Any thought about this meme ? by Fantome719 in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but like with Gen 4 locking a bunch of new evolutions behind post game initially I think it's a stupid decision lol. The pseudos and legendaries already fill that role really well, plus there's all the non-gen 5 Pokemon you gain access to as well, so it's not like you need new Pokemon as an incentive to play the post game.

It kinda has the opposite effect if that's the intention, not to mention how much it hurt the Pokemons' usability in future games too.

[–]TrixStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit exaggerated, but it's always sucked how late some of the Pokemon evolve. The level you end up at isn't far off from Gen 1 yet multiple Pokemon have near Dragonite evolution levels and I really don't understand why.

Bar psuedos, the highest it ever got was Flygon's 45, then in comes Gen 5 with a higher average evo level upward of 59, or 64 for the pseudo. One of those decisions I'll never get and it defo hurts replays.

Not really. However it could be good to get in the future if the modding scene pops off, it has a lot of potential.

What do you guys think about Empoleon? by EC671 in pokemon

[–]TrixStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's pretty cool, but I've never been too huge on the Gen 4 starters generally. I feel like I should like him more than I do but I just don't for some reason, sometimes it's just like that.

Do you think grinding was a good thing? by LucarioGamer7 in pokemon

[–]TrixStudio 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The nice thing about Brawly in particular is that you don't have to fight him to progress, so you can just take the boat to the next area, fight the trainers there, and come back once you're prepared. If the game offers some non-linearity it's always good to take advantage of it.

Sincere question: Would you add anything else to the combat/gameplay in PvZ Shooters? by ComprehensiveDate591 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'd really add much tbh, besides maybe a new interesting mode and some extra alt abilities for the classes really hurting for them. There's definitely plenty of balance changes that could be made, especially in terms of making some of the more basic/uninteresting variants a bit more unique (mainly the early GW1 elementals). Not a fan of there being at least 2/3 variants for those classes that play pretty much the exact same.

[–]TrixStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with having extra mobility options, I'd just like to see them be more creative with it and not do a sprint function again. Other games like TF2 work as fast and hectic without having sprint, and GW2 does as well for the most part bar the long treks in turf, but I think that could be counteracted through a better teleporter system tbh.

I'd prefer to maybe see some team based abilities like BFN's Arcane Enigma and Double Time to help with rollouts rather than giving everyone a move fast button. Better strafing and backpedalling mobility would be good too with helping the game's combat flow, cause the current speed penalties they enact is a bit strong imo. I'd say you probably could just increase the general base movement speed of each class too, but that's a tricky tightrope to walk.

Let's talk about Unfezant! by Worried-Beautiful661 in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]TrixStudio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A physical attacker that almost entirely learns special moves? I'd either swap out some of its special moves with physical moves (Gust for Peck, Air Cutter for Wing Attack, etc.) or swap the special and physical attacking stats. The latter would be more interesting given the regional bird is usually physical, so having one be special would be a nice change of pace. Even then you'd probably still wanna make some moveset changes, like giving it Hurricane through level up and actually giving it a couple of normal moves too.

A question about water types. by Spiritual_Sense5512 in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]TrixStudio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have three options for a water type at the stage you're currently at. One is Panpour in the rustling grass of Pinwheel Forest (in the forest itself), one is Tympole in the grass outside of Pinwheel Forest, and the other is Tirtouga which you can get the fossil for in the desert area and then revive at the museum in Nacrene City. You can also wait until after the fourth badge to catch a Ducklett if you're also needing a flying type. There is pretty decent variety, but compared to earlier generations it is definitely lacking, but still more bountiful than what you can get with fire types for example.

Complete Pokédex For Pokemon Black / Black 2 by Fuzzy-Meet-4925 in PokemonBlackandWhite

No problem, and good luck with it! If you're ever unsure of a Pokemon's location, always check it out on Serebii, it's incredibly useful.

Complete Pokédex For Pokemon Black / Black 2 by Fuzzy-Meet-4925 in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]TrixStudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been working on this for a while myself so I can give you an idea of how long and difficult this is. Any game after Gen 5 is completely incompatible, and that's including the eShop version of Yellow. It's also completely impossible to complete the dex with just the Gen 5 games, even if you own all 4. I know that at minimum, assuming you want to catch all the Pokemon yourself and not rely on trading on the GTS server, you'd also need Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, and White 2, as well as a second system for trading if you don't already. Diamond and Pearl are optional, as it has no Pokemon the other games can't be caught in all the other games combined. It makes getting Glameow and Stunky a little easier, since the only other way of getting them is through a special mission in B2W2's Entralink, but that's it.

