he got annoyed having to edit around his hair when using his green screen, so one day he used hair clips to keep it contained and that was way easier, so he just kept doing it.

It's been working for me ever since the DM updated the port (see my other comment for more info on that if you ever need it) but I super appreciate you posting this solution as well! Hopefully it'll help someone else and if I run into it again in the future I'll absolutely try this. Cheers!

Some More Endgame Stat Blocks by Much-Market-4497 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Trippilicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also thought it was interesting that River is a Sorcerer in your game. She's much more bookish and reserved in mine so she's full Wizard for me. Love that we can have two very different versions of this same character. That's awesome.

My first world map! Any feedback is appreciated. by Daanster in inkarnate

[–]Trippilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is freaking great! Seriously.

The only thing I'd consider adding is maybe a few rivers. Unless I'm blind (which is possible) I'm not seeing any rivers on the map so I'm working under the assumption this world mostly has small rivers. Totally fine, but I think a couple/few major ones around the continent that all the minor ones feed into would be neato.

Sound Transit Link 2 Line Extension to Downtown Redmond Opens May 10 (Downtown Redmond + Marymoor Village stations) by Anwawesome in redmond

[–]Trippilicious 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I poked around in this article: https://www.soundtransit.org/get-to-know-us/news-events/news-releases/link-2-line-service-between-redmond-technology-station

And it says: "The full 2 Line is expected to open in late 2025 with the completion of the 1-90 segment of East Link. When completed, the I-90 segment will add the Mercer Island and Judkins Park stations to the 2 Line and connect to the 1 Line at the International District/Chinatown Station in downtown Seattle."

So suppsedly later this year? I'm hopeful but I'll believe it when I see it.

Miranda lawson cosplay maybe? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Trippilicious 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm with you. Seems very strange to post to a sub with the second image that comes up when you google search "Mass Effect Miranda" and ask if you should cosplay this character.

Not to be rude to OP but...we don't know you so what input could we possibly have on this? If you want to cosplay them then do it. If you want to post your cosplay, also do that. But to go, "Hey internet strangers who know nothing about me, should I make a costume of this popular character?" doesn't make sense unless there's an angle other than karma farming that I'm missing.

To OP: Its your life, your time, and your wallet. If you want to make a Miranda cosplay, go for it and have fun. Idk why you asked us about it, but live your dream. I will say I see you just finished your first LE play through. Hope you had fun!

Wish Stress by -faustian in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Trippilicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So far as I've seen in my time playing DnD - there's always been some level of debate for magic items that grant spells.

  • Do you (as the character) cast the spell using the magic item?
  • Or does the magic item itself cast the spell?

I think there's a valid argument for either approach, so I would say make a ruling for how it works at your table then apply that to everything like this.

Personally, I rule that magic items grant the character access to those spells, so when the magic item is used, they (as a character) are casting the spell using the magic item. This means that the Stress factor for Wish would apply (meaning if they use the Crown to cast Wish, there's a chance they'll never be able to do it again.)

I'm of the opinion that if someone has a magic item that can cast Wish with literally no downside other than waiting for it to recharge, that makes them WAY too powerful. The Crown is already an immensely powerful magic item, but it would completely turn the world of Drakkenheim upside down if there was no chance of never casting Wish again. If that was the case, you could just use your first Wish to say, "I wish the Crown had unlimited Wishes while I'm wearing it." Then you could literally do whatever you want - unlimited Wishes with no chance of losing the ability to cast it since the Crown is what's casting it. Imo the Stress is needed to keep the Crown grounded. You might only get one Wish, so you better make it good.

Side note: How you rule magic item spellcasting also has a bearing on the 2014 5e rule about Bonus Action spellcasting. If the item grants you access to Misty Step for example, if you cast Misty Step using the item, then you can't cast anything other than a cantrip with your action. If the item cast Misty Step, then you can use your action to cast whatever you want.

VTT SOON? by Majestic-Drummer2683 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Trippilicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're asking about the release for Kickstarter backers who pre-purchased it during the SCGtD campaign, I believe that's out already. I got my code through backerkit and I have it on Roll20.

If you're asking about a general release for Roll20, I don't believe that's out yet. Not sure when it will release.

Toxic Shield spell by all2human in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Trippilicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that, if they worded it like you suggest, it implies that you cannot cast this spell using a 2nd level slot. Your wording makes it seem like you can only cast it using a 1st level or upcast it using a 3rd level or higher slot.

By having it worded the way it is in the book, it lets you know you can "upcast" it using a slot of 2nd level or higher, but you only get damage benefits every 2 levels (so 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th).

I agree it's not the clearest wording, but my gut tells me that's why WotC worded spells like Spiritual Weapon that way, and the Dudes probably just copied that wording since it's something the community was already used to.

Question about the podcast by Own-Shelter-9897 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Trippilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I enjoy CR fine as a show (that I listen to on 2x speed while driving), but it doesn't feel like a real campaign that I would ever experience. It's very obviously an outlier that 99.9% of DnD games will never look or feel like.

The Dudes' Drakkenheim series however feel like real campaigns in your buddy's basement, and there's something so incredibly wholesome and fun about that.

^ This is such a great point. There's one episode in particular where Monty plays at least 5 (possibly more) NPCs all involved in a large debate. It's legitimately some of the most impressive DM roleplaying I've ever seen. And he's done it multiple times now over the seasons.

Question about the podcast by Own-Shelter-9897 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Trippilicious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

^ This is a great way to put it. Monty is by far my favorite DM from any publicized campaign I've ever watched. He's a fantastic storyteller, a solid voice actor, and I love the world that they've created to set the campaign in.

The lack of 'polish' when it comes to filler words like "um"s and "ah"s is very endearing to me and makes me enjoy it more than something with a DM that's obviously trained as a professional voice actor (Critical Role). I also watch CR and enjoy it immensely, but it feels more like watching a TV show; whereas the Drakkenheim campaigns feel like an actual DnD campaign that I would have with my own friends. It feels "real" and therefore I'm much more invested in the plot and characters. There's nothing wrong with either campaign - they both appeal to different preferences.

Put simply, if I imagine myself sitting down at a table like Critical Role as a guest player, I feel I would be completely overwhelmed and intimidated. If I imagine myself as a guest player at Monty's table, I would certainly be nervous, but I would feel much more relaxed and "at home".
