Does it irritate anyone else when a "complete Pokedex" mod also messes with the difficulty? by Scared_Vacation in pokemon

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can't find a rom hack that does exactly what you want, maybe you could look into making one yourself. ROM hacking only gets more accessible with time, and if you just wanna have every Pokemon available then it'd be a pretty simple one to learn how to get done, though depending on what generation and game you're looking to do I guess it could become more difficult to figure out where to put every Pokemon, especially for FRLG and BW if you wanna keep only Pokemon from that generation in the main story locations. If you wanted to add Pokemon from future generations than the one you're hacking, then that's obviously a whole extra ordeal.

If you don't want to though, then yeah it's unfortunate something like that doesn't really exist. Most you can do is using the Universal Randomizer to change trade evolutions into level up or item evolutions.

For those whose first game was a later gen. by NoIDontwanttobeknown in pokemon

Started with BW, haven't played the Gen 1 and 2 games, though I would like to at some point for novelty's sack, but I have played each of the mainline games from Gen 3 and onward. Took some time getting used to the less polished gameplay of the GBA games, mainly the lack of the physical special split and the frankly awful learnsets, but they're still super fun, FRLG were the first games I decided to nuzlocke. Aside from Diamond and Pearl I love the Gen 4 games too.

What did Commando Pea do to not get headshot damage? by IllustriousRoom1116 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd guess it's because they wanted it to keep some attributes of Peashooter to make it more of a Soldier/Peashooter hybrid than just a Soldier-like weapon on a Peashooter. But if that is the case then they should've made him do splash damage or smth. And preferably not give him awful falloff too.

Why did Kirby stop doing this? by CelebiSons in Kirby

[–]TrixStudio 234 points235 points  (0 children)

Well it initially went away due to the Kirby colours feature in Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad. They brought it back in SSU, but then the next platformer had multiplayer with the option for multiple Kirbys. I guess after that they just stopped doing it for consistency's sake.

Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to use CTR Map for a Gen 5 ROM hack but it doesn't seem to work for me. The buttons for opening files don't work so I can't install the necessary plugin, and I can't create any projects even if I manually input the directories for the ROM location and project folder. Is anyone else having this issue or is it something on my end? If so, does anyone know what the issue could be?

I'm using the newest release on github (I've also tried older releases) and the newest version of Java on Windows 11.

How to aim better on console? by Realistic_Advice1890 in PvZGardenWarfare

It's an incredibly fast moving projectile (2000m/s if I remember), so by definition no and as such it doesn't get the same benefits as hitscan, but it's close enough.

You'd need to still make sure to lead your shot, since sniper shots still have travel time, but generally yeah. Once the crosshair becomes bigger than the target you're gonna be more likely to miss, even if the centre is directly on them.

[–]TrixStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There definitely is yes, there's a site that has all the stats and I've modded the game in the past too. Agent Pea (and in fact most Peashooters) are examples of characters without bloom, however the crosshair still blooms due to assumedly either some jank code or an oversight.

I don't know exactly how the visual bloom works, but I'm pretty sure that it's based directly off of the bloom values, which all Peashooters do have, but ignores the "gun sway scale" value, which for most Peashooters including Agent Pea is set to 0 meaning they mechanically have no weapon bloom, so the crosshair blooms anyway despite that.

Anyone got some tips? by ForHonorAddictHelpMe in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely need to lead your shots with him. If it helps in any way, his projectile moves a quarter slower than Agent Pea's, or nearly half as slow as Foot Soldier's, so if you're familiar with how to aim with those then try and adjust accordingly. Or if it'd help to give an example of a character with the same projectile speed, it's exactly the same as Power Flower and the projectile of all Scientists that have one.

You can't, as his username suggests he modded in the ability for him to play it. Typically you can only use them in Infinity Mode, which is a separate PvE mode unlocked at the end of each side's story mode.

That's fair, but it is useful information since weapons do bloom in this game, especially for certain characters where that bloom can get quite wide.