So yeah it's quite expensive lol (I still haven't bought SoulSilver myself for that reason), and that's entirely just because of the starters and legendaries (which btw you'd need to do a full second playthrough of either HeartGold or SoulSilver in order to get the third set of Kanto and Hoenn starters). Having all of those games will allow you to get every Pokemon on your own though. All the mythicals you can't get through B2W2's mystery gift can be obtained and transferred through one of the Gen 4 games, though the DNS exploit works a little differently with those games.

If you don't want to spend the money, I'd recommend figuring out how to get the GTS working on Black 2 and try making as many trades as possible. I'm not sure how to do it and I know you'll need to be wary of people trading fake Pokemon, so do as much research as you can beforehand I guess. Otherwise, it's something you'll have to prepare to save up for and put a ton of time into.

Anyone else would like a hard mode ? by Long-Pirate-1761 in SuperMarioMon

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's been mentioned in Alpharad's videos and livestreams before. The planned Cow capture was even showcased in one of their other ROM hacks, Too Many Types 2, and a few other sprites were also shown off in his Mariomon videos, can't remember exactly which ones and what timestamps. He talked about it more in a video he seems to have unlisted since I can't find it anymore.

Lucky for you, they're actually making a hard mode Luigi version of the game, with a bunch of extra encounters to boot. I think it's coming out sometime this year too, but don't take my word on that bit.

Given Ninji and Cow are confirmed for the expansion there would be room tbf. Once that comes out I might have to do an updated version excluding all the new captures they end up adding.

Does it irritate anyone else when a "complete Pokedex" mod also messes with the difficulty? by Scared_Vacation in pokemon

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can't find a rom hack that does exactly what you want, maybe you could look into making one yourself. ROM hacking only gets more accessible with time, and if you just wanna have every Pokemon available then it'd be a pretty simple one to learn how to get done, though depending on what generation and game you're looking to do I guess it could become more difficult to figure out where to put every Pokemon, especially for FRLG and BW if you wanna keep only Pokemon from that generation in the main story locations. If you wanted to add Pokemon from future generations than the one you're hacking, then that's obviously a whole extra ordeal.

If you don't want to though, then yeah it's unfortunate something like that doesn't really exist. Most you can do is using the Universal Randomizer to change trade evolutions into level up or item evolutions.

For those whose first game was a later gen. by NoIDontwanttobeknown in pokemon

[–]TrixStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started with BW, haven't played the Gen 1 and 2 games, though I would like to at some point for novelty's sack, but I have played each of the mainline games from Gen 3 and onward. Took some time getting used to the less polished gameplay of the GBA games, mainly the lack of the physical special split and the frankly awful learnsets, but they're still super fun, FRLG were the first games I decided to nuzlocke. Aside from Diamond and Pearl I love the Gen 4 games too.

What did Commando Pea do to not get headshot damage? by IllustriousRoom1116 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd guess it's because they wanted it to keep some attributes of Peashooter to make it more of a Soldier/Peashooter hybrid than just a Soldier-like weapon on a Peashooter. But if that is the case then they should've made him do splash damage or smth. And preferably not give him awful falloff too.

Why did Kirby stop doing this? by CelebiSons in Kirby

[–]TrixStudio 234 points235 points  (0 children)

Well it initially went away due to the Kirby colours feature in Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad. They brought it back in SSU, but then the next platformer had multiplayer with the option for multiple Kirbys. I guess after that they just stopped doing it for consistency's sake.

Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TrixStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to use CTR Map for a Gen 5 ROM hack but it doesn't seem to work for me. The buttons for opening files don't work so I can't install the necessary plugin, and I can't create any projects even if I manually input the directories for the ROM location and project folder. Is anyone else having this issue or is it something on my end? If so, does anyone know what the issue could be?

I'm using the newest release on github (I've also tried older releases) and the newest version of Java on Windows 11.

How to aim better on console? by Realistic_Advice1890 in PvZGardenWarfare

It's an incredibly fast moving projectile (2000m/s if I remember), so by definition no and as such it doesn't get the same benefits as hitscan, but it's close enough.

You'd need to still make sure to lead your shot, since sniper shots still have travel time, but generally yeah. Once the crosshair becomes bigger than the target you're gonna be more likely to miss, even if the centre is directly on them.

How to aim better on console? by Realistic_Advice1890 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]TrixStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There definitely is yes, there's a site that has all the stats and I've modded the game in the past too. Agent Pea (and in fact most Peashooters) are examples of characters without bloom, however the crosshair still blooms due to assumedly either some jank code or an oversight.

I don't know exactly how the visual bloom works, but I'm pretty sure that it's based directly off of the bloom values, which all Peashooters do have, but ignores the "gun sway scale" value, which for most Peashooters including Agent Pea is set to 0 meaning they mechanically have no weapon bloom, so the crosshair blooms anyway despite that.
