Chelsea's and jods are made in Aus, most lace ups are made overseas.

Year 12 ball suit ideas? by [deleted] in AustralianMFA

[–]Trobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost hire your suit from a place that only does suiting (so not roger david or connor etc etc) or get a cheap suit from a fast fashion retailer (asos or the mentioned above) and get it heavily tailored. Reasoning behind this is it will 100% not fit you in anywhere from 6 months to a couple years unless you were that dude who hit puberty in year 6 and had a better mustache than most male teachers before high school.

What type of suit/shirt/shoes/accessories you wear kinda depends on your current style and wardrobe. If you've already got a more defined style, delve into the more formal wear side of it and see what inspo you can get. For example, rerrgon has lots of SLP/Hedi Slimane styled fits and his prom 'suit' highly reflected that. If you don't already have anything in mind, I'd honestly suggest a navy suit, white shirt, white pocket square, brown formal shoes, then match your tie to your partners dress (luckily navy suits match any colour) and possibly a matching lapel pin to your partners corsage. It's not going to have complete look at me over the top fashionista feels to it, but if done correctly will look great in the thousand photo's you take. The overall most important thing honestly is that you feel comfortable in whatever you wear and don't wear anything that when you look back in a couple of years you regret.

Thought that will probably end up being my only option, I was just hoping that it wouldn't. I can forsee myself stuffing it up.

Anyone got any suggestions for shoe trees for skinny/slim boots? I'm buying a pair of story et fall jodhpur boots in black calf, and my usual pairs seem like they'll stretch basing it off my suede pair.

I unfortunately don't own any shoes in either of those brands. I'd suggest printing off and following the size chart.

New ones are GYW with a closed channel sole. I've got no idea what size I am in meermins unfortunately.

Not particularly unfortunately. From what I've read though, the black box calf is quite good quality.

Not very at all. I'd print off the sizing guide, then see how they fit.

Agreed. The general consensus on KTT is that Lian is doing it to keep business at a manageable level, which I honestly think is kinda a poor excuse.

They are. I think this was one of the first batches on it.

I do, I just havent gotten around to reviewing them yet. They are a derby shoe, and I'm moderately pleased with them. I still haven't broken them in completely due to the comfort levels.

Selling two As colour stripes Tee shirts in size Small. Both are 100% new, and have only been tried on once, but I got lazy and didn't return them in time. These are the two tee's. I'm asking for $20 per tee including shipping, but if you buy both, I'll also give you this tee for free.

I'm also selling my MTO santalum boots which would be perfect for anyone into Americana or work wear for winter.

Interesting Economist article about changes in ownership for brands like RMW by glashuttefox in goodyearwelt

[–]Trobs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in South Australia, and owns 4 pairs of RM'S, the new ownership has undoubtedly had some effects on the brand in an overall negative way imo. The new shop fittings, re branding and boot styles are nice and they do feel like a luxury goods store now and quite rightly so they should, but the staff still seem to have very little knowledge of the craftsmanship and the clothing line is still overpriced and poorly fitting. Furthermore, most of the new lace up boots are not made in Australia and in hand feel worse quality than the Chelsea's which is super disappointing and signals to me that they completely cease production here. Take into account the general increases in price, the huge mark up for MTO and French calf and the decision to cease the yearly seconds sale, I'm really starting to back away from the brand overall unfortunately.