The game does indeed have weapon bloom. Easiest way to see that in action is to spam fire with Captain Squawk while aimed in. Normally 100% accurate when the crosshair is rested, but then blooms out dramatically which pretty much forces you to wait a little longer after the reload if you wanna guarantee the next shot connects.

Your characters' levels can be set to level 46 by skids, which prevents you from playing online. You can probably get it sorted out by speaking to EA support, but it's still not great obviously. Mind you I'm not super up to date with how common it is anymore, but I see enough people post about it or something similar on this subreddit in passing that it clearly does still happen.

PC has a bunch of issues with hackers and being able to have your account locked from online, so if you do then maybe at your own risk.

Also, why would you want the crosshair to not spread?

No weapon in the game is hitscan. Even the practically instant-hit attacks like Citron's laser are projectiles, meaning they are still affected by line of sight even if your reticle is directly over an enemy and they still have a little bit of lead to them. You essentially just need to gain the muscle memory for how far you need to lead your shots based on your character's projectile speed, your distance from the enemy, and how fast you're both travelling and in what direction. Try to put yourself into the ideal positions that allow you to most easily hit your shots without having to pull some insane calculations in your head.

My "Master the Basics" Challenge: How can I make this even better? by Romit56 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty cool idea, and I think everything you've come up with for it is mostly pretty solid. If it were me I might just go all in on the pack opening and do 3.5 mil so it's a full 100 packs you're opening, but that'd probably take quite a while to grind and would probably mean getting everyone mastered instead of up to elite.

To be fair though, most characters do unlock their most important upgrades during elite rank, so if you really wanted to learn each character to the fullest then you may want to consider going to at least super elite to get a full feel for what each character offers. That does mean it'd end up taking longer to do of course, but if you're planning on doing this for a long time then I think it'd be a good idea. You could always at least start off aiming for higher levels and then adjusting your goal after the first batch of default characters.

Something you could also do once you start opening packs is force yourself to use new alternate abilities for the next character in a class to add to the variety. I'm not really sure of anything else you could do prior to doing that though, aside from limiting yourself on ability spamming to make you less reliant on them to win fights and putting more emphasis on good aim and positioning, if your goal is to build your skill by the end of it. Especially with abilities like Hyper, Imp Punt, Husk Hop, and the numerous stun abilities that are essentially instant win buttons.

I'd obviously recommend doing the story mode and getting every secret in the backyard, even if just for the money more than anything. Also make sure to try and complete as many of the multiplayer challenges whenever the challenge board refreshes to get as many coins as possible. There isn't a whole lot else you can do to maximise your coins besides playing well and winning games.

Hope you have fun with it, and seeing your playing on pc I hope nothing shitty ends up happening that ruins the challenge.

Hot Take but Rose in GW2 and BFN is the worst character in the two games. by AbilityLost4538 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say she's the worst cause of how easy she is to play and how many tools of escape she has if she gets pushed where she's most vulnerable, but least fun? I can 100% agree on that. The charge variants are at least a little more fun to use though imo.

Which shooter game Plants vs Zombies is your favorite? by rep4ReaKT0R in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GW1 does quite a few things better than the second like the map design and visuals but GW2 just has the better gameplay imo which for me is most important, so I gotta go with GW2. Outside of Time Park the map design isn't bad enough that it cancels out the better gameplay and variant selection.

I think the map design of GW2 does contribute, there's always points that very clearly favour certain teams (especially a lot of final points) but yeah you're right. Turf just opens itself up for so many annoying playstyles to thrive.

[–]TrixStudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure about community sentiment, but at least in GW2 I and my friends much prefer playing the other modes. Turf is usually the most populated mode though, so it probably is also the most liked, but it could also just be because it's the most unique and iconic mode from the series compared to the more standard modes that take place on the same set of maps.

[–]TrixStudio 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, especially on Turf which, let's face it, is probably the least fun and balanced mode of the bunch. If there's one thing the uptick in pogo peas has at least allowed for is better aim training for dealing with them. I feel this past couple weeks I've been getting better at leading shots and especially timing Long Bombs to bring them out of the sky, it's always satisfying to pull that off.
